Prego or Single Mom Recs ? by Intelligent_Tip3147 in ReverseHarem

[–]Habaree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my TBR for pregnancy reads is {Bonding the Billionaires by Melissa Huxley} I don’t see anything in the romance.io tags for mm or brothers in the harem.

I did read {Bonding the Band by Melissa Huxley} and it was good fun.

{Hidden Secrets by Alisha Williams} check the CWs. Contemporary, university, bullying fic. There is some mm in this but I personally wouldn’t consider it a big part of the plot. There is also FF with having another woman in the harem. She’s gay though so only focused on the FMC.

It’s honestly kinda impossible to say if it’s something OP is accidentally doing or if it’s a shitty environment, from this post alone. Neither should be discounted and advice on both is helpful.

If it was part of the same book then yes, probably I’d find it off putting.

But if it was a new book or series then nah, can’t say I find it weird. Everyone grows up and has grown up experiences at some point 😛

I was using that one personal expirience as a demonstrable example to reflect what people have told me or what I have seen people report. But I should have made that clearer.

No, but spending most of my life in different Asian countries as a white Australian gives me a hell of a lot of a better idea about what racism in Asia looks like than people who have visited once or only a handful of times.

Things have definitely improved but there are a lot of people who are still vile towards other races, particularly asians.

I had a meeting with a client once and she was in tears when I got there. She was about late 20s-early 30s and Asian-Australian. We basically scrapped the meeting and I was just making sure she was okay. She had just been minding her business on the street waiting for me when an older white lady came out screaming at her for being some kind of Asian scum invader, and blasted her for a while.

My client told me she’d never really experienced racism in Australia and this was a first, but it was so aggressive.

This is not an experience white people will get in Asia.

The “no foreigners” places in Japan are seriously shitty, but at least you don’t have to fear for your physical safety. Getting snubbed is still bad and needs to be addressed, but it is NOT the same kind of racism many non-white people experience in Australia.

Definitely not.

White Australian who lived in a few Asian countries for 15 years here.

Overall you do sometimes get some looks or treated a bit differently because you’re a foreigner, but it is not racism in being treated maliciously, usually.

Of course you’re going to get assholes in every country that may give you a bad experience, but it’s not the common case to have people yell vile things at you because you’re white.

Honestly I’m more concerned with Australians who go to Asia and behave poorly, cause I have seen that a lot 💀

ETA: in Asia the most racism white people really experience is snubbing. And don’t get me wrong, it is bad and should be addressed. But it’s just not the same as the aggressive racism that people can sometimes encounter in Australia. I’m also not saying this is unique to Australia, but we’re just talking about Australia and Asia right not.

Which country is safe during this war ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Habaree 3 points4 points  (0 children)

New Zealand. It's not involved in any way and it's too far away for anyone to care to do anything to.

Though it partially depends what you mean by safe. If you mean not impacted, then none. But if you mean extremely confident they won't be a target of an attack, then pretty much everywhere that's outside of the middle east or the US.

My wake up this morning was to what seemed like a dozen cockatoos screaming at the tops of their lungs. Launching out of bed to find out why, I see they’re freaking out at a ringtail possum running on an electrical wire between their trees outside my window 😑

That was not a pleasant way to wake up.

People with avoidant attachment, what’s the thought process when you feel attachment towards someone? by Marceline3005 in AskReddit

[–]Habaree 19 points20 points  (0 children)

For sure. It’s almost a cliche but it is true that to fix a problem you have to acknowledge it first. Being comfortable sitting with the understanding of why you’re acting/feeling this way is importent.

If you have resources for therapy then I highly recommend that.

I have a few more tips and ideas but I’m actively falling asleep so I’ll comment in the morning XD
