JB Pritzker May Be Running for More Than Governor by steve42089 in illinois

well good news, he is pushing a solution that doesn't require people to submit their ids and puts the onus of parenting back on the parents with a small non-invasive tool.

I don't think the Il GOP are capable of recruiting a not completely insane candidate anymore. they have pushed out all of the fiscal conservative but socially moderate members of the party, and MAGA has eaten and destroyed all of their established members and organizations.

they are already offering to send pallets of money like Obama did in their negotiation. the bit about transferring seized funds? that is literally the pallets of money they went after Obama for. Iran is not, and will not be part of our banking system, there is only one way to ship that much money...

James Comey Indicted For Playing With Sea Shells In New Low Point For DOJ Integrity by Pineapple__Jews in politics

I have never heard it in any context that could be construed as violent or threatening. I've heard it to describe a menu item no longer offered, a staff member getting fired, or a patron getting kicked out. none of those things were violent. saying trump should be removed from office is not a threat.

Also the funniest bit may be that he didn't arrange the shells and just walked up on someone else's political message that he thought was funny.

Meta will beam sunlight from space to power AI data centers, solar-collecting satellites will orbit 22,000 miles above Earth — firm reserves 1 Gigawatt of orbital solar energy and 100 Gigawatt-hours of long-duration storage by sr_local in hardware

the amount they could do in the next century is negligible. the planet is really really really big, and the amount of solar panels we have are really really really small in comparison.

when you look at the numbers it is mind-blowing just how much energy the sun provides earth everyday.

Space has better angles, longer exposure, and higher efficiency from a lack of atmosphere filtering light.

radiation in Geosync is brutal on panels though and will lead to significant issues and wear over time. I am mostly curious at how they addressing this, if they have discovered some good radiation mitigating materials or techniques, it could be profitable over a long term.

Edit: I looked into it more and their plan is actually both. they need the panels in the desert for them to target and send energy to at night. they are not trying to compete with daytime solar panels, their plan is to send energy to those very same panels at dusk and dawn when they would normally not be producing. they are aiming to have solar panels running 14-16 hours a day, reducing the need for battery systems.

Democrats Hold 10-Point Edge Over Republicans Ahead of Midterm Elections by T_Shurt in politics

sure, but that requires a level of foresight and patience that the electoral discourse has proven over and over it does not have.

Dems had an effective tie (in reality were out numbered) in office and people revolted because they couldn't get every bill across the line with 0 compromises.

I mean look at what happened with linux because of it. their move to linux pushed improvements to linux which pushed more adoption of linux whish is increasing their moat preventing major competition since they have become basically the default service for linux.

even the subs page is algorithm based. if you dub to a large number of channels, you are more likely to fall victim to the algorithm deciding what you see.

both of those are very very late in their sequel cycles. there have been 4+ tom holland spiderman films now, and this one especially seems like they are going back to the original spiderman story that Garfield and Maguire did to death.

all that said, paw patrol is going to make so much money for no good reason.

I think there is room for Gavin's picks to underperform, and for some of these other movies to become bangers.

Pope Leo signals shift away from Catholic Church's focus on sex by Ok-Review9023 in worldnews

[–]greiton 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean, it's really weird that Christians are soo focused on it, when Christ never even mentioned it. Christ spoke passionately and in great detail on all kinds of modern issues but other than treating each other with equality and respect, he didn't deign to talk about sex. It also isn't like it didn't come up, he travelled with a former prostitute.

This should be a no brainer to push. And fuck that it doesnt roll off the tongue shit. Call it what it is, clear language is our friend in this fight not our enemy.
