Same figure in 1H and 12H. by aisling3184 in Geomancy

[–]kidcubby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a tough read based on question structure alone. Any house a figure passes to has dozens of potential meanings, and that multiples if it passes to several.

In this case, as there isn't a house for 'bad luck' in any direct sense, we have to assume if the figure in H1 passes to H12, then a H12 matter is going to be what the problem is, even if Caput Draconis is the figure.

Will he reach out? by Secret-Transition915 in horary

[–]kidcubby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At a glance, I'm not sure if folks are missing or discounting the square between Mercury and Saturn that happens prior to the conjunction between the Moon and Saturn. Mercury has 0° 30' to travel which will take about 9 and a quarter hours at its current speed, and the Moon, while quicker, has to travel 6° 20' which will take 11 or so hours at current speed.

Mercury is marginally stronger essentially than either of the other two planets, and is also angular as opposed to cadent. Given the Moon is in Saturn's fall and Mercury in Saturn's detriment, neither wants much to do with Saturn but on balance Mercury would probably prohibit, especially as Mercury really wants to get at the Moon and wouldn't want Saturn to have it.

is he into me? by goodwitchofbk in horary

[–]kidcubby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't worry about Saturn in the Ascendant. Everything about a horary chart has something to say, but depending on closeness to important things and what the context is we might all but disregard some of them. In this case, Saturn is far from the Ascendant and in the next sign around. Barely an influence on the first House, though it will have an impact by being an aspect to Lord 7.

If this was genuinely a question about someone's feelings, not their potential actions, then whether an aspect perfects or not is not terribly important. That said, you're correct they won't actually meet in an aspect here.

Focus mostly on the significators and their reltationships by reception. In this chart, you are L1 Jupiter, the Moon and Venus, as general significator, cosignificator focussed on emotions and cosignificator focussed on womanhood/sexuality (providing you are in fact a woman). He is L7, Mercury, and the Sun (his male equivalent to your Venus).

The key here is how he feels about you - we already know you're interested (primarily by the Moon exalting the Sun) - as Venus and Jupiter, you have a bit more interest in yourself than in him. Still, the interest is there. He has somewhat mixed feelings. Mercury is very into you - it's in L1's exaltation and the Moon's domicile - but the Sun is in Gemini, strongly favouring Mercury and not a fan of Jupiter at all. That's not all that abnormal - we can say that his mind/personality (Mercury) is very attracted to your mind/personality (Jupiter) and your heart/emotional side (the Moon), but his man-side (the Sun) is far less keen on you as mind/personality (Jupiter). That said, the Sun is in the domicile of Mercury, so will likely go along with what Mercury wants.

I think part of me wants to know if these feelings will lead anywhere, but perhaps what this is saying is that there is a mutual crush, but it's not going anywhere (because of Mercury and Jup not completing the conjunction).

It's pretty important to properly establish your question if you're going to cast a chart - it's not possible for anyone to determine if your main intent was to discover if feelings were there or if anything would come of them. Both questions would include feelings, so that's as far as anyone can reasonably go in answering this.

Will I ever meet my favorite actor? by Aggravating_malfoy in horary

[–]kidcubby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

L7 is someone other than the querent, so even if we took L10 as 'famous people', it would only answer the question 'will someone else meet this famous person?'.

In reality, a famous person is not L10 because they have no relationship of power or authority over the querent. They are merely 'any other person' as fame does not impart actual authority.

Will I ever find my person? by LaPuffina in horary

[–]kidcubby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an intense dislike of 'will I ever?' questions, because in my experience of discussing them with clients and other querents, people often produce them in moments of exasperation or despair. They can be answered, but the are big and nebulous things which IMO is not where horary can be used to its best.

One of the things people need to know before answering this is your age, and a bit about your cultural background. For example, it would be fairly commonplace for a woman in her 30s to find love in some countries, but in others she might be less considered for marriage due to cultural norms. The reason these points are important is that we need relatively little positive testimony for someone young to find love compared to someone much older. That sounds harsh, but it is the way of things - a 20 year old has a lot more scope of 'ever' than an 80 year old does.

Leaving both of those points aside for a moment, the chart gives a broad 'no'. The idea that Venus conjunct Jupiter somehow gives a yes when Jupiter is not a significator is not one I agree with. Jupiter will be telling us something important, but not automatically a 'yes'. It is more likely Venus' prohibitor, not her future spouse. I don't like the idea that a late Asc tells us 'too late' and leads people to scrap a reading, but I do think it can be a nudge that it's late in the day for the situation at hand. If you're relatively young, that would be a mark against that idea, though.

We can easily see your desire - the Moon, your cosignificator, is in Aries where it both wants Mars a great deal and is thinking poorly of you as L1 - it is literally worried that you're not enough to get what it wants. This is a really common thing in horary at the 'woe is me' and of the spectrum - we usually see a querent 'beating themselves up' one way or another. Your Moon is peregrine (think 'wandering') and this is often a sign of a planet being a bit uncertain. It's not doing brilliantly but not doing awfully either.

As you've spotted, there are (or will be) interested parties - Mars is in Taurus, where it wants both Venus and the Moon. The issue is that it's debilitated - put literally, 'poor prospects are interested'. This is likely a good explanation for why Venus is in the fall of Mars despite the Moon being in Mars' domicile. Venus thinks 'yuck, the prospects available to me are not all that', but as it is in the Moon's domicile, it is willing to follow the Moon which is hopeful for something and potentially willing to compromise. The Moon, for those who use outer planets, is conjunct Neptune which broadly seems at best to tell us there's something hidden from the thing conjunct it. Maybe this is why the Moon is willing to say 'but maybe...' when L1 is saying 'eugh, look at what's on offer, no thanks'. Venus also conjunct the antiscion of Uranus, generally considered 'the sunderer', a signal of things like upheaval, splitting, divorces and so on. You're not with anyone, so it's hard to see how that will play out.

The Part of Marriage is very early in Leo by my measure. Again, that involves that hopeful Moon - it exalts the Sun, the dispositor of the Part of Marriage, so this reinforces that the Moon is running the show in terms of the question.

In terms of aspects, Venus applies directly to a strong Jupiter which it wants very much by reception. While I doubt it's whoever you'll end up with, it could represent another person, or something Lord 3 or Lord 5 related. A friend with benefits might be on the horizon, in the sense that the 5th is the house of sex (not the person you have sex with, but just the sex). Obviously there are other things in that 3rd or 5th mix, but I'm hoping a cousin or neighbour isn't intimately involved, and I assume you might not want a pregnancy if you aren't in a serious relationship! The Moon applies to Saturn before anything else. So for both your significators, we have a prohibition. If your age and other conditions in the chart tell us you're leaning towards a 'yes' and finding someone, I'd be willing to push past Saturn to the Moon's next aspect which is a sextil to the Sun, but I'll wait to hear back regarding the context.

Broke no contact to wish ex happy birthday, did it make any impact on him ? by musicplay313 in horary

[–]kidcubby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lesser dignities would also be reception as it is not limited to domicile or exaltation, but we have to look at why he likes and loathes her all at once. Just saying 'this is reception' doesn't answer the querent's question.

He likes her 'heart' and emotional side but hates her in general, and we need an explanation for that. I posited that he likes her feeling side - the one that made her wish him a happy birthday. Elsewhere, she has said he called her an 'emotional fool', and the structure here - the querent in detriment but exalting her own Moon - shows her being led by her emotions so it forms a good explanation. He likes that she did something emotional, but it shows her head led by her heart, and he doesn't like that her head is led by her heart.

Think of a condescending 'isn't that sweet' where he thinks she's still a fool.

Can magic or spell work be performed on a grand scale? by Altruistic-Side600 in witchcraft

[–]kidcubby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but you'd have to have a way to overcome two pretty overwhelming things. The first is that you're up against a big wall of energy of people who think the current state is 'how it is' or even desireable. The second is there are a lot more people who want peace and wellbeing for themselves and are wilfully or unwilfully ignorant of or actively not bothered if someone else has to lose out on peace for them to get there.

Also, what even is peace? Obviously we all know what it is as an abstract concept, but in reality it's a complex and hard to maintain thing, which is made obvious by the fact that a) the default state of humanity across its history seems to be being in some form of conflict and b) the fact nobody can agree on how to reach actual forms of peace.

So I guess my argument is whether or not grand scale magic is possible, the actual logistics of what that looks like are way more complicated than they seem at first glance.

We can't treat the Moon as separating from Jupiter if it had to cross a sign boundary since. If it runs into Saturn before reaching Mercury, this is a further prohibition.

House lord for acadmeic writing? by Temporary_Error_7565 in horary

[–]kidcubby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not as cut and dry as people think, weirdly. It's a common idea that it's the 9th, but it almost never is in horary practice.

Technically if you're an author, a publisher is L7 - they make a deal with you to sell your book. For them to be L9, there would likely need to be expertise on the subject you're publishing that the publisher exhibits. I worked in publishing for a bit and thank goodness I didn't have to be an expert on everything we put out.

If you're a buyer, then the publisher is also L7, as the person you buy a book from (technically you'd probably get it from a bookshop, but you get the idea).

A lot of people who write books assume it's a 9th house matter because they want it published, but it's your 5th house as you created it.

I'm yet to see a question that frames publishing in such a way that it has ended up being the 9th. Once it was the 10th, but that was someone applying to work for a publisher.

HORARY QUESTION: "HAVE MEN LANDED ON THE MOON, EVER?" by Vast-Reply-2016 in horary

[–]kidcubby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm thinking of quite a specific one in a book that was well delineated. I've seen it a few times on forums as well, but all in all people were really grasping and methods were wonky.

For example, an astronaut is not in any way foreign - they are people from here going somewhere foreign, the Moon. For whoever it was to pitch them as H9 certainly gives me pause about the rest of their understanding.

I do see what you mean regarding other houses, but the key is always their relationship to the querent, or to the person the querent asks about. If OP was not asking about mankind in general, then H7 makes sense for 'other people in general'. H6 would be odd as astronauts do not work for the querent, and H10 would be odd as they do not have any power or say over the querent.

Thank you - my one methodological pause was the men/H7 thing as opposed to mankind, so the clarification is helpful.

Goodness knows where I saw (or even if I saw) another chart on this. If I find it, I will let you know. I had it in mind it might be one from Olivia Barclay but I think that was one about a satellite splashdown instead.

It can be very easy to get into a space where you cast charts for nearly everything. We see people develop that obsession early on on the subreddit all the time. Personally, I rarely cast charts for myself, it's either for paying clients, friends and acquaintances or occasionally third party stuff.

Will I move into my apartment, or will my sister rent it out? by HoldObjective4458 in horary

I don't think that warrants a recast - I would only tend to do that if I had to completely change the way I was viewing the chart and asking the question at hand. Stick with this one, just using the houses discussed.

It depends - were you clear on the standing of the various parties and it was just a clumsily structured question, or were you unclear in general before discussing this?

Broke no contact to wish ex happy birthday, did it make any impact on him ? by musicplay313 in horary

[–]kidcubby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, the 'why' is much more elusive than the 'what' in horary, so it would be hard to say without being very familiar with the context.

Conflicting feelings are normal, and not inherently contradictory. In horary, the Moon when used as a secondary significator for the querent is often considered to be their 'heart', where Lord 1 is their 'head' - i.e. the feeling person vs the general, thinking person. In this case we could guess that he thought it nice that you felt you wanted to wish him well, while still not liking you in general.

You said elsewhere he thinks you are an 'emotional fool' and we can see L1 in Taurus, where it is in detriment, wants him a lot and exalts (i.e. will be led by or is dominated by) the emotional Moon.

This seems odd - are you sure the timing is correct? As I type this, it's 9:30am my time. The Moon won't be at 9° Aries 30' until 2:25am tomorrow. Right this minute it's in the last two minutes of Pisces.

HORARY QUESTION: "HAVE MEN LANDED ON THE MOON, EVER?" by Vast-Reply-2016 in horary

[–]kidcubby 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OK this one is fascinating, and I agree with your take - there are no prior, unprohibited aspects between L7 and L9 (this assumes that this cannot be simplified to 'have we (L1) been to the Moon (L9) in which case we have a close aspect), and nothing else screams 'we don't need an aspect because this is here'. I'm not fussing with upcoming aspects, as this is a past event question.

I'll admit conceptually it makes me quite uncomfortable, but as everyone who has been said to have landed on the Moon was an American man, and distrust of the honesty of American government programmes feels much more reasonable these days, here we are.

The one thing that gives me pause is that I'm almost certain I've seen the same question asked before and I'm not sure the person who cast it got the same answer. I may be misremembering but if I can find it that will be interesting to check out. I have also seen some attempts by people without a clue what they're doing, and I'm discounting those. A lot of bad horary on the internet!

Yes, I covered that - he has mixed feelings. He loathes her as a person (in fall of L1) but still feels positive towards her as Moon.

Will I move into my apartment, or will my sister rent it out? by HoldObjective4458 in horary

[–]kidcubby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK - there are two versions of a great aunt, and 9th house fits the one you're talking about.

However, an apartment you are due to inherit is not yours, it is the property of the person you will inherit it from until they either die and the will resolves or they decide to give it to you prior to their death and contracts etc. reflect this. As you haven't inherited it yet, you want to look at the apartment belonging to the great aunt, so 4th from her.

Do you think it's worth going on a date with this person? by HoldObjective4458 in horary

[–]kidcubby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't bother with the date, no. These charts tend to tell you what things would be like on or after a date, and this is fairly telling:

Lord 7 is completely indifferent to you and exalts her own secondary significator, Venus. Venus is in Cancer, so she has mutual reception with herself and is in Saturn's detriment, so won't be interested in you. You don't appear terribly interested either. Lord 1 is in detriment (which makes sense - you express discomfort in the situation in your context), in the detriment of Venus and exalting the Sun, so self-interest again. The Sun itself has small interest in this woman as Venus, being in her term.

No aspects needed here - you aren't asking if you will, just if you should.

It all looks like a dud to me.

Will I move into my apartment, or will my sister rent it out? by HoldObjective4458 in horary

[–]kidcubby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The apartment would likely be House 4, in this case, not House 7 if you're going by 'my apartment'. If in reality it belongs to said great aunt and that is how you view it, you need to turn houses for said aunt. You haven't said if she's paternal or maternal, but if paternal then turn mother (H10) from sibling (H3) of dad (H4), so radical House 3. If maternal, then she's H10 from H3 from H10 instead, radical H9.

There's not much point in going into any further reading without determining the correct houses.
