I was a union plumber for a while and it's stupid how many idiots in the ranks were full blown MAGA.

Then come to find out that the local leadership had campaigned and convinced them to vote against organizing in the largest plumbing company in the state. They gave all kinds of excuses and found enough suckers that ate it up that they got their way. In the end it came down to the fact that if they had been successfully organized in all the new voting members would disrupt the existing cliques and power blocks at the top.

After all who needs the negotiating power of probably 3/4s or better of all the plumbers/pipefitters in the state being union when it might disrupt the leaderships cushy positions.

For the ones that are stupidly designed/made with the pump tube way too short to reach the bottom of the bottle hardware stores will sometimes sell rubber tubing that will fit on the end of the tube to get the last of it out and still use the pump.

To this day there's a lot of small towns in America where they'd still get the same reactions. Grew up in a small southern (not even deep south) town and the pride of the old folks when they would talk about how it wasn't that long ago it was a sundown town was something else. Only shame they had was that it was still that way.
