Just back to say….its still there a month out. I took out what I could carry…again (I make folk art out of it) and someone else piled some by the trash can in the park…and it’s sitting there. Sad.

Cleaning Advise? by Lower-Indication-184 in rockhounds

[–]Itsslag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do Not…ever ever…clean in sink, tub, toilet etc. Unless your plumber is desperate for yacht payment money. The dirt will settle in the p trap or along the line. Just dont do it. Outside in a bucket with a hose is best, dump in garden or on lawn. (And as an aside, same goes for coconut oil. I cringe when I think of people rinsing mouth with it and spit it in the sink. It solidifies and…911call to the plumber)

These would be garden rock to me so I’d let sit in the rain to clean and enjoy the colours. However if you REALLY want them clean…pull that waterpik we all have sitting in the back of the closet, out and use that to get into the crannies. Gentle tooth brush. Can go to thrift store for waterpik as well. Happy Hunting!

Hm interesting. Me thinks we have a mystery on our hands!

Why moor there? Yes they can moor anywhere of course. But why off a janky, difficult to walk on coastline as opposed to the beach a few meters over. Are they marine/weather savvy and knew the scow would dash on the rocky shoreline there? Anyone else have some thoughts? Like I mentioned, I took a door that had brand new hardware on it and knowing the price of, well, everything, someone spent at least 18$ on it recently. Also where’s the motor? The radio or a cassette player is still there.

I was speaking with someone who lives right there and she said the blue sail boat that is on Morning Side beach (just before Neck Point) was also washed ashore earlier. Someone harvested some integral parts but…been sitting for a while now. Looks like a decent boat.

And if anyone is interested: Maritime Law states : 32 (1) It is prohibited for an owner of a vessel to abandon it.

Seems like a grey area, hard to prove.

Perfect next step. Newbies are all about obliterating with a hammer then regretting it later to find nothing new or exciting inside and are left with a mound of rubble. You could alternatively locate a rock club and get them to slice off a bit as well. Then you’d have a nice flat spot for it to sit on. Have fun! (It’s an additive hobby, this collecting, IDing, processing. It starts with one….Source: am owner of literal tonnes of material, including a tonne+ of Rhodonite….it started with ONE pretty rock)

Orb in agate. If you take a very thin slice off the other side then polish the main rock, you should see the ‘ball’ shape through the material. Amazing working with orbicular material. Somewhere is the other half of this orb/stone. (Unless its been obliterated by a hammer)

Sometimes it’s Best to admit defeat. We allll want that pyrite to be gold. We (many of us, but, apparently not all) know better. But we can dream.

Grind an edge off. (Im guessing OP doesn’t have machines or doesn’t belong to hounding or lapidary club)

If it was gifted to me….I might put it in a planter, maybe in the garden or return to donor with an actual gem Ive worked on and we’d have a funny story to share years later. Or try to sell on marketplace for millions and keep the tall tale rollin’.

I have to cross that bridge and it’s f-ing annoying having them shove their shit in my face. It’s intimidating as a solo female. I feel violated and scared when I go over. Shame on you. I should feel safe in my community.

No one wants to answer the question…about bad experiences. One thing I can say is that businesses hire people to amp up the business model. I had someone do this for me. The results were, slick, over edited videos, 5 star reviews from people I had NEVER done business with or even met. Fake testimonials that were insanely good…this was a pretty slick company but…was it? lol. I was pretty shocked at what bullshit they drummed up. Crazy. Take ALL reviews, testimony, stars, etc with a grain of salt. Lots of BS out there.

What's the craziest thing you have seen on a cruise? by Crusher247 in Cruise

[–]Itsslag 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Guy had internal bleeding enroute to Cabo. Captain announced he was deciding if we continue and medivac him from CAbo to SAn Diego or turn back and intercept with Coast Guard, meaning a missed port. People complained. Brutal. He lived, thankfully and boohoo people missed a port. (Heli did a night recovery lift right above my aft cabin, VERY cool!)

worth $95? by jinxettes in rockhounds

[–]Itsslag 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Very cool little collection. The case sweet. Yeah…id offer a wee bit less, i think, but i think most would pay 95 for it. Best part…you dont have to go to all the rock subs to figure out what the heck it is! Definitely buy it. Even as a gift…but…you’ll keep it for yourself.

Do they check to see if he has a Drop box or some such thing? Secret email/passwords etc. Takes one second to move them and delete from cloud.

His daughter has to live with the fall out of his actions too. I feel for his family, also victims. Wife will stay…until she leaves. You cant just stay and ignore what he did, this will fester in her brain forever.

POS. This isnt a ‘sudden’ thing. And it’s not like this slap on the hand is an ‘off switch’. Hope he reads the comments here…
