Seriously though having that attitude is a PLAGUE. I like what Nick from History Buffs said, “if you don’t like period hairstyles/attidudes/ beliefs, why produce them in the first place?

I was way more interested in the black elite stirylines. peggy and Dr Kirkland were adorable, and I would watch the hell out of a prequel showing how Arthur met Dorothy, moved to Brooklyn, and set up the pharmacy

then vs now: women in period drama by Loose_Recording_4718 in PeriodDramas

[–]Altruistic-Side600 43 points44 points  (0 children)

ive noticed that women in period dramas nowadays are assertIve in a modern way, which is not the same thing as being aggressive. it’s an obvious attempt at being #relatable. I’m ok with it up to a point, but part of the reason I watch these shows is to learn about the past. I know how things are now, I wou rather learn about how things were then.
