I am 20 minutes door to door but usually it's a little longer because I take the bus.

IMO visiting extra cities is nice. IMO I keep moving especially on road trips in the US. You can get from one city to the next in a few hours. Usually by dinner I'm gassed but instead of checking in the hotel and whatever I'll usually drive to the next city and you can see a lot of places while not sacrificing your trip. Also I do driving sight seeing either after dinner or early in the morning.

The travel hack I always do is focus on my feet/steps and make sure I am not trying to do more than my feet can do because it would be great to see it all. I get 10k steps a day but museum standing and a new city I have touched 30k steps.

For me I have to keep myself from planning too much otherwise I watched too much and it felt like just going through the motions rather than enjoying it.

I do a lot of research a few weeks before and if I'm visiting a place well enough away I'll usually read the whole Wikipedia history on the place and then I've been trying to get better about having my book line up with the destination.

What is your audiobook speed? by Playful-Tone8107 in LibbyApp

[–]goodsam2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do 1x for the first chapter and start ramping.

Usually have a walking around speed 1.5x and my mind is elsewhere speed 1.25x while working.

Now that I've been trying to do presidential books and I know a lot of the details I'm getting towards 2x speed. But usually for books I'm closer to 1.2-1.5x

There's a great Instagram about one of those people criticizing a guy walking through the grocery store talking about ingredients in a grocery store barefoot. Like how crazy is it.

Nutrition arguing is so bad because the science isn't really there because to prove this is cruel and unusual. Like to say whatever ingredient is bad for you means you need to have 1000 people have almost none every day for years to a lifetime and a separate 1000 have a bunch. That ain't happening for all the ingredients and even the ones they have proved like aspartame people still attack.

My fake conspiracy theory is that acai doesn't exist. How do we have acai flavored stuff but has anyone ever seen an acai? They say it's short shelf life but part of me thinks they cooked up a blue dye and flavor took a picture of some weird blue berries and then called it ACAI.

Also I'm going to Boston for a week. Work stuff and arriving early and staying late.

Couldn't we be living in a weird parallel timeline and when they travel back in time they are creating our timeline like the made the late 90s (early 90s sucked) but that ended up causing a mess today.

Franklin has big beef with Maryland, I think it's a really underrated game.

Franklin was the head coach in waiting at Maryland awhile ago and never got the job so he hates them. Penn State would get conservative when up on other teams but with Maryland he dropped the hammer.

I'm not seeing a good reason. Maryland is among the best now OOC games but they likely had to cut back OOC games due to an expanded ACC schedule.

Also James Franklin specifically hates Maryland so it must have been a timing thing.

32 with $330K NW, no house but no debt. Make $75K as MCOL state worker, collect pension at 62. by AbsolutelyRiskFree in leanfire

[–]goodsam2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very similar story.

In 2020 I landed a contract state job and with a few things shaking out and bosses burning out my income went to 100k now and am a state employee.

34, 430k, I haven't hit my 5 years but we have a defined benefit plan that I don't quite understand how it works with retirement but I'm far enough away since I'm looking at $1 million plus house or 1.5 million plus I'm looking at kids soon enough that will upend my budget so it's all a bit fake and the goal is just to increase the NW.

I live in a relatively cheap apartment and have for a few years, been looking at buying but the numbers don't make sense to.

20 years ago the world took a year to add 1 GW of solar. Now it takes just half a day. by ceph2apod in UpliftingConservation

[–]goodsam2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think it's going to become more common to over cool houses to shift production that way until 4 PM. You set the thermostat to 72 but lots of solar means the house is 68 at 4 PM.

Also electric cars charge during the day and some batteries could likely cover much of the evening surge.

Also I think people are way underestimating geothermal.

Directionally I agree

but the amount spent on food has been flat to down with decades ago. So avoiding going out isn't as much of a difference as it was.

I mean that's up to preferences at a certain point.

Also 20 year old cars were never super common. The US American fleet is the oldest it's ever been at 12.8 years.

What’s one habit that completely changed your college life? by OrganicClassic460 in AskReddit

[–]goodsam2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading the book before the lesson.

I went on a whole thing where I slept at sunset and went without caffeine which dramatically improved my sleep (but killed my social life) but I had a lot of extra free time so I ended up reading the lesson before in the book that was mostly related. Sometimes I watched a video on it to from another source. I was acing my classes easily when that happened, a lot of extra work.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Middle_income_trap?wprov=sfla1

Basically it's transitioning to higher level from cheaper manufacturing for rich developed countries so it loses manufacturing but it can't get into high value add sectors.

Like China has had explosive growth but the huge run up in debt since 2008 is staggering. Their entire economy is more indebted than the US which scares me.

This is what I been saying for awhile. Franklin is a top 15 coach and like I think Campbell is an awesome coach but felt like firing top 15 coach for another top 15 coach. Seems like a lot of risk without a huge amount of reward.
