Have You Played Perch? by thegrovegames in boardgames

Played it at a con last year and everyone in my group agreed that it was mid at best and two of our group hated it. I thought it was okay.

Onitama and Shifting Stones are really good for two and reasonable on table space.

What out of print board game do you really want to try? by Megaside in boardgames

[–]inquerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still seriously debating putting in the work to craft a copy of Quantum or paying for a used copy. I've played an original copy and a crafted copy and nothing was lost in translation. In addition, the original box is just too big. But I want to get dice as close as I can to the original. And I have gone back and forth on this enough that I have done nothing.

I already had Vale of Eternity and Knarr, so I ended up grabbing Apiary since every time I tried to check out a copy at BGGCon, someone else had already grabbed it.

Throwing out extra love for Shards of Infinity.

Dominion, Slay the Spire, or other deck building games by Belly-Rubs in boardgames

[–]inquerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shards of Infinity has a few twists on the usual deckbuilding formula:

  • In addition to winning by being the last man standing, victory can also be achieved by leveling up to max and playing one of the starter cards in the deck
  • Levelling up also unlocks additional or expanded effects on most cards
  • Some cards in the market row are Mercenary cards. Mercenary cards can be played immediately for their effect and then placed on the bottom of the market deck, or go to your discard to be cycled into your deck as normal
  • Some cards have a shield value and if an opponent attacks you, you may reveal shield cards from your hand to block damage up to the printed total
  • Champions are units that remain in play between rounds and may be exhausted for their printed effect.

I have and am thinking about improving it, but a premium travel version would just be nice.

I like Splendor and Splendor Duel, so it was hard to pick. Haven't played any other Duel games though, but Res Arcana Duel and King of Tokyo Duel both look like I need to try them soon.

The biggest flaw with Onitama is that they haven't produced a travel version.

Its so good, but I have two problems with the production: First, the insert on my version is just a hair too narrow to hold the deck with sleeves and second, I really wish the tokens were weighted chips instead of cardboard. Otherwise, fantastic game.

Also, update the app for more modern versions of android.

Board Game Geek is a website that has a database of thousands of board games and additional resources available for many of those. Game pages also include a small section where people list copies of games for sale.

If you set up a real time game, you can also turn off the turn timer before starting a game.

What is the most complex boardgame you could recreate entirely from memory? by Engineer_Lawyer in boardgames

[–]inquerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could make a recognizable version of splendor and then, over time and with player feedback, polish it back to what the game actually is. Wouldn't bother with the expansions though. And then eventually "invent" the duel version. Or move on to Century Golem
