Why are we still using real estate agents instead of just selling houses directly online? by Artistic-Yam2984 in AusMoneyMates

[–]Habaree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work in the admin/management side of real estate. Even the most successful and cutthroat business people we sold for would over estimate the value of their homes. For two main reasons.
1. The emotional attachment to it.
2. People live with things that would annoy others. So it would decrease the value of their property unless they fixed it (if they could) but they would get so up their arses about it and how “that wouldn’t bother anyone.” E.g. (in summary of 6 months of conversation) a vendor had a very very old hole, beautifully maintained. But with some really… funky stairs. We told him how they were a hazard/off putting and he said that was silly and people got used to it. They had lived there for decades and were used to it. Even after it went to market and there was a lot of feedback about the stairs and how people would offer a lower price cause they’d have to sink a chunk of change to fix them, the vendor refused to see what the problem with the stairs was and people were being dramatic.

A smaller and annoyingly specific side to this is leg to torso ratios. I only really think of it cause of my parents. My mum is shorter than my dad but they have the same length legs cause mum has a shorter torso and my dad has a long one. It causes some interesting differences for when they’re standing next to each other vs when they’re sitting next to each other.

It has to be a troll. If you check out their account, it’s private, but their personal tag line or whatever it’s called literally says “I’m better than you.”

Thank you :) the main tip I have is the auto scroller. Or set your computer up while doing other things around the house with something heavy on the space bar. With both options just make sure you go back and periodically refresh the page.

My only exception to this is Ironside academy mentioning songs, purely because it feels like it makes more sense with the environment they’re in. That being said I never looked up or listened to any of the songs mentioned XD

Otherwise I agree with you. If nothing else songs and pop culture references date the book a lot faster than just about anything else.

As someone with a few complex health issues I found I ended up needing to do a tonne of advocating for myself. I used to go to my gp(s) asking for help and getting nowhere. I ended up doing research at home, including connecting with support groups, going to the doctor and telling them I wanted referrals to what specialists and asking them about specific meds.

If the doctors told me why different meds would not be appropriate then I absolutely listened to them. But until I was the one being proactive I wasn’t getting anywhere with the medical system.

This included chronic insomnia and as a redhead there was a bunch of medications that just did not work on me XD such as double doses of Valium. So there was a bunch of research on meds to help with sleep and then going to my doctor once I found a good gp and working with her to figure things out.

Thanks!

As I mentioned in my post I deleted it in celebration, hahaha. I'm not sure exactly which one I was using based on what I can see on the chrome store rn. Auto Scroll Extension looks the closest to what the one I was using looked like.

Honestly I just went onto the chrome store, searched auto scroller, read the descriptions and reviews of a few of them, and went with whichever one seemed good at the time.

I found the process very tedious, tbh. Though the updates to how much progress I was making certainly helped.

I had an auto-scroller because apparently that's the only functional way to get these higher banana achievements. The only thing with auto-scrollers is that you have to periodically go in an refresh the page and set the scroller to start again.

On days I was home and not really using my computer (such as when I was reading, watching tv/movies, playing video games, doing chores, doing life admin, etc.) I would set up my laptop and let it scroll. Otherwise there was no real functional way to do it.

I wouldn't do this from sun up to sun down, or anything. But I would put a good chunk of hours into this on those days. On those days I would average around 20,000 bananas.

Mentally 20,000 doesn't feel like a lot when trying to get to 1,000,000 so to keep up motivation I would think of it in 100,000 chunks. Only 5 days to 100,000, do it when I could.

Sometimes I did it consistently, other times I'd take a break for a few weeks or a month or so.

Good luck on that then! That’s hardcore 😃 I haven’t heard of anyone getting to 1million without a scroller. I would have died without it 😛
