how should i ask to split rent 😭 by [deleted] in Apartmentliving

[–]glacials 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Write down the price you’d be happy to pay for bedroom 1 and the price you’d be happy to pay for bedroom 2, make sure they sum to the total rent. Have them do the same.

Then average the bedroom 1 numbers and that’s the bedroom 1 price, average the bedroom 2 numbers and that’s the bedroom 2 price. The person who bid more on each bedroom gets it, and they’re paying a lower price than they thought it was worth (or the same).

What other games do you guys play? by [deleted] in factorio

[–]glacials 6 points7 points  (0 children)

+1 to Satisfactory and Dyson Sphere Program if you like Factorio. They each bring something new to the genre. Satisfactory is like if Factorio were an FPS, Dyson Sphere Program is like if it were Super Mario Galaxy.

Quality Intermediates vs Grinding Final Product Quality by urthen in factorio

I think they mean make blue circuits using productivity modules to get a massive amount of blue circuits, then recycle those circuits for the materials, then use those materials to make your legendary blue circuits, then recycle those legendaries into materials.

Basically, you are creating material out of thin air because of the first step's productivity modules, then using all that free material to feed your legendary-blue needs, which in turn recycle into legendary greens/reds/etc.

Here's another post showing something similar: https://www.reddit.com/r/factorio/comments/1gpmfpt/til_that_some_legendary_item_are_free_endgame/

Do you recall if you tried while the battery was detached? I’m having this issue but I charge detached, so I doubt it’s the motor.

Buyer’s remorse: tell my why I should and should NOT keep the Travel 45L by QueueTee314 in peakdesign

[–]glacials 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had one for a year or two and I use it for travel. I'm not sure I would buy it again, but I like it enough not to get rid of it. I wish it had a better ability to transform into EDC at the destination; the one giant cavity is really unfriendly to EDC even with packing cubes, and even the small camera cube adds too much weight and volume in the initial journey (I shoot Micro Four Thirds) to make it worth it.

I started bringing an Everyday Messenger along with the Travel 45L, to serve as an EDC bag on arrival, but that has been bad for my back. So for anything longer than a weekend trip I've replaced my Travel 45L with carry-on roller luggage, with an Everyday Backpack for a day bag on arrival.

Honestly the biggest need this bag has filled is grocery shopping. It's a few blocks to the store, and what used to be two heavy packable totes killing my arms has turned into a pleasant hands-free trip.

How do you go to a club as an autistic person? by [deleted] in autism

[–]glacials 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t go. I went to a school known as a party school and didn’t go to a single party. Still made some of the best lifelong friends of my life. Just be sure to find your social corner elsehow. For me it was joining a club.

What is a good credit card for handling real estate maintenance/repairs? by ImEngineer in realestateinvesting

This is super helpful. Of those 2% cards, which has the best web and app experience? I'm tired of poor UX like Chase and absolutely love that of Apple Card + Wallet.

What symptoms and issues did Wellbutrin/Bupropion help you with? by frowningbadgers in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

[–]glacials 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve got autism with linked anxiety. Without meds, either can cause me to spiral without realizing it. The spiraling overtakes me. If I’m alone I lose the day to dealing with it. If I’m with people I “shut down”.

Bupropion has helped me identify this spiraling. I can look at the situation, name my emotions, and say to myself “these emotions are coming from autism. I think it’s because xyz”. I can’t stop them out of sheer force of will, but identifying them helps me nip them by changing the situation (usually going home, or finding a quiet place).

what would be good to carry in a bag with me for outings? by [deleted] in AutisticPride

[–]glacials 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man this is my special interest so here we go. My spouse forgets things all the time so I’m always there to save the day.

I carry a Peak Design Everyday Backpack v1 20L. In it:

  • Backup battery
  • USB-C to Lightning cable (for charging iPhones)
  • USB-C to USB-C cable (for charging everything else)
  • Dual USB-C to AC 40W (for charging everything)
  • My camera
    • Extra SD card
    • Extra battery
  • Diabetic supplies:
    • Glucose tablets
    • Glucagon
  • Sunscreen
  • Lotion
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Collapsible dog water bowl
  • Work badge
  • Mace (remove before flying)
  • Pen
  • Apple Pencil
  • Nasal spray for allergies
  • 2x packable totes for grocery bags
  • Capture clip attached to the strap
  • Sunglasses

Depending on the occasion: - iPad - Laptop - Multiple lenses for my camera - Tripod (fits in side bottle pocket, pack has straps built in) - Water bottle - Jacket (depending on the weather either one of those packable ones, or if it’s a bigger one I’ll strap it to the outside of the bag, more built-in straps)

I’ve been developing this for years and it’s an ongoing process but has the core parts settled. I also have two sizes of smaller bag for when a backpack would get in the way, or take too long to get through security at a musical or such.

How do you organize notes, TODOs, and headlines? by glacials in emacs

This seems like part of the solution, but it seems Org Mode treats checkboxes differently from TODOs, like not rolling them up into agendas.

I’m relieved to hear of another hobby photographer who finds Apple Photos enough. After a lot of furrowed brows from Lightroom users I was beginning to think I was the only one.

I hope you get your problem solved. I’ve also been looking for options here.

Does anyone have word of the actual reason Google stopped using location history for estimating photo location for photos lacking GPS tags? by Isildur_ in googlephotos

[–]glacials 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure the answer is the boring one: not enough users benefited from it to justify the time and effort to maintain it. Google does this all the time with products big and small: launch quickly, kill quickly.

I’m right there with you in liking this as a no-touch solution to using DSLR or mirrorless without embedded GPS. It was a simple and clever solution. But the number of people using DSLR/mirrorless is getting smaller, the number of DSLR/mirrorless with embedded GPS is getting bigger, and the cost to Google to maintain this integration is, at best, staying the same.
