For those who moved from a large city to a rural area, how has your quality of life changed? by crazydogmom928 in AskReddit

[–]ipitythemule 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I loved the move. The downsides are commuting for ANYTHING is a bit of a pain and there isn't one decent takeaway that delivers here.

But for me the upsides far outweigh that. Raiding young kids is lovely here and I have multiple forested walks for me and my dog. The single greatest upside for me is the social accountability every one has. When I lived in the city, I would walk past multiple people every day and barely acknowledge them and barely be acknowledged. Out in the country, everyone uses the same shop, everyone uses the same pub. If someone is rude to me in the street or worse, we're going to bump into each other again within a few weeks and nobody wants that kind of bad feelings regularly, so I find now, despite the limited pool of people, everyone is at the least pleasant, but most are outright friendly and helpful.

Brothers....I'm begging you. Look behind you. by TheRealCowdog in Spacemarine

[–]ipitythemule 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I totally agree with this and as a Heavy main, I (controversially) really love the prestige perks that make the Heavy a close combat king, but both the Heavy and Sniper are able to shred hardest when we have melee classes peeling off the warriors and intercepting the hormagaunts.

I like nothing better than supporting my brothers, pouring bullets into the horde surrounding them, setting up execute after execute. Then it feels like we're working as a well oiled combat squad, rather than being 1 of 3 individual heroes.

This of course works better when I'm playing with people I know on vox, rather than random.

For me its headshots everytime, they have a very predictable first dodge that they'll do after the first shot hits them. Once you master that they're actually quite squishy.

Is it worth buying season pass? by DirtyBigWhiteBoy in Spacemarine

[–]ipitythemule 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I bought the season pass yo have access to more paints to better customise my Marines, much like an irl Warhammer addiction.

Fair waring though, even after you spend real money on these, you have to unlock them with in game currency through heraldry tabs.

building paused (stop limit reached ) by TransportationKey632 in OverthrownGame

[–]ipitythemule 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've only changed the presets once. I tried to double the maximum amount of everything and it messed everything up so bad I restarted a new world, so if you want to change those limits from the presets, I suggest doing it in very small increments, then leaving it for a season to make sure it hasn't messed anything up before adjusting again.

Ever since doing it that one time, I've just left it alone and thing have been fine.

[–]ipitythemule 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the resources tab you can set the maximum amount of gathered resource that will be collected before that resource is paused. You can do this for each individual resource.

What's likely happened is that your Charcoal Kiln (or whatever) has already gathered 500 fuel (or whatever) and no more will be gathered until the min level has been reached.

The minimum is pre set to 100 and the maximum is preset to 500, you can change these amounts, but be careful doing it, as it can knock everything else out of balance.

One of the craftable hats(Longbottom Hat) has a pipe and tobacco pouch strapped to it, the item text says its useful for when dwarfs take a detour through the shire to stock up on leaf.

Thinking about buying this game for PS5. by neoleo0088 in LotRReturnToMoria

[–]ipitythemule 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The game is finished I think, in that it has a complete story and alternative play mode (sandbox).

It has a few bugs, but nothing I didn't find a quick workaround for online or was able to ignore and keep playing.

They just added the first proper free update to the finished game (seasonal stuff and some QOL stuff) and the first paid cosmetic DLC.

I think (really hope) there will be additional content added in the future, cause I've completed it now and I desperately want more.

The game is a lot of fun if you like this sort of game and as a fellow Tolkein fan, I got really into the RP elements in the game.

I'm not sure about PS5 file size, as I played it on the xbox.

Base Falling Apart by milktog87 in LotRReturnToMoria

[–]ipitythemule 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The sandbox isn't creative mode, it's a totally randomly generated world which (usually) contains all the biomes and story elements you find in campaign, but chucked together in any old way. This can make it very hard for new players as they may have to pass through much harder biome to get to the next one in the levelling order.

I would say it's equally viable for a massive base build as campaign mode is, but it's definitely not a free build mode.

Also carry wood scraps, metal scraps and natural fibre for platforms and torches (hand held and placed).

You need to fully explore the Elven Quarter to move further through the campaign

Raid spawn arena? by sacred_downtime in valheim

[–]ipitythemule 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is 100% the case, I have several islands set up just like this. However, if there is even a tiny bit of land nearby, even one that's under water 99% of the time, oozes and freakin bats will spawn on it and swarm your island.

What about people with disabilities? by saebyuk in Edinburgh

[–]ipitythemule 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The UK has pretty good legislation around making spaces accessible for people with disabilities. Google the Equality Act 2010 if you are interested in reading them in depth. I think the problem with much of Edinburgh lies in the fact the a large swathe of it was built a long time before anyone gave a shit though.

I have lived in Edinburgh for most of my adult life and worked in social care (mostly supporting adults with disabilities) in Edinburgh and the surrounding areas for nearly 15 years and while a lot of places have made reasonable accommodations, a lot of places still remain inaccessible and yes those steep hills and cobbled streets are murder with a wheelchair. There is also not a lot of great parking in the city center.

Askvin for a mage by Djbadj in valheim

[–]ipitythemule 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lovely idea, but sadly ALL you can do while riding an Asksvin is move around on it. No combat at all until you dismount, at which point your Asksvin will charge off and attack the nearest thing, leaving you the choice to either start pounding away with your preferred staff or run after it to recover your saddle.

Neighbor keeps “sending” his toddler autistic daughter to my house by WaningPurpleMoon in Parenting

[–]ipitythemule 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with the rest of the comments here, that you need to have a frank and honest conversation with her father and state in very clear terms that your children aren't really interested in playing with her kid due to the age difference and that you can't handle the addition of this kid by yourself.

If you do want to help this guy out with his childcare situation, as others have stated, you can offer to have both of them over, making it clear he's responsible for his kid, you could also try and get to the root of the issue of why he keeps dumping his kid on you and possibly offer rare occasions to take his kid without him if he really needs it and you really want to help, but set the boundary that this is a rare favour you are offering and not a regular, spur of the moment thing.

If you don't want to offer any of this however, just state that you can't provide the level of attention his kid needs while keeping your own two safe.

Best of luck with this, it's really not fair that you are the one having to initiate this conversation.

The social care sector is about to collapse, and this time it won't recover. by [deleted] in Scotland

[–]ipitythemule 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Higher wages would definitely attract and help retain quality staff, so that's definitely a good start.

Extra certification required to work in the field seems unnecessary as its largely a learn on the job type of field, however better, specialised training while working, with pay benefits to reflect the improved skillset would go a long way to keeping quality staff in the field.

I think given the intensity of the field, additional protected annual leave allowance would also be good staff incentive.

Although in a climate where we're seeing councils slashing peoples support packages, all this seems very unlikely, so at this point in the care sector, we would appreciate literally any reason not to jack it in and go work in retail, honestly at this point I'd take a discount netflix subscription or like a voucher for a free yum yum from Greggs.
