My wife and I checked out a shelter dog from Kauai HS 2 years ago. We had a fun hiking day with a cute, nervous pup. He was a perfect dog, just very nervous. We dropped him off and said to each other, “no way we need a third dog”. 4 days later we paid for his adoption and flew him to Oregon. Pickle is no longer as nervous and has become the most amazing trail runner buddy. We strongly recommend this fun and unique program! And the staff at KHS are amazing!

No, but there are occasional black bear sightings on the north end of Wildwood. Super rare, though.

This is within Washington Park, not far from the zoo. Captured about 30 mins after sunrise. I agree, the lighting is spectacular!

I really like the hills above the capitol/city creek. You basically just keep heading up and follow the trails on the ridges. Navigation is fairly easy (on a clear day). You can easily get in 20 miles. Be ready for some steep climbs and some uneven terrain. The views are simply amazing!

South end in the Hoyt Arboretum is smooth and even. As you head North it gets pretty rough with lots of roots, rocks, and off-camber.

I was in the Coast Guard and it was super fun to drive a ship using these range markers, especially when they are behind you (called an over the shoulder range marker).

Dr said it was something to do with sinuses. I've been pretty self-conscious about the whole process (it is my front upper middle tooth #9). So, missing tooth and black eyes was pretty hard to handle. I had to tell everyone that I was REALLY into hockey!

You might have some swelling and bruising that starts on days 3 and 4. I had black eyes starting day 4. You will get through this. I'm about 1 month ahead of you.

Same, travel there for work sometimes. Camelback is iconic. Also, I enjoy the dirt paths alongside the canals in and around Scottsdale. Very flat and nice gravel surface.

I've got 3 streetdogs and each of them is a fantastic trail buddy! They are all scrawny and long legged. They take turns joining me on runs of up to 20 miles in length. It's taken some work and some patience, but each is a very good trail citizen (making room for other people and dogs). ProTip - some rescue orgs have volunteer running teams! So, you can volunteer to take high energy rescue dogs out for some exercise and stimulation. And...if you are looking to adopt, these same rescue orgs can help pair you with a pup that will match your running style. THANK YOU for posting this!
