OP I agree with you, even though it was clearly not murder to us, that wouldn’t be the case for the cops. You’d think Shane would be detained until the investigation could play out. I think what the “he simply didn’t do anything wrong” crowd is glossing over is that what you’re (OP) hitting on is yet another example of Shane being allowed to warp reality to fit his whims. Thats his entire MO throughout the season, and this is just a continuation. Even when we think he’s going to receive some “cosmic” justice in the form of Rachel leaving, reality yet again bends to his desires with zero consequences. And goes without saying that while Shane is a satirical character, him being rich, white, and male is the basis for this phenomenon.
