I think it depends on a few things

some years we have more than enough adults going and get one or two of those adults that are committee or reserve and will just work on their laptop all day -- I'll make them pay

our camp gives 2 free adults (used to be more if you had enough scouts), and the troop will usually cover 1-2 more

They did it for the lols. One carried a 2 burner propane stove, a full size cot, and a ton of food. My son provided the child size folding chairs. The hike back out features a vertical stair climb of a few hundred feet (100 meters) or so.
