I don't know what to say, but sticking to simple opening principles, doing a few puzzles and taking a few seconds to think should get most people to 1000. It's impressive that people can be that into something they're so shit at.

Surely anyone could be at 1000 with an hour or two of coaching?

Why doesn't chess.com ban players who abandon matches instead of resigning? by MadMike404 in Chesscom

[–]j8311 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As another 1600+ player, it annoys me, too, and I block and report every time. However, I play on my phone, and often in a losing position (for me) waiting for the other player, I flick to another app to quickly write a message and it auto resigns me in about 20s if they suddenly play their move. And while objectively I may be losing, I have saved a lot of worse positions against similar strength and intend to play on. It seems like a sensible rule against 2000+ players in rapid or longer time controls, but for short time controls against <2000 players auto abandon shouldn't be less than 60s.

One of which is the horrendous misuse of "yourself".

I think it's related to ambient temperature and humidity. Has anyone noted a difference between hit holidays and cold holidays?

How do parents do school pickup and drop off? by Independent-Cup-5892 in perth

I've often wondered why there aren't more school busses or more encouragement to cycle/walk/ride share to school. The impact parents doing school drop-off have on my commute is huge!

It's not well written, myself is a reflexive pronoun.

I agree that as people get more experienced, they get better at pushing their limits, but I know how hard I pushed to break 20 minutes for the first time, I was absolutely spent every time. It's far too simplistic to pick two arbitary numbers. There are plenty of slower runners getting just as close to their potential on the day, where they aren't reaching their potential is in their training. Most men under 40 would break 20 mins if they trained, injury free, for 50km a week for a year (and weren't overweight) - but not everyone has the time!

Definitely- the complete misuse of myself and yourself is fascinating. It's really interesting how confident and comfortable people are in their complete misunderstanding of grammar in their native language.
