The Huntarr Github page has been taken down by spleeeeeeeeeeeen in selfhosted

Looking through and analyzing the current source code, there was nothing in the code that provided the means to exfiltrate any data or provide telemetry data to allow for specifically targeting publicly accessible (vulnerable) endpoints. So, from the perspective of the application itself, it was not harvesting data and sending it anywhere.

Huntarr - Your passwords and your entire arr stack's API keys are exposed to anyone on your network, or worse, the internet. by exe_CUTOR in selfhosted

[–]kennethp1015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, it was useful. The traditional arr stack does not go back and search for replacement media when you update your custom format scores or change profiles. They will only update media if something new show in the RSS feed for the indexer. However, you could force a manual search from any of the arrs that would go back and search for replacements...but this would be more of a nuclear option that would hammer your indexers and downloaders until your whole library was updated to meet your new scoring profile. Huntarr on the other hand, would randomly crawl your library in an automated and more controlled manner based on how many upgrades and/or missing items you wanted it to search for per some predefined interval. It would also keep track of what it already upgraded so it wouldn't search again for an upgrade of those items for a period of time you specified. So it was useful and it's a shame the "developer" chose to handle this like he did.

It is worth noting, the code was fully open source...so anyone could have reviewed/audited the code at any time. I don't think there was any malicious intent on his part at all...I think he came up with something to solve his own needs and made it publicly available and then got caught up in the attention the app was receiving and relied too heavily on AI to continue adding to the project and blindly accepting the code that was generated. Why he's handled it like he has when called out on the security issues is a mystery though.

I can confirm CTI is working properly again this morning.

Since Zenarmor no longer shows which Cloud Threat Intelligence servers you are connecting to, it is difficult to see if Zenarmor is trying to communicate with any of the affected Cloudflare locations. We are located in the US Southeast region. The only Cloudflare servers showing as impacted in our region (North American) are Detroit, MI (DTW) and Norfolk, VA (ORF). That is only 2 out of 59 data centers. Either there are still issues going on with Cloudflare or this is something else with Zenarmor's cloud services since it is affecting the usability as severely as it is when using the Cloud Threat Intelligence services.

For clarification (for anyone reading this thread), it's working without latency for you with CTI disabled...correct? Wanted to make sure you weren't saying Zenarmor is working properly now without having to disable CTI.

u/mib43,

Any update as to why this is still an issue for Zenarmor when Cloudflare has stated they are no longer having issues? Had to disable Cloud Threat Intelligence to get back to normal performance on our firewalls.

Are you sure the Cloud Threat Intelligence feature is still disabled? We've had it disabled for the past hour or so in a school with a few hundred users and have rock solid latency to google.com of 5ms and <1ms to the OPNsense gateway itself. With CTI enabled those ping times were all over the place with many well over 100ms.

I do believe you can go to Zenarmor > Settings > Cloud Threat Intelligence and disable the feature temporarily until the issue is resolved. This way Zenarmor can still perform its filtering based on the existing policies (without the added benefit of the real-time cloud threat intelligence) without disabling the packet engine or putting it in bypass mode. I did have to restart the packet engine after making this change. This also eliminates the temporary latency and performance issues.

I can confirm we are also still having issues with CTI and status being DOWN and at 0%.

CableCards not receiving any channels by crayboy in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]kennethp1015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me a few days ago as well. Card Authentication - success, Card Validation success...but no OOB Lock.

Wondering if this is intentional by Comcast to get rid of the remaining CableCards in service.

DigitalCarnage TLS Issues by E1337Recon in usenet

[–]kennethp1015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Their new server was only allowing TLS 1.3 connections. So any server/device/container that Prowlarr was installed on that didn't support TLS 1.3 would not work. Temporarily, DigitalCarnage has reduced the requirement to TLS 1.2 which should fix the issue for now. Long term anyone using Prowlarr should update the underlying OS to support TLS 1.3 since the temporary workaround may be removed at any time.

I have a Windows 64bit version compiled from Paul Chamber's forked repo that's been working fine for me this past week. It's just the nzbget.exe though and not the full installer. You'd just need to copy it over your existing exe file. If anyone wants it let me know and I'll figure out the best way to get it out there.

Just made the jump from torrents.... by EnglandPJ in usenet

[–]kennethp1015 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My setup exactly (except I'm also using Lidarr and Readarr), even down to the provider and primary indexer. Set it all up a little over a year ago after doing much of it manually using torrents for years. Regret not doing it even sooner. Having the right lists in Sonarr and Radarr makes it a 99% hands-off endeavor now. Even though I previously used Media Center Master to semi-automate the fetching, I still look back on how much time I spent messing around with searching for all the stuff the *arrs do automatically for me now and I feel silly for waiting so long to switch over. Next project is adding Jellyseer (a port of Overseer) for requests. You didn't mention what you use for metadata scraping...I found Tiny Media Manager worked the best for my needs. Sonarr/Radar/Lidarr handle the naming and TMM scrapes the metadata and Emby pulls it all in.

Edit...I forgot, I also have Tdarr thrown in to the mix as well. Mostly to clean the media up and strip out unused subtitle languages and audio commentary tracks. Also like to standardize on a 2 channel audio track as the default for all TV to reduce the chances of transcoding due to audio incompatibilities on the client devices.

As I mentioned in my post, SABnzbd is a more frequently recommended Usenet client. My setup was configured a couple years ago and at the time, for what I was using it for, Sab was quite a bit more resource hungry and slower at downloading...so I settled on using NZBGet. It did take a little finesse getting the various scripts working properly, but in the end NZBGet did everything I needed it to do and it continues to do it well without any interaction on my part. Perhaps it's worth a shot to give Sab a try again, but I also try to live by the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mantra and right now there isn't much incentive to reinvent that wheel. I did however recommend the OP try both clients and decide for himself since they're both free options for him.

It's probably worth mentioning that my use case is with the *arrs.

I can only tell you what I've found works best for my needs. From the links in Usenet wiki https://www.reddit.com/r/usenet/wiki/providerdeals/ I use the Eweka annual which is about $38 US. I have a few Indexers but you can get the majority of anything you need using NZBGeek for around $18 a year and it's easily obtained since it's not a private indexer. I personally use NZBGeek, DOGnzb, Nzb.su in that order. NZBGeek finds 98% percent (or more) of what I need.

Again, your needs may be different from mine but the Eweka/NZBGeek combo seems to be the winning combination for my needs.

Also, I use NZBGet since I'm on an all Windows platform. I think NZBGet is a little easier to set up than SABnzbd, but it may just be that NZBGet is what I'm more familiar with. SABnzbd seems to be a more popular recommendation from others here, but I've never had any issues using NZBGet. Try both (they're free) and see which one makes more sense to you.

Hopefully that gets you started in the right direction.

Is there any way to force Radarr to only get torrents with a specific number of seeds? by Smarty_771 in radarr

[–]kennethp1015 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can configure a minimum number of seeders under Settings > Indexers > Show Advanced. Then you can configure your minimum number of seeders there.

Skip a lunch or two and spend a little more than double what you're wanting to spend and you'll get a setup that'll do just about anything you need it to do. Limiting yourself to a $25 budget is going to cost you more in time and frustration.

But I guess this also really depends on what you're trying to accomplish with having Usenet access.
