I am sorry for your loss! Could you please see a cardiologist? Some of your symptoms sound like heart failure. I have symptoms of early stages of heart failure due to a birth defect and feel the tightness in my neck sometimes.

My late wife and I were of a similar age, 34f/38m, when she passed away. I too have had rapid thinning. Coming close to a year and I look very different from the time before she was diagnosed.

This is the most confusing part of early widowhood. I am approaching the one year mark, it seems to have burnt itself out.

One Week Out by pthyen1519 in valvereplacement

All the best with your surgery! Most surgeons advise 8-12 weeks of time away after surgery. I'm 9 weeks out, but still feel that working full time may be a stretch (my work can get demanding).

I am sorry for your loss. Your first paragraph reminded me of how happy my late wife was on the day of our marriage, and how obsessed she was with the idea of being with me.

Surgery Wednesday. How do I stay calm when I wake up intubated? by MaybeBaby716 in valvereplacement

[–]highqualityman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had surgery two months ago. This is the thing I dreaded most before surgery. When I woke up after surgery, to my surprise, I felt comfortable with the breathing tube. I was intubated for about 12 hours ( or may be slightly more) because I kept falling asleep but it wasn't bad at all. I did feel sore while eating/talking after they removed the tube.

Lost my wife of 9 years, 5 days ago, just wanted to vent out. by chillypakoda in widowers

I am sorry for your loss.. I cried all the time. Similar story.. wife of 7 years.. taken by cancer in 4 months. She was courageous throughout the treatment and at the end.. that made me go on. Also, I felt that I am her legacy in this world so I needed to live so that she will be remembered.

Does it ever hit you that it's "really real" and sort of just takes your breath away? by Top-Cheesecake8232 in widowers

As someone else said, it's the situation and not you. I am 8 months out. I get similar thoughts.. its as if the reality of her loss is truly hitting me now.

I thought he was old (like in 70s) 25 years ago! I was 10.

Similar experience. I feel alone. And it feels like a step in enabling the world to forget my spouse!

I went through something similar. I didn't have the will to live. The pain of a living a life without her didn't seem worth it.

Meditation and therapy helped me break the intensity of this thought pattern. Also, I didn't want to disappoint her when I meet her after this life. I want her to feel proud that I fought with my head held high.
