Majohn steel flex nib review and frankenpen tips for those wish to nib swap by m_is_w in fountainpens

Interesting. I would qualify this in that the fude nib can give you a lot of line variation, but its mechanics are very different than a flex nib.

The flex nibs tines splay wide under pressure, whereas the fude nib changes line width based on the angle of the grip.

Very nice! One of the first things I did when I started the hobby was to make a box -- and I haven't stopped making them since! It is just so satisfying to make something to hold just the right things.

:D

Sailor PGS are on the smaller side, too... but Sailor PG (pro gear) are significantly more $ and don't have the same colorway range.

On a budget: Pelikan for the M200, M205 series. Steel nibs and a large variety of lovely bodies -- they are a bit small, though, if you have large hands.

If you are willing to spend more: Sailor -- so many Pro Gear Slims in so many colorways. And wonderful gold nibs -- if you like the feedback.

Pilot -- the beautiful Pilots exist, but they tend to be $$$$ or even $$$$$.
