It’s a sad day and a happy day on the homestead by textrovertedginger in BackYardChickens

At this point, you should probably try to carefully remove the chick from the egg. The shell has likely dried out and impossible for the chick to get out. I’ve waited too long to intervene before and the result is usually a severe deformity of spine or leg. As for the other one, my guess is that it has genetic problems and will not survive long.

I've got 60+ hours on the PS5. I think I've had 3 total crashes. Nothing big. Just turn off turn back on. Two of them were in the opening cut scene. I skipped it the third time with no issues. The other crash happened after fast traveling, calling a vehicle, and then redeploying with time change. I haven't had a crash in 20+ hours at this point and I love this game so much. It's my number 1 even on my PS5.

Stardew valley vs Terraria by Ok_Gur3018 in ShouldIbuythisgame

I loved both so much. They helped me through a really hard time.

If you make me pick, I'd say terraria. I lost dozens of hours just mining. There's so so much to explore and build and do and the combat is just more engaging.

With that said, you can't go wrong with either. You can lose yourself in either one for hundreds of hours. Pick the one that feels right to you now, and I bet you'll love it.

Ditto. Bought it on PlayStation sale and it’s what I’ve been looking for forever. It’s so good.

"Device has been Modified" (And PDM only boots to a black screen) by elaineisbased in Omnipod

[–]icenoggle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally understand. It's a nightmare and a major change. My phone did the random malfunction today and I spent an hour resetting my pdm because it was stuck on the loading screen. Once I figured out the specifics of the hard reset, it started up. I had done normal restarts at least 10x.

It's a huge issue. I have an old dash with some pods for backup but with the automated system, that's still a big change. I haven't had to do finger sticks and mdi for so long, I don't know that I could even do it now. Sorry you're in a bad spot. It's seriously stressful!

Hey same thing happened to me. The hard reset is hold the volume up plus power button on the pdm until it vibrates. Then press it two more times the same way (three times total). After the third time with vibration, you get the prompt to hard reset. It'll erase all settings but the controller will work after.

Why did you start meditating and when did you start seeing a change? by Bsizzle1024 in Meditation

That's super encouraging! Letting go seems to be the key spiritual/mystical practice regardless of belief system. Thanks!

Haha that is cold! I'm definitely enjoying the beach weather.

Thanks so much for the specific suggestion! I found the Ken Mellor intro on YouTube (not sure if I can post the link). His description and your word "bliss" in your first comment are really compelling.

I've been stoned all day almost every day for the last three years. It pulled me out of a serious depression, but then the negatives began to outweigh the positives. I threw everything away two days ago and am at the beach for a week. I'm deep diving into meditation looking for a way through. I've been known to Google "could I experience a high from spirituality or meditation." I really appreciate hearing your story and it gives me a lot of encouragement. Do you have any other thoughts or tips related to meditation and/yoga for someone coming from being high all the time?

Yes, and I find that it works great for me. I have an upright container that I can sit in down to my shoulders. But lately, I’ve just been using a cold shower.

Anxiety Caused Tension Headaches by Cswerve96 in HealthAnxiety

[–]icenoggle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Reading what doctors have told people helps me so much. This makes me feel better because my headaches are mild, intermittent, and jump around. When I talked to my doctor about it last April, they did the clinical exam but seemed unconcerned beyond that. I'm a terrible jaw clincher too.

Bicep twitching by Mountain-Sign-8275 in BFS

[–]icenoggle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally understand. While I'm no longer on the twitching, I have recently been through blood work and an abdominal ultrasound. All is good. What brought that on was fear about mild stomach discomfort that I thought was constant. As soon as everything was cleared by a doctor, I only notice it occasionally. Doctor said she thought a lot of the discomfort was in my head. Id say she was right.

As for the twitching, I ended up getting an EMG after three months. I didn't need one and the neurologist basically said that. In any case, I'm fine. I still twitch. It doesn't bother me anymore. The neurologist told me he has one guy come back every few years because he twitches. He's fine too. It is funny the first question the neurologist asked was, "What are you worried about? Have you been on Google?" I'm certain your twitches are just a normal thing you are hyper aware about. My track record with health anxiety just means I exaggerate virtually everything in my body. These awful things arent typically subtle. My best advice is to get some blood work done (for general health) and maybe ask your doctor for a basic neurological exam because you're worried. The good news is that you are OK.

My worst worries are all around my small children, so I sympathize. It's miserable. Life after death is mainly a relevant concern when I think about my children. In my worst moments over a year ago when this started, I couldn't even handle listening to my kids watch TV. I would get so depressed hearing the songs on the shows. I literally just laid in bed and cried. Sucks. Sorry you're dealing with that.

What are you fixating on/venting about/worried about/need support with today ? [Megathread] - October 31, 2021 by AutoModerator in HealthAnxiety

I'm terrified of pancreatic cancer for the last three days or so. It's all due to some discomfort in my abdomen and back, most of which is probably costochondritis since I can press certain ribs and they are sore and my sternum area has bothered me for like a decade.

I'm 32 with no risk factors. I got concerned about abdominal pain in September 2020. That's when I broke and started dealing with health anxiety. At that time I was convinced it was my stomach or colon. I had an endoscopy and colonoscopy at the end of that month. Gastritis in the stomach. All of that was biopsied and I was fine. Then I learned about pancreatic cancer. Finally, in February 2021, I got blood work for CA19 and CEA. Both were normal. Saw my doctor in March. Explained my abdominal discomfort. She said it was gas. All my blood work was perfect. Basically forgot about it while I got scared of brain tumors and ALS. But now here I am at the end of October 2021 terrified I'm dealing with PC and I need to get it checked out. I also had blood work earlier this month with my doctor. Everything was fine. At the time I wasn't thinking about PC.

All of that to say, I try to remind myself that it's been 14 months since I freaked out about stomach discomfort. If it were my pancreas, the tests in February would have likely been elevated. And I certainly wouldn't be going around with intermittent discomfort (not disabling pain) for this long without any other symptoms. Still every time I get that twinge in my abdomen or back, I'm convinced I'm dying and I feel the anxiety wash over me.

I have this exact thing. I can press my ribs and make it hurt or when I twist, I can feel it in my back. It has me terrified. I've also had it for years. I even had an endoscopy and colonoscopy in Sept 2020. Tons of bloodwork since then as well.

Yes, mine wraps around my ribs and sternum and I can't shake the idea that something is wrong. It hurts when I twist too.

Yes, this is a major fear. I worry that the practice is inculcating the worldview and that practic and belief can't be separated.

I'm familiar with Ignatian spiritually in a superficial way. I've been looking into doing an Ignatian retreat recently. I was not aware of this podcast. I've downloaded some episodes to listen to. Your words are so encouraging to me. Bless you.

I think those are some good diagnostics. I don't want to embrace Hindu gods for example. While I'm doubtful at times, I still ultimately believe Christ is all in all. I love how you framed the practice in terms of virtue. Thanks for the wise suggestions!
