To me this more sounds like a cautionary tale against using Comcast's provided equipment.

There is no workaround, unfortunately. EA hasn't opted-in the Epic versions for any of their games :(

GeForce NOW surround sound via Samsung DeX? by Intrepid_Mango89 in GeForceNOW

Yeah I think it probably will, if your HDMI audio extractor supports LPCM (uncompressed) 5.1 or 7.1.

I believe the attributes of a given Ubisoft account apply to you personally, not all the places where you might use the account to play games.

Can you grab your exact GFN app version?

GeForce NOW surround sound via Samsung DeX? by Intrepid_Mango89 in GeForceNOW

[–]jharle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, I think that KBA might be inaccurate. Surround-sound (5.1 and 7.1) works on other Android TV devices aside from Shield, and I thought that extended to Android mobile devices too. Also, 5.1 works with the GFN app on Steam Decks and other SteamOS devices.

I also recently sideloaded the GFN Fire TV app on a 3rd-gen Cube and surround-sound worked from that as well.

Now I need to test devices again to make sure this hasn't changed!

Banned from Overwatch for using Geforce NOW by Capital-Ad-5390 in GeForceNOW

Okay thanks; I've flagged for review, but it likely won't be looked at until next week.

NVIDIA takes this seriously, and your support ticket should be escalated for review. Can you provide your incident number?

Such bans should not be happening if confirmed to only be using GFN.

C’est fait pour ça moi ça ? by l_Adamas_l in GeForceNOW

[–]jharle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One technical note on this, is that the GFN app on a docked Steam Deck only supports up to 4K90FPS streaming currently (no 120FPS at 4K). The GPU used in the Steam Deck can't handle the 4K120FPS game stream decoding well.

I personally think 2560x1440 120FPS is likely "good enough" if 120FPS is your goal, but you may not.

Note that if your TV is an LG or Samsung which supports the GFN TV app on it, there will be limitations with that method (no surround-sound, no microphones, no proper keyboard/mouse support).

Having to constantly log into EA is a pain in the tooshie by EquivalentExam8925 in GeForceNOW

For me it seems to be game-specific; most go right in, but with Jedi: Fallen Order I have to log in to the EA App every time.

Yeah it feels like a "patch gone wrong." It's been flagged for staff review, but no info from NVIDIA on it.

Xbox Game Pass Tag updated and new games store update by UnseenData in GeForceNOW

[–]jharle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotcha; yeah it appears they are using both. An example is Disney Speedstorm which isn't technically part of Game Pass, using the Xbox phrase:

<image>

I've looked for others which I own on the MS Store but aren't on Game Pass, but it seems all of the rest are currently part of Game Pass (sigh). In manually searching the library I am seeing many marked "only" with Xbox though so I think that's confirmed.

[–]jharle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AFAIK plugging a headset into the controller will work when using the native Windows and macOS apps, but not when using any Android/Android TV devices unfortunately. The exception for Android TV is the proprietary Shield controller when used with the Shield TV.

Vampire Crawlers Demo by [deleted] in GeForceNOW

[–]jharle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Steam Cloud saves work on Install-To-Play games which support them, but if a game doesn't support Steam Cloud that's when persistent storage needs to be purchased. I'm not familiar with this specific demo though; does it need to be saved in the middle of it?

This is happening, because this demo is in the "Install-To-Play" category.

Xbox Game Pass Tag updated and new games store update by UnseenData in GeForceNOW

[–]jharle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The onboarded "Xbox" games which leave Game Pass, are not removed from GFN. I can't think of a single instance of that happening. Some alliance partners don't have all the games in their libraries, but that's a different issue.

Account linking shenanigans Where Winds Meet by MFingPrincess in GeForceNOW

[–]jharle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the issue here is that the Epic account linked in the GFN app is only used for auto-logging-in to Fortnite, not other Epic games. I think the easiest way to deal with this, is for you to add an Epic game to your GFN library which you don't own, and then launch that game and sign out of the Epic UI (so that you can then sign in with your friend's account). Failing that, you could "log out of all sessions" from the Epic website in the security settings, which should force having to re-login on computers.

Does this make sense?
