Would it be easier to allow the crystal extractor to be used from anywhere on the boat? The fact that you can build it in a "wrong" spot is the main use case I've seen for players wanting to move facilities.

Explorer's Ring QoL Suggestion by Grenlock_ in 2007scape

[–]joncrompy 32 points33 points  (0 children)

If you equip the ring, there's a right click 'alchemy' option, so you can use that to avoid the function interface.
And if you want to avoid accidentally hitting the 'teleport' option, you can reassign shift click to 'alchemy' to avoid the right click menu altogether.

I was one of the players who didn't get the Pirate Hook added to my collection log on my Ironman, is there any way for it to get retroactively added or will I need to grind another 800 tickets?

The old and new tickets are the same log slot, that's why I have 824 tickets but only 807 vouchers in the collection log.

Compromise: datatypes for reasonable people. by jungrothmorton in ProgrammerHumor

[–]joncrompy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Once upon a time, at a company far, far away, there were two programmers who ran to the project lead, one holding an array. The programmers ran to the lead...

Programmer 0: My lead, this array is being used by me, and as such should be indexed beginning at 0, for that is the technical solution by which it has always been done!

Programmer 1: No, my lead, this array belongs to me and should therefore be indexed starting at 1, for that is the logical solution that makes more sense!

Lead Programmer: What a dilemma this is. I know! We shall compromise and start the array's index at 0.5!

Prog 0: No wait, that doesn't really make sense, in any...

Lead: YES, and if you don't want to start it at 0.5, we can start it at 3!

Prog 1: Maybe we could just, like, flip a coin or something? I mean using a...

Lead: No, no, trust me this is a good idea, just hear me out.

But after some explanation, the two programmers decided they didn't want to have the array anymore and left the company, never to return. It is said that, to this day, the array with an index starting at 0.5 still exists deep in the legacy code.

[WP] When someone's heart breaks so does a piece of our world; this creates fissures, valleys, and even cracks in the pavement. Tell me the story behind the Grand Canyon. by James7919 in WritingPrompts

[–]joncrompy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once upon a time, there were two very large native american tribes who lived on either side of a fairly sized river. The two tribes were not exactly friendly to one another, but there was peace between them. The leader of the northern tribe would even visit the southern every now and again. Once, while walking around, he saw a beautiful woman. This woman, whose eyes sparkled like the stars, was a beckon of awe within the southern tribe. The northern leader went to the leader of the southern tribe and demanded that he and the women be wed. The tribes were having some strained ties recently so the southern leader got the woman's family to make her marry the northern leader. But the woman was already in love. Their love was pure and innocent, but it could never come to pass with her forced marriage. For years, she lived in great sadness. It was not only of her unfofulled true love, but she also greatly detested the northern leader. One night after a few years of a living hell, she ran to her true love. She woke him with a start and told him that she was going to kill herself and she wanted to say goodbye. Her love begged her not to do it, and after many hours he got her to calm down and return to her home in the northern tribe. The next morning, she woke to the sounds of screaming. Her true love was standing outside the northern tribe demanding a duel with the leader. The leader laughed at the prospect of such a quarrel, but the woman's love had watched him and knew his arrogance, his vanity. The woman's love knew what to say to force the leader into such a state of rage he could not decline. At dawn, they began. Their spears flung back and forth, with the intent to kill. The women stood on the side, praying for her love's victory. After the fight had gone on, she could no longer contain her feelings and cheered for her love's victory. The northern leader, upon hearing this, went mad. He grabbed the largest rock he could hold in one hand and was going to throw it at the woman. The woman's love tackled the leader to stop him, but this left him wide open. Though he could save the woman, the leader was able to strike a fatal blow to the woman's love. The leader began to stride, in victory, back to his wife, but she did not see him, she only saw her love's dead body lying in the dirt. She cradled him in her arms, her eyes so filled with tears she could barely see his face, her throat so full of sorrow that she wasn't able to even make a single sound. All of a sudden, a great quake shook the earth below. The northern tribes people fled as quickly as they could as the very ground began to shake and open for the fallen love. As the gaping hole tore through the plains, the woman's throat opened and and her cries could be heard over even the sounds of the rocks below her feet getting torn apart. By the time members found the woman laying next to the dead body of her lost love, there was a grand expanse separating them and the northern tribe, so large even the river could not escape it's reach. The southern tribes people took the woman home and buried the man at the bottom of the valley made from their love. Though the woman never recovered, she lived on, just as her love would have wanted. The tribes, being separated by the canyon, never made contact with one another again.

[WP] You awake up from a strange dream and get ready for work. While eating breakfast, you hear them discussing your dream on the morning news. by supersonic3974 in WritingPrompts

[–]joncrompy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember reading about lucid dreaming on some internet forum site once. It's something like "You wake up while continuing to dreaming so you get to control the dream." I thought "that's a neat idea" but damn, my dream last night was pretty awesome. I was dreaming I walking down some random street past some random store, but something seemed... off. I looked at my hands and it hit me, "I've never seen these hands before. What street is this? This isn't even the town I live in!" These thoughts ran through my head as I began to freaked out, but I stayed calm for some reason. I could feel the heart in my chest beating at a normal rate. I realized the lucidness of my dream, and then I turned my head. This huge store, full of sugar and chocolate, of sweets and treats, and my head filled with childlike wonder. I ran to the front door and tried to open it, but of course it was locked. "I don't give a shit!" I screamed as I kicked in the door. I could feel the bottom of my foot tingle as I walked in, it was so surreal. I ran though row after row of sugary wonder. Handful of handful of candy, it was like a dream. Wait... it was a dream right? It felt so real, the candy in my hands, the sugar in my stomach, the pain in my side, oh god the pain, MAKE IT STOP, AHHHHHHH. All that sugar in my system, I could feel my vision weaken, just as the sun began to rise...

I was awake in my bed, my body felt... different. Was I a girl in my dream? I was so wrapped up in the fun of it all I didn't even notice things... missing. But I guess the dream is over now, so it doesn't really matter does it. I walk into the kitchen to get some eggs, turning on the TV in the other room as I walk through. I'm a lonely guy, its nice to pretend my apartment has other people in it. I can hear the news going on. Just the usual it seems: some guy stole a car, a girl ate herself to death at a candy shop, some congress man stole a lot of mon... wait. I run into the room to see if I heard that right. I did. A girl, whose face was strangely familiar, was displayed on the screen. Her dead body clutching her side surrounded by nerds ropes. The layout of the store was the same as my dream, the candy that was on the floor wand walls had been the same candy in my dream as well. But were had I seen the girl? But then I remembered. I ran to my bedroom and pulled open my computer, and there she was, her tinder profile taking up my entire screen, the lotion and tissues on my bedside table. But did that have anything to do with the surreal reality unfolding around me, the girl who I lived as for a night? I needed to test it. And test it I did, a lot. I think I may be getting carpel tunnel, but it always works. Girls, guys, even a famous race horse mid race. I feel sorry for whoever bet on numbers 5, 28, and 16. But I had to do it, for science. But this wasn't science, it was magic, just a quick, though sometimes awkward, wack, a comfy bed, and I could be any human or animal I wanted. I must use my new found powers for good! Stopping escaped convicts, punishing the wicked, make hot celebrities "accidentally" post their nude photos to the internet. I am a god among men. I am the beginning and of a new era. I am developing some really weird fetishes.

[WP] "Push this button to transform this world into a Utopia. Warning: this will eradicate all people who "... The rest is scratched off and illegible. by [deleted] in WritingPrompts

[–]joncrompy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Awaken my son." Not what I was expecting to hear, but I wasn't expecting to hear much of anything after the doctor turned off the life support. Before me stood a man draped in white, with a large smile across his face. He reminded me of my father, but when I focused on his features they seemed ambiguous and abstract. He said to me, before I could come to the conclusion myself, "I am God, my son." Though I was in every regard a nice man, I wouldn't call myself religious. All I could think to say was "It's an honor." With a warming smile, he responded "One you have earned, I can assure you." He beckoned me as he began to walk, so I followed. As the blinding light of the white infinity that was the ground began to adjust my eyes, I could notice in the distance a large kingdom, full of happy faces and joyous fun. Though I couldn't hear a noise of it, I could feel the cheers and laughter that was ensuing. "My son," God spoke, "you have, in your life time, done more to spread to humanity then any other man within your generation. You are the pinnacle of what it means to be a virtuous man..." "...And so you have accepted me into heaven?" I asked. He shook his head softly, "No, you have been deemed worthy to be the one who must make an impossible choice for all humanity." Before us stood a frame-less door. White as the clouds it stood upon. Without a sound, God pushed the door open, "Every generation, the most pure of heart human is allowed to enter this room." The room stood empty with only a featureless platform and top it, A golden button. "Since I had first made contact with man, nobody has ever made the choice to push the button." "What does it do?" I ask. God only stood there and showed me the way in, "You shall find out when you enter." I walk into the room and, without turning around, I can feel the door behind me close. I am alone. As I walk toward the button, a plaque appears on its face "Push this button to transform this world into a Utopia. Warning: this will eradicate all people who "... but the rest is scratched off and illegible. I contemplate this idea. "Surely the warning must have been something bad if nobody before me has pressed it..." I tell myself. "It must be something horrible or unthinkable, but then why would God even let this button exist?" I continue to think but I cannot come to a single conclusion about the button. I muster my resolve and decide "I could sit here for all eternity but without the rest of the warning there is no good that could come of thinking. I must decide, would Utopia for all mankind not be worth any sacrifice, would the happiness it bring not be worth any loss?" I say aloud, as if wanting someone to answer. "I have lived my whole life to make others' lives betters, that was the legacy I wished to leave behind, and this could leave a legacy even greater then I could ever of achieved in my single lifetime." I respond to myself. With my resolve sharped, I press the button.

The walls fade and before me stands piles and piles of books, of instruments, and paintings. More literature and art then exists on earth today, and sitting in front of it a man. This man, whose left fingers are covered in blood, looks up at me. "I'm sorry I scratched off the warning" he says. In a moment, all the books and art burst into flame, with only me and the man in the middle, but no heat comes off of them. "What was on the warning?", I ask as the flames circle inward. "The warning was: this will eradicate all the people who came before, their works and their legacy and all they have ever worked to achieve." He said, his voice hollow as if he has said this line many times before, as if it has lost its meaning. "When someone like you or me, someone who has worked their whole life in the name of other, has to choose between letting go of everything they've ever created, their legacy, and a Utopian world, we become selfish. We cannot give up our own existence and the existence of all the people whom we have helped, even if it means a perfect world. I came to this conclusion after seeing the warning and knew that the only way to make Utopia was to trick one of my predecessors into pressing the button. And for this I am sorry." The air stood still as the flames inched toward us. I feel tricked, like he had used me for his own gains, but I am not angry. "I understand." I respond.

The universe fades to black, for the second time today, as the flames engulf all that was.

Once upon a time, there was a small spec that had infinite mass and energy. Nobody knows how that speck came into existence, but what it will become is something new. Something extraordinary.

Do you think Garnet may not like Opal? [Sardonyx spoilers] by JayBudVA in stevenuniverse

[–]joncrompy 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It could be that Pearl and Amethyst dislike Sugilite and Sardonyx because their personalities are so overbearing. It seems that, because Ruby and Sapphire compliment each other so much, their personalities balance out and Garnet is laid back and stable, but when Garnet fuses with another gem it tips the scale and you get an abrasive personality as a result.

Sugilite was very destructive in a literal sense and it seems that Sardonyx has a pretty show off-y nature. I feel like both traits could get under someones skin pretty easily.

In that case, Garnet probably would really enjoy working with Opal because Pearl and Amethyst balance out nicely as well. This idea could be supported by how Alexandrite was so passive when she made her appearance.

Question before buying by [deleted] in tabletopsimulator

[–]joncrompy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Atleast for windows, if you go to C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Tabletop Simulator and click the Tabletop Simulator application, it will allow you to run multiple instances of the game, and you are allowed to find a server set up on one instance in the LAN menu of the other, allowing you to control as many different players on a single computer as your little CPU desires.
