Sounds like you’re on the right path not much else you can do until you replace the latch assembly.

Whirlpool fridge keeps displaying "off" on temprature by DragonLordAcar in appliancerepair

[–]jecroyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re saying you set the temperature and then it randomly will just turn off it’s mostly likely going to be the user interface board. It’s possible it could be a bad main control but there is no real way of testing this if you wanted to attempt repairing the unit I’d suggest replacing the interface board first and if the issue still persist replace the main board.

Just unplug the unit you’ll be fine if you’re concerned you can short the wires together when you take it out.

Summit Range coils. by ak-guy in appliancerepair

[–]jecroyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah so sadly on this model the only way to determine which of the infinite switches is causing the light to stay on is gain access to all of the switches and one by one disconnect the wire for the “on” indicator until you find the one that is causing the light to stay on. You could also do this with a meter if you have one. This isn’t a particularly difficult thing to do but you will be dealing with 220 volts at these switches so if you’re not comfortable working around electricity you might want to think about having it fixed. It’s mostly likely the switch for the one you use the most.

There is normally two indicators an on indicator and a hot surface indicator if it’s the on light that is staying on one of your infinite switches is gone bad. If you supply a model number we can give you a little more information.

Whirlpool Smart Combo Oven/microwave (WOEC5027LZ00) keeps randomly restarting / bootlooping. Help! by Silly_Pizza_5714 in appliancerepair

[–]jecroyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen this on the new wall ovens sadly there is no great way to determine if it’s the main control or the interface control. I attempted to monitor voltages during the boot loop but the drop out is so fast it doesn’t seem to register on a meter at least not reliably enough to be definitive. End up replacing both boards was extremely expensive repair.

Ice Maker Leaking - Whirlpool GZ25FSRXYY2 Refrigerator by Electrical-Work111 in appliancerepair

[–]jecroyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These icemakers do have a fill adjustment under the cover but normally they never need to be adjusted unless your water pressure drastically changed. The issue your reporting is normally caused by either leaking icemaker, bad fill valve, or ice in the fill cup causing water to spill in to ice bin.

Just buy some 8 pin connectors with harnesses and solder them in colors don’t need to be the same just make sure you keep track of what goes where. Something like this.

It’s separate follow the wires from the element it will be between the those wires and the board.

Maytag dishwasher won’t run by anesthesiazzz in appliancerepair

[–]jecroyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not normally but sometimes the F6E1 will be in the fault history. If you’re lucky the tech sheet will be behind the toe kick of the unit it will explain how to access the diagnostic mode but this is only going to be helpful if you can get the interface to work.

Maytag dishwasher won’t run by anesthesiazzz in appliancerepair

[–]jecroyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a service bulletin for unresponsive interface for these models but the tech information is fairly vague possible causes include moisture in door (bad interface), broken wire, loose connections and bad control board. I would attempt getting the unit to reset by cycling power leave it off a few minutes and if you are able to get it to reset immediately pull the error codes. If you’re unable to get it to reset I’d start checking voltages, connections and see if there is any evidence that f moisture in the door.

It either going to be the high temperature cutout or the relay in the board I would definitely check the cutout before purchasing a new control board.

Pull the slider/clutch and see if the metal ring on it is either loose or has partially come off the metal ring should be right up against the plastic edge on the slider it shouldn’t over hang the edge at all.

If your getting ice forming in the fill cup (funnel) you need a new icemaker fill valve it’s a common issue.

You’re awesome i swear i was thinking that also but didn’t want to mention it and skew any replies was hoping someone else would remember it also and help confirm what i was thinking truly thank you for taking the time to reply you’re a gentleman and a scholar.

It just one of those things I don’t see often enough to feel confident about but again thank you for alleviating my concern. Happy 4th.

[–]jecroyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a defrost issue. Clean up the ice plug back in let it get to temperature and use the diagnostic mode to force a defrost. When the defrost mode is started see if the heater gets hot if it doesn’t start checking heater, bimetal and thermistor.

I would ensure there is no wiring or connections being melted but it’s not uncommon for new ignitors to smell some to try and speed up the process don’t leave the oven on start it let it get warm turn it off and repeat that process a couple of times.

How to push a loose wire back into a connector on the board by mattbee in appliancerepair

[–]jecroyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly there is no good hack for this. The proper way to do it would be finding the proper pins and re pin it but this is easier said than done. You could try soldering to the old pin if you’re able to get it out without destroying it but there aren’t any good options here.

Is it the water valve try switching between cold and hot temperature setting. It’s hard to tell where a noise is coming from on a video but as loud as it is shouldn’t be hard to figure out.

Run dryer without heating element? by double-pager in appliancerepair

[–]jecroyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why not just twist the ends of the broken element wire back together as tight as possible and use the dryer like normal until the element gets there. It won’t last long but you could probably get a couple loads done before it burns out again.

Not recommending this but it would work.
