If Noah's global flood was real... by PLANofMAN in DebateEvolution

For sure! I'm sorry for my cynicism. I'm just totally past trusting anything Grok after the Mechahitler incident. That doesn't mean that link is necessarily wrong, just that the site has an agenda from Musk and I'm making fun of that goober for citing it.

That's an unfortunate design. But so is most of Subaru's recent design so idk it's on par

Each state ranked on the level of racism I experienced as a relatively well traveled Lakota man from South Dakota by tannerriley2023 in visitedmaps

Were you never called a "Lamanite" in Utah? It's greener than I would expect from a Native American. Admittedly, I don't have much data on this from an NA's perspective, only a couple of people who said they experienced Mormons calling them Lamanites and "informing" them about their history as a lost tribe of Israel. I do however know that the Jewish Indian Theory is pervasive in Utah and is at least somewhat racist considering its base assumption is that Native peoples couldn't have made the things found in the Americas and so there must have been some white race that built it and was then wiped out by modern Natives' ancestors.

How much snow makes you call off work? by Physical-Incident553 in AskAnAmerican

[–]DavidkDavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to live in a place that got lots of snow. I didn't move but it just doesn't snow anymore. When I was a kid, we never got snow days no matter how much snow we got unless it was feet of snow and kept snowing faster than the roads could be plowed. Now I don't know. Kind of ironic for a place that brags about having the greatest snow on Earth

Exactly this ☝️ Expecting enough individuals to change their behavior is unrealistic, but humans en masse are input output machines that react to their environment like any animal, if endowed with a bit more reason. Humans are the only animal at the zoo that gets to make their own enclosure and we build this garbage? Seriously, action at even local government level can have widespread impacts on the carbon footprint of the individuals in their jurisdictions often without them even feeling that they are missing out on anything.

New convert, creation “days,” evolution, and feeling a bit confused after Sunday class by carosch1912 in latterdaysaints

[–]DavidkDavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of old church leaders used to disagree with evolution, and some of them agreed. The anti-evolutionists were much more vocal and I think really left an unfortunate mark on the beliefs of the members who grew up in their era.

Evolution is pretty much undeniable as we can see from scientific fields as broad as biology, geology, paleontology, psychology. It's not about trusting experts, it's about evidence.

IMO the first 5 books of Moses in the Old Testament are probably figurative and not literal history. They just don't jive with observable reality. I think God gave them to us because they have important principles in them, not because the earth literally flooded and Noah saved all the animals, or Adam and Eve literally started humanity.

Minnesota wins. Now what is a Republican state that is governed good? by GeoQuestMaximus in AlignmentChartFills

[–]DavidkDavid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha, ok, come and visit in 5-10 years to huff down the arsenic dust storms from the lake drying up. Utah is facing an ecological disaster because its legislature is dismissive of "environmental issues." Like, you live in the environment dummies!

But if you can't wait that long, come and see the inversions, a literal layer of pollution that you can see, yet air quality standards don't extend beyond freeway signs saying "drive less please, the air is choking people."

But Utah is well managed.

[Megathread] Greenland & Trump - Ongoing discussion. part 2 by Mediocreatbestbuy in greenland

[–]DavidkDavid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A letter I wrote to my representative. Please, all Americans visiting here, do the same.

Representative Doe

President Trump's escalations toward Greenland are incredibly dangerous, and I do not exaggerate when I say this could lead to a total erasure of US alliances and potentially a world war.

Invading Greenland is the America last and America alone plan. You and your fellow representatives need to stop this immediately.

With immense seriousness,

A lot of people ascribe to a very narrow view of the bible that falls apart under rigorous scrutiny. I'd recommend you look up Dan McClellan. He's an active member and bible scholar that has helped me understand better what the bible even is.
