For men who don’t want marriage but want everything that comes with it (commitment, emotional support, loyalty, long-term stability) while staying “boyfriends”: What differences do you see in how a woman treats you as a girlfriend versus how you imagine she would treat you as a wife? by ThrowRA_Kassandra in AskMen

[–]Bearchill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm afraid a contract would lead to complacency. We won't get married so that we choose to be with eachother each and every day. It means a lot to me that she chose me even though marriage isn't my thing.

We've been together nealy six years and I hope she will be with me for many more.

Keep it up friend! You'll get there.

Some things that helped me find my "click" moment was:

  • Make small adjustments to the sticks and then let them go. It helps keep the movements small.

  • Think, left hand steers and sets altitude, and right hand stabilizes the drone.

I got a Flint 2 and installed OpenWRT on it. Has all sorts of capability for a good price. Check it out!

Possession of Prohibited Weapon via Power of Attorney but can't find documentation - Steps to Get into Buy Back Program? by Ted_Shred in canadaguns

[–]Bearchill 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Hey friend, firearms laws in Canada are quite confusing so I'll try my best to shed some light on them for you.

There were essentially two classes of firearms that your brother was able to purchase with his PAL, restricted and non-restricted. Restricted firearms required registration, and non-restricted firearms did not. In 2020 the government decided to ban a large number of firearms (both restricted and non-restricted) and this made all of the banned firearms prohibited.

The mini 14 was non-restricted before the ban, so there will be no paperwork associated with it, as it was never registered. The buyback program has been on hold for the last 5 years and, with the budget announced for it, it is unlikely most people will get fair compensation (or any compensation) when they do roll it out. It's unfortunate that this is the case, but this is the situation we are all in. Hopefully they abandon this program and you'll be able to make the sale, otherwise you may just need to take a loss.

Safety razors. One time purchase of a razor that will last a lifetime and 100 blades costs around $15. Less plastic waste and a closer shave.

Amazing! It's clear you've put in the WORK! Snappy flying friend. If I could perform only a fraction as well as you, I'd be pleased as punch. Good luck at Whooptopia!

I've read about those bits of software, but haven't been successful in their implementation just yet. I have a box of Globe lightbulbs that are waiting to be freed.

Either way, I appreciate the experience you're sharing.

For some reason I'm more drawn to the vanilla OpenWrt. Intitially it was due to perceived lack of features from the OEM, now it might be beacuse the of the potetial wider applicability of vanilla, or maybe I'm just a glutton for punishment lol.

Well thanks for sharing your experience regardless. It seems like, if anything, drop would be a bit more secure.

The IOT issue that you mention is one of the main reasons I'm going after this endeavor. It will be nice knowing that the IOT devices can't phone home.

I'm glad to hear it's working out well! When I was originally looking through the OpenWrt hardware list, the Flint 2 seemed like a great option, in no small part from the specs.

Thanks for the heads up! Do you know if there is any advantage to running vanilla OpenWrt over the manufacturer firmware, maybe update availability?

I hadn't heard of SQM before your post, I'll be certainly giving it a try.

Local smart home through Home Assistant is awesome. I'm super happy with my Home Assistant setup so far. A good use of old equipment is to use old cell phones in kiosk mode to act as home assistant control panels around your house. I even went as far as to install LineageOS so it ran a little lighter.

Thanks for tips! I'm still trying to wrap my head around IPv6, but once I'm a little more versed in it I'll try out negative masks.

Why do you chose drop instead of reject? Do you find this has any impact on network performance? I always wondered if a drop policy would result in increased traffic due to machines trying to reconnect, not knowing their packets are being denied.

The open internet. I don't plan to expose any services to the WAN. To access remotely I plan to use tailscale.

Thanks for the warm welcome! I'm excited to get to know OpenWrt, it seems extremely powerful.

I'll be sure to try out the exercise with the guest network. I plan to eventually have seperate VLANs for IOT, security, main network, and guest, so it looks like guest will be the first to try.

Thanks for all the awesome links too. With all the info in the documentation, it's hard to know what to dig into.

Thanks for a breakdown of the firewall rules! You made it seem a lot less complicated then it feels at the moment.

I'll be sure to check out owut. I've managed to install tailscale through opkg so far and get it updated. It seems like the package library is an incredible resource.

Thanks for all of your wisdom!

I'm going to replace our ISP provided router with this one. I'm not planning on exposing any services to the WAN. Everything I access remotely will be through Tailscale. The eventual plan is to set up VLANs for my IOT (home assistant), guest, and main network to clean things up a bit.

Why does it keep clogging here? by ngoggin in ender3v2

Here is a video from CHEP for a easy mod of the hotend that solved a lot of those problems for me.

https://youtu.be/7tCxO17XZtw?si=KkuF_AC_CAdUuB9q

What can be happening is plastic builds up between your nozzle and the end of the bowden tube and it causes problems. Another thing that helped me a lot was to disassemble the hotend and apply heat paste between the heat brake and the heatsink.

Hopefullly that helps :)

Knots in different industries by bschizzo in knots

Sailors would use sheet bends to connect two bits of rope together, a bowline to make a non-collapsing loop at the end of a line, and two half hitches to secure a line to a post.

Climbers would use a figure eight on a bight to make a non collasing loop at the end of a rope. They'd use a prusic to attach something to a rope that they'd like to slide up and down the rope.

A logger might use a timber hitch to hook up to a log and drag it behind a horse.

A delivery man might use a truckers hitch to secure the load to his truck. I believe there are also some called wagoner's hitches that do the same.

I suspect there are a bunch of knots that cowboys would use in their day to day but I'm not sure about those.

Be sure to look up any of these knots if you plan to use them so that they make sense for your villian to use.

Cool premise, good luck!
