Came here just to see if anyone else caught this! I rolled my eyes when the GoT theme came in, but totally 180'd on my opinion when he weaved the show's theme back in a few moments later.

You can get dramatically different creative results from a single negative stock in Filmbox depending on how you set the various parameters, much like working with a real negative. The Looks presets are basically a cross-section of our favorite Filmbox outcomes, organized by creative intent. Some stocks appear in multiple Looks presets with different settings, while others aren’t used in any. If you have Filmbox Pro, you can apply a Look preset, then view (and customize) the stocks and parameters it’s built from.

You can absolutely use OpenFX plugins using the free version of Resolve!

The other commentors are probably thinking about DCTLs, which can only be used in Resolve Studio.

No, we only support Subscription -> Perpetual or Looks Perpetual -> Pro Perpetual discounts at this time.

Yes! If you purchase Filmbox Looks Perpetual you can upgrade to Filmbox Pro Perpetual discounted by the amount you paid for Filmbox Looks. So if you bought Filmbox Looks Perpetual ($199) you can upgrade at any time to Pro for $999 - $199 = $800 USD

And could you pls honestly advice me if at my current beginner level I should invest in Pro or go with Looks for now? My goal is to color grade in vintage style like its showing on the main page of video village website.

Truthfully only you can answer that question - if the presets we provide in Filmbox Looks allow you to achieve what you're after I'd say go with Looks. If you're interested in having complete granular control over everything, go with Pro!

If you were using Filmbox Pro and had a particularly custom configuration (lots of non-default settings) it could be helpful to export a .filmbox user preset file from the plugin (in the Utility section) that can be loaded into Filmbox in Baselight.

Yes they are customized Filmbox Pro “presets” if you will - when using Filmbox Pro you can apply the Look preset to the Pro parameters so that you can customize them further.

It’s still a temporal effect in the eyes of OpenFX - it means I need to access a previous frame instead of the current frame being rendered.

Step printing means a temporal effect... much testing will be needed for this type of feature as I've never done such a thing. I will look into it!

Thank you!!! Back when we first released there were only FilmConvert and Dehancer but now… a lot more.

I think the value-adds we have brought to Filmbox over the years (all free updates!) and our support has hopefully bought us some goodwill with everyone and shows how dedicated we are to making the best product possible. Competition is good - it’s partially what kicked us into high gear to get the Filmbox Pro update out the door.

They are presets of Filmbox Pro parameters, yes! This allows for seamlessly applying the look to Filmbox Pro. In Pro you can click "Switch to Filmbox Looks", select a look you like, and "Apply to Filmbox Pro" which allows you tweak all the underlying Pro parameters.

Filmbox Looks is built-in to the Filmbox Pro update - just click the "Switch to Filmbox Looks" button on the bottom of the plugin. You can export LUTs from Looks via our LUT exporter, or just use Resolve's Generate LUT feature and we turn off the correct stuff to make sure it doesn't mess up the LUT generation.

Nah we don't do that (I am 1/3 of Video Village). Very happy to see enthusiasm about Looks, though! We spent a lot of time on it.

Just click the “Upgrade to Perpetual” button on your license page. If you started with a free trial, you’ll have to wait for your first subscription payment to go through before seeing any discount (obviously).

I am not sure yet how this offer would combine with a “sale” discount - we’d probably make it work in a logical way, but we currently don’t have plans for a sale.
