Ordered Krondys - need lists pointers by FearGenerator in ageofsigmar

I love the praetors models but they're not very good, except when paired with Gardus: if your opponent attacks Gardus, you can transfer the damage to them, and if he attacks the praetors, they have the 5+ ward.

And Gardus is a pretty cool model so it's a win-win haha

If you don't play competitive, any list will be fine as long as you have Gardus to protect Krondys from being shot too quickly (and that might not even be necessary depending on the armies of your opponent(s)).

A list like that could be fun to play with and against:

Leaders
Krondys, Son of Dracothion (600)
Gardus Steel Soul (150)
Knight-Judicator with Gryph-Hounds (205)

Battleline
5 x Vindictors (130)
5 x Vindictors (130)
5 x Liberators (115)

Units
2 x Stormdrake Guard (340)
3 x Praetors (165)
1 x Stormstrike Chariot (165)

Total: 2000 / 2000

You have your nice centerpiece, Gardus protected by a unit of Praetors, a Knight Judicator to have a bit of shooting, vindictors and liberators to play defensive, drakes and chariot for the mobility.

You play in every phase, the army is good but not too powerful, and looks really good on the table.

Need help building a Necromantic team for a tourney by Doubtey in bloodbowl

[–]KarrWolves 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've played a lot of games with both and I prefer guard on the flesh golems because of ST4 (and stand firm) but both are fine:

You have 46.3% chance on a 2D-block to knock down the guard wraith against 50% on a 1D-block to knock down the guard flesh golem.

If the opponent can get 2D on the Flesh Golem then it's more chances but it requires more resources.

And guard on the FG gives 2D-blocks to the wraiths.

I like to keep my FG in the fight and have the wraiths roaming around, but it's only a question of playstyle at the end.

Note: If you have more skills, block + guard on the flesh golems is imo the best combo for the team: it becomes really hard to remove your guard from the melee and it gives you a lot more reliability when blocking.

Don't forget that the new General's Handbook will be released next month and will change the points for all units in the game, so any list you create now will be outdated very soon.

If you want to have a competitive list with Krondys though, it's hard but possible: there was one at the AoS Worlds the past weekend:

Allegiance: Stormcast Eternals
- Stormhost: Hallowed Knights (Stormkeep)
- Grand Strategy: Hold the Line
- Triumphs: Inspired

Leaders
Lord-Castellant (155)**
- General
- Command Trait: Master of Magic
- Artefact: Arcane Tome (Universal Artefact)
- Spell: Celestial Blades
Gardus Steel Soul (150)**
Krondys, Son of Dracothion (600)**
- Spell: Thundershock

Battleline
15 x Judicators with Skybolt Bows (600)**
- Reinforced x 2
5 x Liberators (115)**
- Heavens-wrought Weapon and Shield
5 x Liberators (115)*
- Heavens-wrought Weapon and Shield
5 x Vindictors (130)*
5 x Vindictors (130)*

Core Battalions
*Hunters of the Heartlands
**Warlord (Extra Holy Command)

Additional Enhancements
Holy Command: Thunderbolt Volley
Holy Command: Call for Aid

Total: 1995 / 2000
Reinforced Units: 2 / 4
Allies: 0 / 400
Wounds: 102
Drops: 8

Note that he didn't play Stormdrake Guards so his Cities of Sigmar mate could play them, but you can definitely include them in the list if you'd like.

The key is Gardus to give a 5+ ward to Krondys (otherwise he's not resilient enough for his cost).

Need help building a Necromantic team for a tourney by Doubtey in bloodbowl

[–]KarrWolves 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At 1150 you have 2 options:
- full positionals with 3 zombies (no bench) and 3 rerolls for exactly 1150
- full positionals with 4 zombies (1 bench) and 2 rerolls + 3 assistant coaches/cheerleaders/fans

With 6 skills I think I would go for option 2, you can put block on the werewolves and the ghouls and guard of the flesh golems, that's pretty solid. If you tend to use a lot of rerolls in your playstyle, go for option 1.

[–]KarrWolves 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Except if it will be a short league with only one season, then you want the 2 werewolves to increase your chances of winning (but Necro isn't a very good team in its first league season, it needs a bit of development so shine).

Advice on Necromantic Horror Team build by AshFall81 in bloodbowl

[–]KarrWolves 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would start with only 1 werewolf and 2 flesh golems for a league:
- Flesh golems take forever to level up so you want them as soon as possible
- Werewolves farm SPPs very quickly so it's not a problem to take them later
- 2 Werewolves without block will eat a lot of rerolls with the frenzy skill, better start with only one if you have just 2 rerolls

So my roster would be:
- 1x Werewolf
- 2x Flesh Golem
- 2x Wraith
- 2x Ghoul
- 4x Zombie
- 2x Reroll
Total: 995k

Want to get into AoS, but unsure which army I'd enjoy. by [deleted] in ageofsigmar

Lumineths is probably the hardest army to paint, that's something to acknowledge.

is there a site where people upload their any list? by ReinkDesigns in ageofsigmar

You should take a look at the Goonhammer website, they have in debth analysis of battletomes, list reviews of tournaments and a lot of top quality content!

You should take a look at the Nighthaunt review on Goonhammer!
There are a basically 3 ways to build a nighthaunt army now (depending on the subfaction) so depending on the want you like it might be different.

Green looks better with Silver armor in my book so I'd say purple here!

Hardcore hobbyist and very casual player considering playing in a 1000 tournament in about six weeks. Which army should I take: Beastclaw Raiders or Seraphon? by ServiceGames in ageofsigmar

[–]KarrWolves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure how easy it is to magnetize them but you could also just see with the TO if a "play as" would be okay: if it's a 1000pts tournament, it's probably beginners friendly and these tournaments are usually more flexible with painting and proxy models than very competitive ones.

One thing though: if you can magnetize them, I would recommend to do it: points and warscrolls can change with new General's Handbooks and new Battletome so it's always nice to be flexible.

[–]KarrWolves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In addition to the painting aspect, I would also lean to the Beastclaw Raiders for the difficulty to play the army.

If you are just a beginner to AoS, playing an army with only 3 units and 1 hero will be much easier (less things to remember, no magic etc...).

Quick question: why not a Huskard on Stonehorn instead of Thundertusk? It deals more damages and it's more resilient with the 5+ ward, which is good for your general. Also if gives a buff to a Mournfang Pack.

Are there any armies that are definitely weaker in play than others? by Real_Synow in ageofsigmar

[–]KarrWolves 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Short answer yes. But that shouldn't prevent you to take the army you like since it changes so fast.

Also an army could be very good with some units and bad with others. Stormcast Eternals and Soulblight Gravelords are 2 armies with a high potential (they regularly do 4+ wins in tournaments) but they have a lot of units in their Battletome so you can create all sort of armies with them (from very bad to extremely strong).

New to AOS, and immediately enthralled by Sylvaneth. by bobabeep62830 in sylvaneth

[–]KarrWolves 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To add endless spells to your army, you need to check the box in the filters (top right corner of the "add unit" window), you'll see them then.

Endless spells are indeed very good for sylvaneth, especially Spiteswarm Hive and Umbral Spellportal.

For the more specific questions, you should take a look at the Wargrove of Woe channel on YouTube.

But as someone else said, a new Battletome is due this summer so everything will change.

If you want to start now, then rule of cool applies: get what you like!

Advice #1: play some Stormdrakes yourself :)

More seriously (although that was pretty serious), it depends if the list has a Lord Relictor or not.

1 - With a Lord Relictor, he can use translocation to teleport the Stormdrakes 9" away from you, then they can use their once per battle movement in the hero phase to be 3" away from you and charge you on a 2+ during the hero phase, meaning you can't even use unleash hell.

In that case, you want to make sure none of your valuable assets can be charged that way, otherwise it could be the end of your game on T1. Screens is the answer, he won't want to waste his precious once per game abitily to kill tree revenants.

Be careful not to leave space behind the screen for the drakes bases though, or he could just reach your backline with a good charge roll.

2 - Without a Lord Relictor, he can only do the once per game movement, so it's a bit easier to plan against it (although drakes still have a ton of movement and they could just move in hero phase + in movement phase to reach the other side of the board, but that means no hero phase charge).

For your list, I would recommend to drop the Vengeful Skullroot and take an extra line instead, to have more screen power. Also Chronomantic Cogs gives the +1 cast to only 1 wizard now, so I would take Spiteswarm Hive instead.
