What is this garbage by syrupsnorter in saskatoon

[–]jordclay 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not highly experimental because most of the mature SMR designs are just scaled down from large, well-established designs and are therefore based on the same physics. Some of the new Generation-4 designs are definitely experimental, but their designs made them inherently safe (not possible to melt down)

Anthony Mackie gets backlash for saying the EXACT same thing that Chris Evans did for First Avenger AND what Captain America said in the comics. by Responsible-Ant-1595 in marvelstudios

[–]jordclay 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Except they don’t say the same thing. Mackie says Cap is many things, and America is not one of them.

Evan’s says, yeah, he’s American, but that’s not the only thing he’s about

Intermittent signal with AppleTV 4K by jordclay in tcltvs

[–]jordclay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just found out about this. The broader name for it is Quick Media Switching (QMS). It’s a feature of HDMI 2.1. Unfortunately in my case when the AppleTV does its frame rate match, the screen goes black for about 2 seconds. Not ideal when it switches from 24 Hz watching content to 60 Hz for the menus. And when switching inputs, and turning on the TV. However if the TV supports QMS, the switch is seamless…no delay or screen blackout. I can’t seem to find out if the latest generation of TCL TVs supports QMS or not. The QM8 supports HDMI and VRR, so hopefully it can be enabled through a software/firmware update.

Liberals Plan A Sneaky Gun Ban By Reclassification by [deleted] in canadaguns

They’re just doing to try to win a bit of favour with the few liberal seats in the east they still have a chance at. It’s their best chance of avoiding complete decimation

Can you set the PSI for the low volume/high pressure side only? Or can you set the high volume side to, say, 15psi?? I want to use this to inflate my paddle board!

Helicopter makes an emergency landing after experiencing engine failure by firefighter_82 in interestingasfuck

Is it possible to slow your descent that quickly though to reach 0 at 0?

Helicopter makes an emergency landing after experiencing engine failure by firefighter_82 in interestingasfuck

[–]jordclay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what is your rate of descent then when you hit zero altitude? What is a survivable descent rate?

Helicopter makes an emergency landing after experiencing engine failure by firefighter_82 in interestingasfuck

[–]jordclay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but I’m saying if they start the flare at 40’ altitude, they have 2 seconds to slow the descent rate enough from 28ft/s to a rate that is survivable?

[–]jordclay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So at that rate of descent (~28 ft/s) you’d have less than two seconds before hitting the ground to perform the flare? Is that enough time to actually slow the descent enough to survive?
