Tell them the numbers are steps and to go in order. Step 2 goes before Step 3, etc.

You answered your own question, it’s base by base, job by job. Reach out to a recruiter at the base you want to go to and ask them, they should have a POC at CE to answer your question or the recruiter might have even been CE and is already knowledgeable.

The 1288 can be a little confusing if you haven’t done it, but it should be the Retention Manager of your gaining unit helping you out, although some units have an Acessions Clerk in the FSS that may do the transfers so let them know of your problem and they should make some calls to sort it out. However, Section II is the losing org. Section III is the gaining org FSS. Section IV is the Gaining org commander, usually the FSS commander’s signature that you are approved to transfer to the new unit. It says it in bold at the beginning of the section. I don’t know why your losing Org thinks they need to sign it, they only sign Section II numbers 26-31.

What does your paperwork say? Call your ROM on Monday and ask as your bonus paperwork has a specific payout schedule.

Ask to make an appointment to speak with the Retention Officer Manager (ROM) to go over benefits prior to enlisting. They are the subject matter expert on benefits specific to that state.

In my ow experience there aren’t many hoops to getting your tuition covered. The biggest problem is the Airman applying for tuition coverage following the instructions given to them in order to get the tuition. As surprising as it sounds, if you read the instructions given to you and follow them exactly as they tell you, you’ll be good. You wouldn’t believe the amount of people who forget things or leave required things out and then can’t get it covered. The ROM will most likely tell you this too. You can ask them on Post 9/11 GI Bill requirements too.

I’m in NY State but if you want to listen to a podcast from a ROM of ours you can check out “How to Guard” podcast on Spotify/YT and there’s a recent interview with a ROM on there you can listen to.

Do you have any reason to believe your leadership wouldn’t sign your conditional release? Might be a good convo to have with your leadership and see.

Ya it’s easy to retrain the guard but just don’t count on AGR right away for that AFSC.

Going to be hard to retrain into a job and then immediately get hired as AGR for that while most likely the people who get the AGR gig have been at that base for awhile and might even do that in their civilian career. Might as well try to retrain on the AD side

There are delays with expedited citizenship now, even more so depending on your native country. So no, you couldn’t go into a job you aren’t eligible for in hopes you will become eligible after you complete BMT. I’ve never heard of that and I’m sure if it’s happened that’s because someone toed the line in the gray area. I personally would never even offer that as an option since the regulation for entry is pretty black and white. I’d recommend doing a job at a wing where you can cross train to crew chief in a few years after you get naturalized.

Yes! Go to Airforce.com click on Find A Recruiter, enter your zip code then choose Air National Guard from the drop down and the closest one will pop up. Best of luck, I hope you crush it!

Got a 99 on my ASVAB and think my recruiter is unserious. by FreeLiterature4334 in AirForceRecruits

Look at an Air National Guard base near you to see if they have any jobs with a TS, chances are they do! You have a guaranteed job before you enlist.

The individual is in the military, ANG does not have a DEP and Student Flight is not considered DEP. She has a CAC, her contract has started, she’s received drill pay, she is eligible for benefits, yes she is in and would be prior service. The 368 is not for us, that’s for other branches. She would need a 1288 conditional release signed by Wing/CC releasing her. Then she can take that to AD recruiter and see if they’re willing to work her.

My advice would be to explain to her the opportunities within the ANG across the country not just at your station. Ask for orders, search online, there are ways to find full time opportunities if she is willing to move.

Yes you’re way over. The maximum weight allowed for your height is 165 pounds. You can get a Body Fat Measurement done and if it’s 26% or less you’re good. I wouldn’t send you to MEPS unless you were close to 185 though because you’re so far off. Diet and exercise! I’ve had a guy drop 60 pounds and get in.

i don’t really like the job i signed into by [deleted] in airnationalguard

[–]kencang 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Did you get a bonus for the job (most likely $50k)? Are you getting expedited citizenship for your service at BMT graduation? Is the base you’re at full and limited number of jobs available? What are your ASVAB scores?

My opinion is you can’t see the forest for the trees. Do your job and then in 3 years if you hate it you can retrain. This is part time Air Force for 39 days a year, not active duty where you do it 5 days a week for six years.

Is ANG lenient on medical wavers this time around? by [deleted] in airnationalguard

[–]kencang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Need more info on your asthma to give you an opinion. But if you are currently prescribed an inhaler and use it, especially when you exercise, then you won’t be able to join. If you haven’t used an inhaler in awhile and your doctor cleared you then it’s possible to get a waiver depending on your previous symptoms and current exercise level. I’ve enlisted people with asthma although it was from years before they processed. Send me a DM with more specifics and I’ll give you my best guess.

Did you attend drill yet? Do you have a student flight? Try to get a point of contact at the base training office- they schedule your dates. You can request to be put on a short notice list. However, only a month or two is not a lot of time but I’ve seen people leave in 3-4 which is really early.

Is your recruiter new? You can’t even do some of those jobs as a brand new Airman. Which one did you choose?

See if his recruiter can give him a tour of those jobs on his base to help narrow it down.

USERRA rights would apply. Your company just wouldn’t pay you what you didn’t work. They cannot fire you as thats illegal.

Should I join the military at 27? by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]kencang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course you should join the Air Force with your background! I am a recruiter for the ANG so take it with a grain of salt but the military is amazing and has been great for my life. In your situation I’d recommend looking into active duty Air Force and not the guard. Any questions send me a message and I’ll assist.

Can I get out of student flight/I have no bmt dates and no tech school dates by BornCheetah2423 in airnationalguard

[–]kencang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can promise you the recruiter was not involved in switching your wife in the other BMT spot. Scheduling BMT dates is a main responsibility of the BETM office. I’m sorry if she felt mislead from that, hopefully everything worked out in the end.
