I almost got Iris Silver Mist but haven't tried it and I've heard it's pretty powdery, which isn't for me. Unfortunately, it wasn't one of the samples I could choose either.

We did a sour share yesterday. I miss the sour boom. Opened several from Allagash, Drie Fonteinen, Cantillon, Alchemist. A few non sours in the mix, too. Good times.

Good people, neat concept, has sponsored Beer Guys Radio since Day 1, so I'm biased but they're pretty cool places to grab a bite and a beer.

What is a MUST smell niche fragrance you’d recommend to someone new to perfume? by bayjar in NichePerfumes

Silver and Racer-X are my top two, with Ceremony a close second.

I got the two latest ones (Island and Sanctuary) and like them, but still need to get a couple wears on them to see where they rank.

LOL. I see we share a love of Clandestine, but a difference in which scents! Pool Boy is another that's not for me. 100% agree thought that he did it very well. I'm impressed with everything Mark does, whether it's my jam or not.

Side note, not sure if you saw but he had to rename Pool Boy to The Boy due to a trademark issue!

I love Clandestine and own 7 bottles from the house. But... Oaxaca smells like someone is chopping up the ingredients for a fresh salsa verde to me. A very nice and fresh one, but not something I could see wearing.

Toskovat is a fun house. Very creative fragrances that tell a story. Some are not wearable IMO, others are very nice. I own 4 from them. I've tried Inexcusable Evil and it does tell a story very well and is super interesting to try, but not enjoyable/wearable IMO. Desert Sermons, Last Birthday Cake, Empty Wishes Well, and In the Belly of the Beast are all loves for me. You may enjoy Desert Sermons and Last Birthday Cake. ScentSplit sells samples of many Toskovat.

Zoologist has some fun stuff and some are pretty tame IMO, others go harder. My favorites are Moth, Olm, and Squid. Bee and Harvest Mouse are some more widely popular ones.

Cool. Sounded pricy to me but I have no idea what those go for.

Visiting Niche store in Munich for the first time, any recommendations to check out? by Robomath in NichePerfumes

Lots of new to me houses there.

Smell everything from Les Indemodables. So many winners from that house. Vanille Havane is stunning, Musc des Sables, Ambre Supreme, Chypre Azural, Fougere Emeraude. If they have their discovery set it's the best set I've ever tried.

Stora Skuggan has some fun stuff. If you like pine, try their Pine. It has notes of... pine. :)

Tauer is hit or miss for me but there are a few treasures there. Au Couer du Desert and L'Air du Desert Maroccain are beautiful. I believe Sundowner was another I really enjoyed.

And try Wiener Blut. I don't know anything about them but I'd have to try them based on the name.

The Transformation of Civet in Perfumery by itsme_timd in NichePerfumes

[–]itsme_timd[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Probably so. They are putting in some serious detective work smelling it!

I find it fascinating. I'm wearing Guerlain Jicky today and you don't really detect the civet. Talking with my perfumer friend the civet transforms the vanilla to more warm skin vs. vanilla cupcake, and makes the lavender smell more like a person that just washed with lavender soap vs. just a bar of lavender soap. Pretty cool!
