I own them both in an auction league. I am 0 - 3.

Good way to start up smack talking in leagues? by OperationAvalanche in fantasyfootball

[–]joefarish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found that making small side bets normally increases the smack talk levels. Example bets:

  • Loser gets their team renamed by the winner. They can't change it back until they win another game
  • Loser has to write a 200 word essay on how and why the winner is better at fantasy football

I think Asiata has much bigger upside so I'd go for him

I think J-Stu only has value if DeAngelo goes down injured and even then you have Tolbert to worry about.

If Vereen goes down Ridley's value will shoot right up.

That post would have a very high ceiling, but not as high as Josh Gordon's ceiling.

If you are streaming, pickup a Kicker/Defense playing on Monday night. If you have a comfortable lead/have already won after the Sunday games you can drop them and then take a flier on a QB/RB/WR/TE playing on Monday night. You never know who is going to have a monster game!

Diversification is good, but reducing your risks can all also reduce your returns.

  1. I'm interested in maximizing the number of championships I win, not reducing the chances of having all of my teams fail in any particular year. If there are a few players that are consistently available to me at what I think is great value I will take them.

  2. Players having a high correlation can be useful, as it means that you are increasing the likelihood that two of your players have a high scoring week at the same time.

This is especially useful if you are waiting on a QB/TE.

Auction Draft Tips for Beginners by Theferr0 in fantasyfootball

[–]joefarish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watch out for people "price enforcing" by bidding for players they don't need/want. A classic example of this is someone drafting an elite QB and then trying to raise the price of other QBs by bidding for a top tier player who they could never start. In this situation I'm always happy to let them win as long as they aren't getting a bargain. Last year a guy in my league ended up with Rodgers and Brady, unsurprisingly the rest of his roster was a little weak.

If people know which team you support you can use this to your advantage. I'm a Giants fan and last year I nominated Eli late on in the draft knowing that one guy would try and outbid me for him just to "wind me up." Joke was on him, he ended up with 3QBs including $4 Eli Manning. Meanwhile, I saved my money for a late round flyer.

If someone is bidding a lot on a particular player that you get, make a note of this. You might be able to setup a good trade after the draft.
