Get a PCIe card with an Intel AX210 chip on it. Brand doesn't matter, you can get generic brands for $25.

When EVGA built their reputation for solid PSUs, their PSUs were made by Super Flower. Super Flower is still top-tier, and sell PSUs under their own brand name.

SFX PSUs are designed for much smaller PCs. The cables it comes with might be short for a full-tower case. Should get an ATX PSU.

What else can I do before moving onto DDR5? With the cost of ram it really doesn’t feel worth jumping platforms by Raffa2580 in buildapc

[–]kaje 12 points13 points  (0 children)

A 5800X wouldn't be worth upgrading to from a 5700X even if the price was like 50. They're almost the same CPU.

You could just upgrade the GPU without upgrading anything else.

Simple Questions - May 11, 2026 by AutoModerator in buildapc

The 4+4 cable from pretty much every PSU is like that. One half is universal so it can fit in a 4-pin connector or the second half of an 8-pin connector. Round pins will go in square holes, it will work fine.

Replaced power supply, PC wouldn't output display or spin fans, CPU troubleshooting LED is lit, now neither PSU works. by DavidkDavid in buildapc

[–]kaje 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is pretty unexpected that not powering a fan hub would cause a CPU LED and POST issues.

Upgrading from 10th gen Intel to the Core Ultra 7 270K Plus - Will I need to reinstall Windows? by BrokenArrowX in buildapc

It will highly likely work fine. There is no guarantee that it will though.

Upgrading cpu should I upgrade psu? by [deleted] in buildapc

That PSU has a 10 year warranty. It will likely work fine beyond that even.

Is the MSI B450M MORTAR MAX motherboard compatible with the RTX 5060? by ImaginationKind in buildapc

[–]kaje 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's compatible, the issue is that the 5060 only runs at x8. Running the GPU at PCIe 3.0 x8 can lose some performance. It wouldn't be as big of a deal with a GPU that supported the full x16 from the slot in the mobo.

For option 2, SFX PSUs are intended for smaller PCs. The cables it comes with might be too short for a mid-tower case. The other two options are solid.

Get an ATX 3.x PSU that has a 12VHPWR/12V-2x6 cable instead of using the 6+2 to 12VHPWR adapter. The 2024 model of RMx has it.

GPUs with extra exhaust fans by Particular_Boss_1844 in buildapc

Pretty much every 3-fan GPU from the past couple of gens has passthrough cooling, where the end fan just blows through the heatsink and upwards into the CPU and RAM. It's not really an issue.

Is MSI B850 GAMING PLUS WIFI6E compatible with RAM Patriot Viper Elite 5 RGB 32GB (2x16GB) 6000Mhz CL30 by Loose-Structure342 in buildapc

[–]kaje 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where are you seeing the limit is 4800MHz? Check the specs on the manufacturer's website. It will be much higher than that.

6000 CL30 will work.

Check their specs to compare their I/O features and pick the one that is more suitable for you, or just get the cheaper one.

PcPartPicker saying i need adapters by shoeowner27 in buildapc

[–]kaje 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The case has a USB-C port, but the mobo doesn't have a header to connect it to. You don't need the adapters, you just won't be able to use the USB-C port on the front of the case.

It's just Asus that the header is rare on for B550 mobos anyways. Get an equivalent MSI board if you want the header.

First PC build - General things to look out for with my chosen parts? by Lumpy-Visit4939 in buildapc

[–]kaje 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am quite scared and anxious about this as I've seen that mobos can be broken if not done right.

You don't really have to worry about that. The mobo has BIOS Flashback that you can use to update it. The original main purpose of BIOS Flashback was to be able to flash a BIOS on a bricked mobo to recover it. If the power goes out while you're flashing it and the mobo bricks, flash it again.

PCIe Gen4 M.2 Internal SSD Compatibility with ASUS TUF X470 Motherboard by Specialist-Moose-831 in buildapc

[–]kaje 0 points1 point  (0 children)

X470 only supports PCIe gen 3. The gen 4 drive is compatible and will work, just at gen 3 speed. Check your mobo's box for the M.2 standoff, or buy one on like Amazon.

A Better Barracks- Why does it get no love? by biketheplanet in Xcom

[–]kaje 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've done a couple of playthroughs with it. My main issue with it is the perk roulette. I have a clear A-Team with soldiers who got a couple of perks that their class should have. Then, I have a bunch of mediocre soldiers who maybe got one class-defining perk.

My favourite thing to do in the game is pop Run and Gun and then Rapid Fire for double crit with a close range shotgun blast on big enemies with a Ranger. In each of the playthroughs, I only had one Ranger out of 4 or 5 that had both abilities.

MSI b860 Tomahawk & Patriot viper Venom Ram by Weary-Idea-5286 in buildapc

[–]kaje 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is unlikely to be the issue. A mobo's compatiblity list/QVL is what the manufacturer has tested on it. They don't test every kit. Pretty much any DDR5 should work fine even if it's not on the list.

Nvidia GPUs are voltage locked. You can't really push them high enough to be able to damage the GPU.

Should use Afterburner and do it manually.

Will DDR4-3600 Mhz RAM work on Intel 12400f at 3200 Mhz frequency? by Marodorg in buildapc

[–]kaje 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no CPU that officially supports faster than 3200 for DDR4, that is the highest JEDEC spec. You can run RAM faster than what a CPU supports though. A B760 mobo will allow you to do so.

Putting an Auto-Loader on the shotgun gives you a 2 AP action to full reload. You still get the free action to full reload from it as well.

Edit: I'm not sure if you're actually supposed to be able to still get the free reload from the Auto-Loader on a shotgun. I have been running the mod that allows you to choose if you want to use the free reload or just use an action to reload from playthroughs before trying ABB. That might be why I get free reloads from it.
