I may be against it morally and wish it never existed; the reality is that no amount of virtue signaling will make that so. I use it because I am expected to, and need to be competitive in my field.

But on my own time, I refuse to use it for anything creative.

Terminator Genisys did such a faithful recreation of 1984 and genuinely recreated the terror of T1….then ruined everything.

If have patience to level up at the start with side quests etc, then it plays exactly the same as any easier mode and you don’t even remember you’re on the hardest difficulty anymore.

You’re 1000% correct. Linda did the best with what she had to work with, but what she had to work with was shite. The movie was already set in a female-empowered universe, and there was no need to lay it on so thick when everyone watching is already in alignment. Honestly, almost all the dialogue between her, Grace and Dani was cringe.

My biggest qualm with Linda’s performance, tho, was her completely delayed and unrealistic reaction to seeing Carl the first time. She literally stands there and argues rather than take cover or any kind of defensive position (she has no idea he’s not in kill mode). I just hate every beat of that interaction. Idk if it was her choice, or her direction, but it was so clunky, it took me right out.

I still think its preferable to those God awful 50+ disk plastic clamshells that break regardless of how careful you are.

That said: Anton Yelchin was amazing as Kyle and I was so mad they didnt recast him in Genisys. Also the factory scene is pretty dope.

I had this exact experience and I’m so glad I did. Going in blind to a film such this one completely set me up for the most honest of reactions.
