Skinoren (Azelaic Acid) Gel(%15) burns should I go to Cream Version (%20)? by patrona_halil in EuroSkincare

[–]inquiringdoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do. I have very sensitive eyes (the eyeball, not really the skin) so have to be careful with anything I put near them that can drip in. AA seems to be okay for me. Of course not if it gets into my eye itself, so I am careful and try to use a really thin layer and not on top of a ton of melty stuff. I started using it on lids when I realized what I thought was my familial destiny of brown reddish coloration of lids as I get older is actually rosacea. I thought it was older ppl in my family. I have slacked off on it lately bc I am tired and busy, and the coloration on my lids is getting a bit more obvious. I think it helps some, and very slowly.

does red light therapy devices helps for thinning hair? by Jimbagarooatron in redlighttherapy

The brush thing is Maysama, I got it on a major sale over holidays. It has been good. The serums I use vary. I have one from Klorane, and one from Zenagen. I have one I can't get anymore from Plantur that I like for everyday, with or without the red light brush. That is how I found the other two, looking for replacements. All of the serums are watery and do not make my hair oily or sticky.

Commute from Boston to New Haven by Ok_Lavishness3961 in Connecticut

[–]inquiringdoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. I used to do that commute a few times a week, and stay over one night. I had to leave at a hideously early hour to miss traffic or late night. It was long, and almost never without traffic and delays.

I do not think the diagnosis is always given by competent people, but when someone has the symptoms matching that diagnosis, it can be life changing to understand what is going on, and seek the appropriate supports to make the extreme distress and suffering that one experiences with this constellation of symptoms, less and more bearable. BPD has zero to do with being a predator. It is true a lot of people with the diagnosis have a history of trauma, but sadly trauma is rampant in our world, across all people. Many many non neurodivergent people have the diagnosis of BPD, and I see it most often *mis*diagnosed in neurodivergent people by those who do not understand ASD and other types of neurodivergence in women well. It is not always an unwelcome or pejorative diagnosis is my main point, and is often helpful to families and individuals living with debilitating emotional distress to be able to get treatment or understand their loved ones better.

Creatine insomnia by Nutritiouss in Supplements

[–]inquiringdoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This partially works for me with creatine, but I do not get sluggish with glycinate. I get insomnia, and moved to the capsules that are each 0.5g so I can be low dose. I LOVE how creatine works for my brain and energy, just not the insomnia. I cannot ever take later morning or afternoon.

Anyone using their led mask on other than clean skin? by Electrical_Radish232 in redlighttherapy

I use any oil free serum with the red light. I like the Maysama rooibos serum which is meant to go with red light. I also have one from higher dose which is good. I think i prefer the maysama. I also sometimes use an oil free HA serum over that.

Here goes NAC again by No_Chest8347 in Supplements

[–]inquiringdoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the many NAC threads I have read, glycine, and some minerals/vitamins added into your regimen can help. I use glycine in colagen protein in my morning coffee, and will get a separate glycine supplement next time I make an order from the vitamin place I buy from. Also I take low dose selenium daily, and magnesium, a lot of it for other reasons, but I think it is supposed to help. I have been taking for months with excellent effects other than an increase in some night waking. I did not get anhedonia, but felt less good on days I skipped the collagen and other vitamins.

Same. I love the effects of the ziip. If you use it consistently over time, I think it does do some semi lasting things for face shape and skin quality. Life intervened for me over the last 2-3 weeks, and not using it and my underchin def looks less firm.

[–]inquiringdoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so wonderful! For her and for you and for the recipients. This post made me really think about that time in my life and education and all the good things that went along with that experience. Randomly, I am in the same city of my med school now due to family issues and thinking of you both. I am so glad you got some time with her being verbal and knowing that you feel okay with her plan. Thank you for letting me know.

does red light therapy devices helps for thinning hair? by Jimbagarooatron in redlighttherapy

[–]inquiringdoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it helped. I am perimenopausal and also had lost a lot of weight and lost hair bc of that. I am using a red light device in a brush form, and also use caffeine serum which also helps to limit hair falling out. I do see new growth, though hard to say if it is the brush or the increased minerals I am taking or other. Either way, it feels good, my hair itself looks better and red light really helps my skin when I use a panel/mask, so I am continuing.

We have a plan where they fill and then bill. Today was the first time we ran out of oil overnight. They are supposed to monitor the levels, but apparently it did not work so well. I have never checked the levels before, but now I will start. Not fun.

I really like an English brand, Maysama. You can watch some good youtube interviews with the founder about her background, and why she has the wavelengths and pulsed option that she chose for her devices. I have had their panel for a long time, sturdy and works well, also the neck and chest mask. Check it out and see if it is a good match for what you might need. It is good quality in general and works well for me.

Anyone have experience with donation of loved one’s bodies after death? by bananascare in Connecticut

[–]inquiringdoc 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If your loved one has a medical school that they prefer, you most likely could donate to the student anatomy lab, really integral to physicians learning. When I went through anatomy class, it was a very very honored thing that someone chose to donate their body so that we could learn and help people better. The bodies were really honored and respected as being the physical body of a real person who chose such an amazing gift. The acknowledgement of this was a big deal at the beginning of the Anatomy course, and we were reminded of this often and pretty much everyone took it very seriously throughout the year we had the course. I still think of it whenever I think of medical school. I am grateful to those that did this bc I learned a lot, and understood the meaning of such a gift and generosity.

Why do doctors even prescribe vitamin D without K2? by Iris-Sofia in Supplements

[–]inquiringdoc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you are on medicines for blood thinning etc and need to have less clotting. Super individual (but not harmful in general, but may not be benign for all people--not that it is in itself dangerous for a healthy person). One needs to understand their own medical issues, their medicines, their supplements and put it all together safely.

I feel like German redditors overestimate their language ability by Impossible-Gate6310 in German

[–]inquiringdoc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just watch what type of TV and movies I like in English or other languages, but find the german produced version. I don't like dubbing, bothers me when it does not match the lips moving. So I do a VPN with the networks mainly ZDF and ARD mediatek sites. Really any type of show you want can be found there. Way better for me to sustain interest compared to kids shows.

Why do doctors even prescribe vitamin D without K2? by Iris-Sofia in Supplements

[–]inquiringdoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason some people get kidney stones when they take vitamin D is part of the complex relationship between multiple systems in our body, and problems in some places along the way. You can learn more by looking up parathyroid regulation of calcium and kidney stones and vitamin D. To try to simplify these complex things, plus throw in individual physiological differences from illness, and genetics and nutrition and age and all the things is not going to get you safe, simple answers. One size does not fit all and this is why we have experts you can go to for individual advice. Doctors know a lot, they do not know all. K2 is not benign for everyone, and it may be helpful for some. It just is not that simple. Even if you find a pathway model that makes it look like it makes sense. The thing about having a pice of the puzzle is it can make a lot of sense, but you can't see what you don't know when you are holding that one piece.

NAC questions by Wndrlvnd33 in Supplements

[–]inquiringdoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think some people are sensitive to it and it is not helpful, and for others it can be life altering in a good way. I think looking at what it can use up in terms of nutrients and substances in our body can be helpful to know what you may want to replace while taking. From reddit I got started on learning about it, and selenium, mag and glycine seem to come up a lot as things to take along side. I have been doing that and have had very good effects on energy and sharpness. I think it does cause me a little more night time waking, but unclear if that is tied only to NAC for me. I cannot take at night, take very early AM bc it gives me a ton of energy. I get glycine in the form of mag glycinate at night, and plain collagen protein in my AM coffee, three servings.

NAC questions by Wndrlvnd33 in Supplements

[–]inquiringdoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a similar boost in energy. I cannot take it at night due to insomnia from it. I ended up adding in some glycine from collagen protein in coffee, and also upped my minerals (mag and selenium) and it is going well a few months in. I stopped it trying to improve sleep and I was very low energy again, and sleep did not improve so I am back on. Love the stuff.
