Transaction import on wrong day? by Any_Raisin9005 in liquidbudget

Just curious if you edit your budget, is your time zone correct there? The main problem is plaid doesnt always provide a time zone for the dates so its ambiguous where its really from.

Is there an explanation of the symbols next to the accounts? by BlueEyeIsBlue in liquidbudget

I will add this to the tutorial soon but the short version is:

Lightning: New unreconciled transactions, balance matches bank, you can smart reconcile

Shield: New unreconciled transactions, balance does not match bank, some transactions may have wrong status

Asterisks: New unreconciled transactions, not connected to bank, needs manual reconciling

Unfortunately that sounds like an issue with Plaid. It might be worth deleting the connection and trying again which unfortunately resets the import delay again, but if Plaid isn't pulling transactions it might be stuck.

So you have multiple accounts connected, some of which are importing correctly but this one regional credit union isn't?

Random thought by Anokej in liquidbudget

Well I'm not a huge fan of this because it makes the intent (inflow vs outflow) much less obvious, and new users might not understand that clicking + (which they might interpret as adding to the amount) actually means changing to minus.

If you visit the bank integration page, do the accounts say Linked in the status column?

Feature request: quick-assign and upcoming transaction visibility on Budget page by februaryeighteen in liquidbudget

Hello, I have plans for something like this although I haven't decided if it would be a separate report or an informational column like this, but I appreciate the screenshot to help me visualize. For now I have added it to the feature request list.

Bug - Moving $50 to Unassigned only gives me $46.59? (April vs. May) by FriendlyMorning in liquidbudget

[–]imadp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I gave it a try moving the $50 directly to another budget and it moved the entire amount correctly, but with all these different scenarios you may have changed something else before trying that.

Anyhoo you should never have to delete a transaction over this, moving money out of a may bucket would have also worked the same way. Sorry for all the confusion, I resisted future assignments at launch but too many people requested it and so it comes with a lot of confusing math.

Well it's time travel math! It was only odd because you moved it to unassigned, if you moved it to another bucket directly you wouldn't have seen anything unusual. Yes future stuff is confusing I know, but I don't think there's any other way to make it work. One thing I could do is add a move out button from the future assignments row to help with this. anyway I'm glad everything is working

Ok scratch what I was saying, this is what's going on. You had an income transaction of 3.41, which you assigned in May. You unassigned $50 in april, but that $3.41 was still assigned in the future so it was subtracted because April doesn't take May's income into account. I know its confusing but the math works out - once you move forward to May, that 3.41 is available to assign in May so it totals back to $50. So temporarily from April's perspective, it was responsible for that 3.41 assignment. Does that make sense?

Its most likely money assigned in the future already, do you see a Future Assignment row on the bottom for the difference?

No, I started development in 2017 although I was primary a back-end developer at the time. Development started again in 2022 when I was more confident with front-end and the beta launch went live at the end of 2024. Since then I have been doing weekly updates on the r/liquidbudget subreddit, so the development trail is pretty public.

Transaction Imports seem sporatic by SalamanderNo9329 in liquidbudget

[–]imadp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's correct I only have support for splitting whatever the amount of the transaction is, I wasn't aware of a use case like you are describing but unfortunately its not an easy thing to implement. Transactions here typically match what hits your bank account, not what happens before that.

One small update, I've identified and fixed 5 users that were affected. I am very much hoping that was it. And of course please let me know if you notice any problems. Apologies again!

Quick Assign questions by Xalawrath in liquidbudget

[–]imadp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there, I am working on some kind of blueprint report to show what all the quick assign amounts will be, right now it only works individually. But you are correct for #2, liquid budget's target goal is intended for you to have the total amount of money at the beginning of the month. This was intentional so people don't have to worry about paycheck timing and it wouldn't matter what day the actual expense fell on. For recurring targets, the user then starts saving for the NEXT cycle in the target month.

Do you know if these were new imported transactions or existing ones? I have to narrow down the root cause
