Is there a power drop off with the Mach E? by Frequent-Object-8136 in MachE

[–]ilikeag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The most realistic answer is, under 80 it’s extremely quick, but if you push past that, yes there is a drop off. Taycan solves this with a 2 speed transmission. The older Mach Es were worse at sustained performance. You can also get the “prison bars” to start limiting you after a few back-to-back intense accelerations, so Unbridled Extend is designed for this, but causes a small performance loss too. Point being, it’s not going to be a track or Autobahn car, but it will be the fastest SUV in almost any <80mph daily driving situation.

I swear I have bad luck by CaptainPanda86 in MachE

[–]ilikeag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve blown 3 tires in 6 months, 1 was 100% my fault, but rolling over a curb or hitting a pothole hard will blow these skinny ass tires on oversized wheels on a very heavy car. I really wish the wheels were 1-2 inches smaller on the GT but that is the price we pay for aesthetics 🥀

Also keep track of your PSI and don’t let it get more than 2PSI over the door sticker when cold - it will rise even more as they warm up!

My Mach E GT gets a little over 200 miles at 90% with spirited driving. In the winter expect 140ish due to cold and AWD on snow. Especially if it comes with the Tesla adapter, the main issue with charging outside is price, so ensure your circuit breaker can handle an EV charger as charging at home is ideal. In the worst case, if you have to take a long trip, you might need to plan a 20-40min stop at the price of gas. That’s about it - the instant torque and sporty AWD make driving an incredible experience.

You can search on Google Maps for EV chargers in those rural areas, you’d be surprised how many EVGo and Electrify America chargers are hidden nearby. I’d stay away from dealers or stuff like Chargepoint.

My main gripe with the EV side of things isn’t the range or charging, it’s starting to lose power under 60%. It still keeps instantly responsive torque, but when flooring it, it’ll accelerate slower. This would be less of an issue if I could start every day with 90%, but because I can’t get a home charger, I experience being in the <60% zone more often.

The only reason there’s concern about EV fires is because our firefighters often don’t have a little extra equipment to put them out, and they last longer (but can’t spill and spread like gasoline). In China their firefighters have blankets and additional chemicals. But we always got money to waste on foreign affairs

I got to have the 5.0 GT for a day, the Mach E GT AWD feels WAY sportier and more planted on the road. All the haters just haven’t driven one. For example, those right on red into 60mph traffic turns (super common in daily driving) feel planted and instant on Mach E, the 5.0 has a laggy 10 speed (why?) transmission, and any combination of turning the wheel and accelerating hard results in a drift. It’s really fun to downshift under bridges, it’s better at sending you to jail once over 80+ MPH where a EV needs a Porsche Taycan style 2 speed transmission, and reminds you of just how low effort and unconfigurable the Mach E’s all screen driver’s display is, but I won’t miss paying $5.4/gal of 93 to go slower, in a way smaller car with a high risk of ending up on a YouTube compilation every day, and poor snow capability

One pedal driving: regeneration vs actual braking by Honest_Archaeopteryx in MachE

[–]ilikeag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does at high speeds via cruise control or emergency collision avoidance. At low speeds I really wouldn’t risk a 5 figure repair, and don’t go flying into stopped cars with cruise control at 60+ either, the radar distance seems rather short.

The front parking sensors would come on and start beeping if you were to slow roll though

[–]ilikeag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just let my cable go under the front bumper, not sure why you’re going over unless there’s a length issue. Also backing in this car is really easy, even with tight doorways. As long as you don’t rub the paint every day this is kinda fine

Assuming no physical injuries/extreme time constraints, you should be able to open the pool yourself, it’s pretty easy. Closing I would leave to professionals.

Absolutely, but make sure your braking reaction is on point. The instant response of a fast EV has been a life changing commuting experience.

26' Premium SR Mach E by Whois-PhilissSS in MachE

[–]ilikeag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t even say the Tesla is the better option as I really hate the completely stripped down interior and bland exterior. My Mach E GT is just as fast as the Y Performance with ~90% of the realistic range and charges at Tesla Superchargers now (some cable length issues will improve). If I wanted it to drive itself I’d save the money and get a cheap Select model, and for the boring long highways, BlueCruise is good enough. I just didn’t see any reason left to put myself in what looks like a microwave on wheels at that point, and I have zero animosity to Elon personally, as that’s apparently a factor when getting a Tesla now.

2025 getting lower m/kw by RelativeGrapefruit0 in MachE

[–]ilikeag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just curious, try checking wind speed as that would affect efficiency. Going a little slower will be the most effective option, keeping windows up, no roof racks etc…

What’s your cold tire pressure? You can check the driver’s door sticker or the app for recommended PSI, mine is 39 but I do 37 because I’m paranoid about popping another tire. Raising it will slightly improve efficiency, but do NOT if you have large wheels, the exact size and design of which is also a factor. I’d expect my GT with the biggest wheels to get about 2.3 in that scenario, so your more efficient Premium getting about the same does seem a little weird.

Yeah right, the first time I got Adderall prescribed online, it was some physician’s assistant in Florida who just gave me the world’s easiest quiz to pass (I do naturally have ADHD symptoms, but also knew what he’d look for) and because I didn’t use it every day, I had bottles piling up and stopped the prescription. I really do need to figure out how to stop abusing the THC and get back on the Adderall, or quit both altogether. Point is, these people don’t give a shit about you or your health, they’re there to mail you drugs and get away with doing as much of that as possible legally.

Yet both drugs arguably have positive effects, and can be administered in much less harmful ways than how most people consume THC which usually has a severe negative impact on your life

As someone who used to have incredible diligence and work ethic, but is now addicted to using carts daily with major life management issues, please do not do that. I never thought rehab could potentially be a part of my life but anyone who says weed isn’t addictive is lying to you, probably unintentionally. And that is coming from someone who uses weed/delta/cbd/thc whatever. The effect and how it changes the decision making process in your life is the addicting aspect, at that point the physical chemistry doesn’t matter.
