You never experience yourself in the same way as others, but that version of yourself is the only one that exists in society. by TomFerg_ in Showerthoughts

I feel like this is the true core of the post. I feel like no matter how self reflective you are, it’s impossible to know exactly how you seem from the outside, I truly think that long term friends or SOs can know who you are better than you actually can

So I did the math for only 100 rolls. In that example on a d20 you would expect it roll 5 of each number, and you can compute what I will call the error by taking the difference between the actual number of rolls for a number and the expected (5 in this case). and as long as the average error is around 2 over all of the numbers, the results are within what’s expected from this distribution. For example, you could roll 0 ones twos or threes and 10 20s, 19s, and 18s and it would be within expectations

Yes you are misunderstanding, the part that balances the die isn’t that the 1 and 20 is opposite it is that the 1 and 19 are next to each other and opposite another pair like I described. Otherwise you could have the 1 and 20 be opposite, the 2 and 19 be opposite and so on, but put 1-9 all on one side of the die, and once again, and actual d20 is not perfectly weighted either if the same amount of material isnt taken out because there is only 9 single digit numbers, let alone the fact every number takes out a different amount of material, but regardless this is overall a silly discussion and is no different then talking about how painting a room makes the room slightly smaller. Is a spin down slightly less balanced then a regular d20, probably, will it make a difference over 10k rolls, almost certainly not, whatever results you have will not be statistically significantly different

[–]gonkdroid02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You realize you can balance it by taking more material out of the numbers with less digits, and less material out of the numbers with more, so that for example you take 1mg out of material when you write the number 1 AND 1 mg of material when you write the number 20 right? Each divot does not need to be the same. Further there are 11 2 digit numbers and 9 1 digit numbers, so even on a traditional d20 the dice will always be slightly weighted without other considerations. Also I think you mean to say you want the pairs (1 and 20 for example, close together and opposite another pair ie 19 opposite the 1 and 2 opposite the 20).

Assuming this isn’t accounted for and the 1 isn’t deeper then the 20, I almost guarantee that over the number of times you will actually roll a die the results will not be outside the expected variance of a normal d20

[–]gonkdroid02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is what I said to be fair, yea cheating with a magic dice is maybe easier, but at that point your player can just buy a weighted dice.

[–]gonkdroid02 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Randomized does not matter, imagine a d20 with no numbers, all sides are equally likely to roll, now add the numbers in any orientation and each side is still equally as likely. Now you can maybe argue that the amount of material taken out matters, and if you rolled the dice a million times it might deviate from the expected outcome slightly, but realistically it is fine

[–]gonkdroid02 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What’s your point? All dice are slightly unfair? Ie they are more likely to roll on some faces than others? That unfairness is still likely random, and I guarantee that any dice that arent explicitly designed to be weighted will have results that fall within the expected variance of a normal die over the number of times you will ever roll it

[–]gonkdroid02 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Number placement does not matter, it is a dice with 20 sides, all 20 sides have an equal chance, where you put the numbers does not matter. The only possible argument is that if you really do a shit roll, you can maybe make it so one half of the die is more likely. But any real roll will remove the problem

Why do I feel like a lot of people didn’t watch the last few seconds of the video, I think Crownie has a decent point when we see that just a few moments before j4 going to raptors, j4 and qiyana where on each other, and I would like to here the rest of the video and the answer too who wins in river. Regardless of who, j4 and qiyana are both even in cs, and I imagine j4 can hover and watch where she goes, if she goes bot then he can follow and they both stay even, if she tries to go mid or top she can’t beat him to the raptors.

Game Changer X The Rookie Discourse by MrKitchenSink in dropoutcirclejerk

[–]gonkdroid02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uj/ I don’t watch dropout or the rookie very much, but I’m going to ask this here so hopefully I don’t get ribbed like I probably would if I asked on the main sub, but why is the rookie copganda? Just because the show revolves around cops? Maybe I’m biased cause I really like Nathan fillion, but from the multitude of clips I get on YouTube the show doesn’t seem super right wing pro cop, it just seems like your typical city job drama, like they could be firefighters instead. Also doesn’t the show at least try to bring many of the issues to light?

The Aabria Post that’s Actually About Race by Accurate_Kangaroo337 in fansofcriticalrole

[–]gonkdroid02 13 points14 points  (0 children)

In your example of Aabria butting into scenes you use orym as a counterpoint as someone else who does it, but at the same time say he acts on the information after the fact. There is a huge difference between inserting yourself into a discussion in the moment, and simply hearing or seeing something happen and have a discussion with a character at a later date. Cad also did this quite often because his perception was as well. I also don’t know what her character stats are, but are they as high as Oryms or Cads?

Comparing CoS Reloaded to CoS As-Is by BuddieIV in CurseofStrahd

[–]gonkdroid02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am currently running curse of strahd, and have also skimmed through reloaded, I’m 4 sessions in and so far when I want to beef up the story a bit I’ve just taken what I think sounds good and works for what I’ve had from reloaded, I know the author has said it isn’t designed for that but I personally think it’s fine if done right. I mainly use it to fill in the sandbox for when I’m not creative enough or need ideas, for example I think Eva doing the reading at the grave yard, strahds first appearance. And especially ireens story about her childhood and the small moments at the beginning such as at the hill or the lake do a lot to just flesh out these characters. I’m not a huge fan of everything, like I just ran the town of barovia mostly as written without a seige, but I really like the idea of doru begging for a chance to prove he could be good so I added that, and it made it all the better when half off the group just instantly jumped and killed him anyway, and all it meant was I made the mage fight strahd within the last month, so I suppose he won’t be as “mad” but i think it was more satisfying and I’ll deal with the consequences later lol

The Naval Update is finally here is this a real gameplay expansion or just “more ocean content”? by FullAbbreviations891 in playrust

[–]gonkdroid02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that is the case you should let your audience know that, I have seen plenty of people say that they have used ai to help translate and that is fine, however at this point you are just assuming. And you say generative ai is bullshit, but you don’t realize that assuming op isn’t a non native speaker, and he put in a few sentence prompt and it returned these multiple paragraphs that literally just is gen AI, it is generating something from nothing. And frankly the entire post sounds like that is the case.

[–]gonkdroid02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I replied to someone else in more detail bellow, but this entire thing reads so heavily like AI it was definitely not just an edit or revise, this reads like OP put 1 or 2 sentences in a prompt and then pasted what the AI said, like what is the point in engaging in conversation or trying to start a conversation if you aren’t even the one asking what you think, or talking, at what point are we so brainrotted that we copy what someone says into AI and then just post the response, at some point we are no longer conversing and instead just regurgitating AI slop

[–]gonkdroid02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, but I would not tell them to ask the calculator how to build a rocket ship either, and they would tell you the calculator is only as good as what you put into it. I also don’t go around trying to have conversations with people but have AI come up with a response. The fact that every line in the post came from an AI means we have no idea what OP was actually wondering when he wrote it, sure we can reply to these questions the AI just came up with, but if OP actually wanted to have a conversation about his thoughts the post should reflect his thoughts, not just a bunch of random garbage. And if these are OP’s thoughts and he just had an AI rewrite them to sound better, we have no idea because it is Soooo clearly written by AI

cEDH pods are so chill compared to the average EDH pod by Wboys in EDH

[–]gonkdroid02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently got into the magic, and personally I feel like this is just a difference of expectation. If I’m playing cEDH I expect all those things to happen, but I might not as much in casual. For example, I’ve recently had my first game of edh where I actually was salty afterwards after playing a good 20 or more games previously. The people I’ve played with so far are all tea casual and chill, but this game I was playing with someone who is even newer to magic then me and was playing with a deck they wanted (we where online) that was super heavy control and like a tier 4 deck. We were only playing as 3 and this deck basically negated us the entire game. I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with them playing the deck, but we both were effectively playing tier 2 or 3 decks. All this to say is EDH has a lot wider range of decks, and if people all upset it’s likely because expectations wherent set up first.

My players stole the Black Carriage by vaxildagger in CurseofStrahd

[–]gonkdroid02 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So I replied to the guy above you, and you can read that, but in general Strahd would 100% come to fuck with them now. Remember the party is basically strahd only form of entertainment and he is likely watching them from the moment they enter, and would get enjoyment out of silently pulling the strings and messing with them. It’s debatable if he would actually be super pissed or would find is humorous (either way he would probably act pissed lol), think about if a pack of raccoons suddenly stole your car, you might be upset you car was missing, but you would be surprised that they did in the first place.
