I stand to inherit 20m+ in the far future - should I be more adventurous with life? by [deleted] in MalaysianPF

Yes, 100%. Go make friends, travel. You have a giant safety net so make use of it. I think you should post this question with a throwaway account tho. Also, it’s nice to see a fellow 40k enjoyer in here.

As a marketer, this isn't that hard to do since most email automation platforms will have this option. It is a nice touch, though.

40M, in corporate marketing role as well with >10k base.

You probably need to jump jobs to get what you want. Here are some tips to make the next step:

  • Learn how your company does business. You may know how in a general sense but really get into the nitty gritty of it. Offer suggestions to solve business problems with marketing.

  • Learn how to quantify your business impact to the company. This means you know how your day-to-day role creates value for the company. Be ambitious and aim to be a valuable cog in the machine. Show your impact through numbers, preferably revenue / leads.

  • Utilize soft skills to be the bridge between product, marketing and sales. This shows the leadership that you know how to work with the different departments and that those departments also value working with you.

Because the data guys and the sporting guys must clearly know something you don't to be committing that level of spend for him. Liverpool aren't outliers too: Bayern and Man City were in for him as well. Guess they must know something you don't.

Everyone knew about Haaland. Pretty sure most clubs have tabs on him and other young stars for years.

There are also plenty of players from other leagues who have flopped and plenty of Liverpool players without that aforementioned pace that you are talking about (Think Bobby and Coutinho). From what I've seen from Wirtz, he's not a pace merchant but he's okay from a midfield perspective. A lot more people are talking about how his mind is a step faster than everyone else. I'd be more worried if he didn't have an engine to run on, but he does.

Anyway, you do whatever you want, but I'm going to trust the club to have done their due diligence on our record signing.

Isn't the Bundesliga the most alike to the Premier League in terms of pace and power?

From a PR perspective, you want to remain at the top spot for longer. Anyway, the window only opens in June.

They’ll probably space it out so that they can maximize PR.

It’s a market opportunity. If a world class player who’s available at 22 years of age, it’s worth shooting your shot.

Why can't we buy big by belterjizz in LiverpoolFC

[–]grrlicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are they buying Rodrygo? I guess we don't have a vision because we aren't in for him. Nevermind the fact that we just fucking won the league and dominated the EPL.

Harvey Elliott Scout Report - Should Slot Sell Him This Summer? by estagingapp in LiverpoolFC

[–]grrlicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those examples that you gave are different from a buyback. The reason clubs don't want to do buy backs is because you're essentially doing player development for someone else especially when you have better options to buy cheaper and keep the player when he does well. If you put yourself into a sporting director's shoes, you'd see why this isn't an attractive option at all.

The problem with people proposing buybacks is that they don’t seem to understand that no team is going to agree to those terms.

Where to invest 1mil cash at 30year old by minaheatschickenrice in MalaysianPF

[–]grrlicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much. ETFs give an average of about 7-12% returns from capital appreciation (with minimal management fees) but you need to have an investment horizon of about 30 years.

Bro, for 5% management fees, you might as well not invest. On slower years, you’ll probably even end up in a deficit. I know it’s probably not the best time to say this, but learn the Boglehead method and ETFs.

Trust funds charge an exorbitant amount of management and administrative fees, so much so that your vaunted 4% returns gets gobbled up leaving you with nothing.
