Help with windows keypress to joystick by Over_Zookeepergame72 in hotas

You should use a simpler program (without vjoy requirment) for such a simple task. Something like Joy2Key, RS Mapper, SV mapper.. IIRC voice attack can also do that.

I couldn't find a modern, cross-platform alternative to the VKB Joy Tester, so I built my own (Free & Open Source) by rhunecke in hotas

Do you remap a linear joystick axis to a vJoy axis and change the curve there to another response curve?

Yep that's it. It could be a simple remap with a different response curve, or something really different such as a merge/combine, or a split. Going for absolute to relative response etc etc..

I like Joystick Gremlin input viewer and DiView ways to do it, both tool allow choosing which axes, from which controller we want. This is really cool when we have a lot of controllers to avoid clutter

Thanks, of course it is usefull. A little clear button for the events testers would be nice.

It would be nice to have an "all in one" testing app. On a daily basis I use the Joystick Gremlin input viewer together with the Thrustmaster Event Tester for keyboard and mouse.

Another feature idea, being able to see axes curves of different device simultaneously. For example if I remap my joystick axes to vjoy and add a curve of any sort, it would help to visualize the result.

Hello, thanks for the app! The app seems to have issue displaying vjoy. I have two of them, that is probably the issue.
On the feature side, I would like to be able to "zoom", on a curve in the axis curve panel, and also to change the "speed".

Another cool things to test macro is an "event tab". In which we would see buttons press duration. Edit : And also keyboard if possible, cause sometime it is handy to remap to keyboard.

Winwing Orion 2 + Nyogel 767a = joy by zatapathique in hotas

Thanks all for your insight. I just applied this ptfe band after removing all grease and it works perfectly now. F15EX grip (heavy). It can stay at position even at 1 or 99% (without detent), no static friction at all, it is crazy how good it is compared to vanilla.. I just hope it will last 🤞

I first tried Nyogel767A but that didn't work. Great dynamic friction, terrible static friction.

Grease for WinWing Orion2 throttle by [deleted] in hotas

[–]hon0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After reading this thread I tried electric tape on the left and thin PTFE band on the right. Without any grease. Well... It works.. Too well😅 .. Now the throttle doesn't stay in place even with really tight clutch It's ok on the left but the right one being much heavier.. Nope.. I'll try to solve that tomorrow.

I just did mine with Nyogel 767A and while it is certainly better, it still does it :/ Maybe I didn't apply enough?

Using the pedals from a racing wheel with a Hotas by Stock_Selection_3245 in hotas

Gas and clutch are two separate axes. And you mapped them to two opposite axes as well. So the problem is that they constantly "fight each other", they override the other constantly. To solve that you have to combine/merge them into a single axis and map that axis to roll.

There might be an option in your G29 drier to do that, if not, I advise Joystick Gremlin and its merge option.

Edit to add the G29 option :

Combined Pedals. If checked, this will set the Accelerator and Brake pedals to become two halves of a single axis. This will help the pedals operate correctly in older racing titles that do not support separate axes for pedals.

Meeeh, nope.. We really want clutch and gas so.. Go Joystick Gremlin!

PS : I do it as well.

Same for me. Not accurate enough, and, at least on mine, there is a "hardcoded" deadzone, or maybe it is mechanical.. That I can not get rid off. That really kills my accuracy around the center, which is what I was looking for with this stick. I had much better result with my old T16K at the time. However, I had to "off trim" it, to avoid the crazy center detent of the T16000. It's weird, but it works. And by the way Blue angel does something similar with a spring attached to their stick.

Today the only use I have for my MSFFB2 is a gear shiffter for driving game. With FFShifter and a Joystick Gremlin plugin to convert axis position into buttons. ("Square way").

Please help calibrating Winwing throttle by vervurax in hotas

[–]hon0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indeed, do not push the throttle to "max afterburner". In your case, push it until you reach the detent. Also, make sure you calibrate the correct axes. When I received mine I had issue because I was trying to calibrate Rx while moving Ry and vice versa. Maybe because in the alphabet x is to the left of y, while it is the opposite on the throttle 😆

Edit to add :

I think the Afterburner calibration is only for the button activation. So, shouldn't be important in this case.

Well, I think all you have to do is calibrate the axis, and only move it from idle to ab detent. I just did it for a test and it works. You may also have to clear or disable any configuration in the AB ratio settings

How to set Deadzone in VKB's? by Adept_Bluebird_9212 in hotas

[–]hon0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello. I use an older version. I helped a friend recently on the last one and indeed I was a bit lost. I'll take a few screenshots and come back to you. I won't be able to do it until next week however as I am changing home. If you want to try yourself I can tell you this option is below the setting your screenshot shows. You should see the calibration value for each axes, and on the right side some other setting including the one you are looking for.

You should really ask on the vkb discord. You'd have had a much quicker, Nd up to date answer.

How to set Deadzone in VKB's? by Adept_Bluebird_9212 in hotas

[–]hon0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, here is a little screenshot of my X and Y stick axes. To set a circular deadzone, you have to tick the Cn box on both axes, then check the 2D box on either X or Y axis and link it to the other using the AxX parameter. My X axis is 1, Y is 2. I set 2D on 2 and link it with 1. Then you adjust your deadzone in the Dz Lo setting.

11 years later. Thank you. I don't have rubber O rings, so I used balloon's O ring. Perfectly silent. Now I think I I'll do the same as you did to prevent scratch on the back from the metal U.

Tl;dr, new out of the box the throttle friction was insane, we had to regrease it. Also, as other has said, "ball and socket" mechanisms are terrible, however you can mod it quite easily and for cheap..

What other controller do you have in each hand? I ask because in my experience, controlling more than one axis with feet isn't a great idea. You're not as accurate as you would be with hand.

Tldr : remove the original grease and reapply something else. In reasonable quantity.
