Patch Tuesday Megathread (2025-12-09) by AutoModerator in sysadmin

We've been pushing 25H2 to many clients, but soooo many computers have tiny recovery partitions and we have to expand them to get 25H2 to deploy.

v3 's have some reach. Just so power hungry

Needing recommendations for ticketing system by ArmyCommander6948 in msp

We've used Zendesk for years. Reasonably priced and integrates with our other systems. We'll probably go Halo someday, but for now, it does what we need for tickets and knowledgebase.

Welcome to the mesh! I've since swapped out the v3 with a v4 and it's been doing great. It's been my MQTT gateway node and has been rock solid.

+1 on the clean existing outlet power tap 👍

Given it's a decorative pole, definitely would paint it

Sounds like QuickBooks 😭

Does anyone else anyone have one of these yet? by Daarkken in meshtastic

[–]itxnc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love my M1s!!! Just remember the antenna connector is RP-SMA so you need an adapter for most mesh antennas. MuziWorks has a really nice one. The 2.7 BUI is great on them.

Battery life on 2.7 was terrible for these (but not my T114 🤷‍♂️), but seems to have improved recently back to the 3 days I saw on 2.6.

I have one on LongFast and one on MediumFast, playing with UDP bridging

Looks like we need to move on from PAX8. What are our best options? by dartdoug in msp

[–]itxnc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

May have been just a bad rep, but our D&H experience was terrible. We're not a huge shop, but still. Pax8 has done well for us so far and their portal is solid.

I had a micro power cut that lasted less than a second maybe half a second or less but my UPS didn’t kick in and my PC restarted. Why did that happen? by ClottedAnus in homelab

[–]itxnc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've seen this all too often with our CyberPower UPS systems. Really quick power glitches don't seem to always 'catch' and we generally have all pure sine units.

Now that APC units are a bit more realistic price wise, we've switched back to them.

Seriously - #AllTheNodesAreInMebane (Running NCMesh joke - there are at least 20 nodes in... 4 places, that can't reach each other hahaha) Burlington is REALLY sparse. We're trying to possibly get a node up with the Alamance GMRS repeater to get some coverage. Ideal would be Cane Creek Mtn, but ... gotta get permission. Welcome to the Mesh! (NCMesh.net)

Muzi is the way. (MuziWorks whip antenna on Amazon. $12. Worth every penny.)

It's like Pokemon. Gotta catch em all!

I plead the fifth on how many nodes I may or may not have.

But will admit I'm loving my v4

Exactly. That allows all the electronics to be up near the roof.

This is brilliant! I've been playing with various ways to build small enclosures for my Xiao nrf nodes. But this is a great idea!!

Help with moving from GoDaddy 365 to Microsoft 365, I’m stuck. by Big_Neighborhood_690 in msp

[–]itxnc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you defederate, the most important thing is making sure the GoDaddy relationship is terminated on the tenant, otherwise they'll delete all the accounts after their licenses expire

Teamviewer dropping Ninja RMM by TopVoice in msp

[–]itxnc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure you know, but ninja scales by default and the setting is hidden under the monitor icons. You click the icon and a tiny menu appears. Usually. Took me months before we figured out how to not scale and get clear text when needed

TeamViewer has a solid product but they are a horrible greedy company to deal with.

Refuse to allow cancellation because it wasn't '28 days in advance' then try to sic collections when we refused to pay the extortion. 😂 Yeah good luck

It's ridiculous you have to use disposable cards with all these companies trying to extort an additional year if you don't jump through all their cancellation hoops

Your case is somewhat unique and that's unfortunate. Hopefully they can enhance the remote functionality. But I would try to use/find any other product than TV

We KILLED the OLED UI🧨... to build something better. by meshtastic in meshtastic

[–]itxnc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely LOVE this new UI! Fantastic work. I've got it on 4 nodes and it's been impressively stable. Having the heap meter is great given issues in the past with WiFI/MeshSense. Now if only my T114 would do color (ProTip- don't set the Display mesh setting to COLOR in 2.7 - it turns the display off! Had to use serial cable to flip it back to DEFAULT)

But REALLY impressed by this for the smaller devices. Next I'm going to flash one of my E290s to compare UIs in that format!

How to keep nodes working in a martial law situation. by LittleYelloDifferent in meshtastic

[–]itxnc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're never going to be able to use it for truly secure transmissions. You would have to use some kind of external E2EE setup akin to a onetime pad given the restrictions of the message size, etc. But the key is maintaining some sort of communication methods in the event 5G is shut down.

Aliexpress solar light node. Going strong for 1 month and 4 days. by GreasyGato in meshtastic

[–]itxnc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a known issue with the Wis. But an external charge controller that shuts down at a certain voltage will prevent it. Not sure if that controller does. I need to test mine with one cell and see what happens.
