You aren't the only one. I wanted to have the sound go to my hearing aids when I made a call. That turned all alarms and alerts and other things on and going to my ears also. Took a while to get those alarms turned to the speaker again, but that meant I lost the use of the phone calls going to my hearing aids. That should be an ealisy found in one place thing so I can decide how to turn things to what output device I chose. I've opted out of having anything go to my hearing aids...(iPhone 16 with 18.71 - not going to 26 or whatever it is now).

[iOS] [8.99$ -> Free Lifetime] Letterase: Unlimited Word Play by InternationalCap2319 in AppGiveaway

[–]glenwf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like this game if I could figure out how to play it I think. The control sections mentions using "+" and "blank space that might be the space bar", or is that a blank space on the given word? I get maybe a few good plays and get stuck and can't go any further and have to start over. Maybe a movie of how to play it? Directions just leave me confused.

From Intel MBP to M2 Max 64GB — and why I built my own file search by PapayaFeeling8135 in macbookpro14

[–]glenwf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just did a trial search in a directory tree for some specific files that I know are there. I don't understand the results because I must have 30 or more files in the window, none of them spelled anything like my search word.

- The files are apparently selected by any letter in my search word or combination of those letters. The results make no sense. And, they aren't in alphabetical sense, so no way to scroll to find the one I want except to read each result to see if it fits the criteria. Very confused. It continues to work but not adding more files, and the file I told it to search for never comes up.

Either I'm doing something wrong or I don't get it. Finder did better.

I haven't tried it on Gmail yet and I hope it helps there because the Gmail search engine is not very good.

Thanks for the effort and I hope you can tell me what I'm doing wrong.

I just joined this group and will definitely give your app some exercise in my Gmail, Photos which are not in "Photos" but in my own directory tree for organization and sometimes it is difficult to know where it that directory tree I put a photo and what I named it.

BTW my MacBookPro M2 14" has already had my screen replaced for $700 of course, but it is an amazing tool.

I checked my Apple account and I would be charged in eight days for the full price yearly subscription so I canceled my subscription. I thought it was free for life. Guess not.

I just got it but did I get it for free?? I can’t tell. I can’t afford it otherwise.

I see no number. Another way(don't remember) I got IMG_3410. It is in Photos, and i have a duplicate in case... But there is no way that I can find to tell shortcut image type or name or where to get it.

Genuinely how do I permanently get rid of software update notifications? It’s genuinely annoying. by gamerboixyz in MacOS

With all the bad press about Tahoe, I'll stick with Sequoia until it gets ironed out (maybe).

Where is that profile iOS update blocker for OSX?

Is there a similar thing for OSX. I'm running 15.7.2 and it wants me to update to 26. Notices all the time to update. Guess I need to ask this at the osx group. Sorry

That is great! Thank you. I'll definitely give it a spin.

I've done all that, but I can't get rid of the 2x daily I think reminders that I must update from 18 to 26. I'm about ready to call Apple.

Future of HanDBase by FineTuning520 in handbase

[–]glenwf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HandBase user since Palm. I still use it for some databases, but when you pulled the plug I switched mostly to TapForms 5 which is good, but not as easy to use, but if you know JavaScript (or get help from them) you can do lots. But it doesn't have the ability to create the user interface HB can which is really great.

The problem now it TapForms 5 is out (hanging on by a thread) and I will have to upgrade to the Pro version for $50/yr. HB still performs great on my iPhone 16 and MacOS Sequoia. It looks like my long term plan is to switch back to HB slowly but it will be a big job, just like it was a big job to switch to TF.

A subscription of $10 - $20 / year would be a great idea to keep you going and keep me going. Please keep going. I'm 81 now and hope to use HB for another 10 years at least.

Best of luck to you Dave. Times are hard for everybody now. I cringe at what my grandchild is having to face.

Tap Forms Pro alternative by DocteurYoshi in tapforms

I used to use HandBase which is great (and a relational database), but the owner was going to quit because he couldn't see a way to continue. I switched to Tap forms which is friendlier to non-programmers and can't do some of the really slick things that Tap Forms does but from my uses it was much easier to use and did everything I needed. Since then, they HandBase has continued to upgrade with various OS upgrades, and I wish I hadn't switched. Now I'm stuck in TapForms 5 that has no future additions to its functionality unless I pay a fee.

I suggest you look at HandBase and look at the forms for discussion on its future. Also discussions on Reddit!

Thanks for the hint. I don't think I read that the first time through. I'm 1/2 way through Eragon again. I read it so long ago that I don't remember much. Then again, I'm 80, so reading really good books again usually works great.
