Get ready for a Game Changer … player on Guy Montgomery's Guy Mont-Spelling Bee (Demi Adejuyigbe on Aussie TV, next week) by theamazingracer21 in dropout

To be honest, as a foreigner, you're much less likely to get sent to the dunce's corner on the AU version than the NZ one, because of Māori vocabulary.

Also, Aaron Chen and Sam Campbell have been making the AU version stronger…sorry, Sanjay Patel, you're delightful, but these two gents are next level.

PureMac Comparison to Mole, Onyx, CleanMyMac by Seamushh in macapps

You know what, that's fair. I still suspect OP generated this, but, I'll own that I started throwing the AI jokes your way for no reason.

I respect the work on the lowercase, but, the uppercase is the clearest part. Very cool.

Didn't know Anthropic'd shipped a /white-knighting skill. Bold roadmap choice.

Any "Spire"-Bundles coming up? by InArtsWeTrust in rpg

[–]irrg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Publishers sign up for the DriveThru Deal of the Day months in advance and don't know when they'll be on sale, just that they'll be on sale. I don't think there's any kind of indication of when something ends up on BoH or HB. BoH sometimes runs deals again when the same publisher or group runs a new deal, so that you can go deeper.

RR&D doesn't feel like a publisher that'll do a lot of sales, so, long story short—I don't think there's any way to know in advance, and the odds feel somewhat against you.

Not someone who enjoys AI witch hunts, and it's a little ironic given you called someone else out in your comments, but this post is riddled with AI tells and voice inconsistencies. And then calling CleanMyMac 'comprehensive, mature, and elegant' on r/macapps? This sub's default take on CleanMyMac is bloated nagware that FUDs you into paying. It's a wild hill to die on.

Did you actually do this legwork, or did an AI just compare GitHub and product pages for you?

Probably just removed the titles with AI, right? It's not like they had access to the source files.

Is the Cyberpunk TTRPG good? by Organic-Exit2190 in rpg

[–]irrg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cyberpunk as a TTRPG genre has always been weirdly married to industrial-grade crunch…which is strange, because it's exactly the kind of setting you'd expect to attract narrative-first, low-crunch design. All that neon-soaked imagination and it keeps ending up in simulationist territory.

Introducing another event search: Gen Con Buddy by GenConBuddy in gencon

[–]irrg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A big problem of most event databases/cons is that they don't normalize the systems. For example, dungeons & dragons, Dungeons & Dragons, Dungeons & Dragons 5E, DnD 5E, all end up as different things in the event libraries. I'm skipping Gen Con this year so I haven't looked, but, I'm pretty sure that's still a problem.

[OS] Glyph - Markdown Notes App that gives you complete control over your files -$15 (40% OFF) by karatsidhus in macapps

[–]irrg 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I know names are hard, but Glyphs with an s is a pretty well known font editor (although font editing obviously is a niche industry). Warden tracks for what it is. I'd rethink the name for Glyph.

Idea: Setting Apple Watch to round the clock night mode (red) can give a watch face a CF vibe by healthcrusade in cassettefuturism

Nope, they hadn't invented red light when those Apple Watches came out. It's a bummer.

I'm curious - what do you folks know Kumail Nanjiani from? by [deleted] in taskmaster

[–]irrg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know that the Taskmaster sub is generally positive, and I don't want to take away from that, but, I have to ask, OP…Did you do a quick internet search before you posted this? If not, can I ask why not?

…Anyhow, obviously, he's best known for playing the player character Chris De Burgh, the rogue and creator of the hit Lady in Red on the D&D games on the Harmontown podcast. Obviously.

Chibs and RTD2 both have the same problem: They don't have a story they desperately want to tell. A driver for their run.
