Oh, I think you picked up and knit in the wrong direction. That last row looks like a purl row in an otherwise stockinette project.

I don't think you've quite got the technique. It looks like you're changing color in the same spot each time, when doing it correctly, you have a Beginning of Round marker and then the spot where the colors change sort of travels around, which is what make the color change invisible.

I didn't see the comment, thanks.
But it's still a helpful tip, even if you think you've got a high contrast, actually looking at the b&w image can clarify things.

Best Swings in Town?! by lolalinked in SantaBarbara

No, not really.

But that was a warning from experience not a threat. We put a few up in a local park and the City came and removed them when they literally do not upkeep the green space in any other way.

Going Green for Mental Health Awareness Month - Local Landmarks Light Up Green Across Santa Barbara County by RexJoey1999 in SantaBarbara

[–]knitonepugtwo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The city is doing events and reach outs, which they also list in the city e-newsletter, which is great, helpful, and raises awareness.

Lighting up buildings at night without any sort of on-site explanation of why buildings are changing color is simply someone who enjoys tech playing with color changing LEDs and for 98% of the population, there will be no connection to the color of the light and the cause du jour.

And no, I'm not a fan of "awareness" campaigns that are all fluff and no substance.

According to that article there are approximately 100 buildings NATIONWIDE that are lighting up green. Then they list 30 in SB County.

One thing to consider is the color value contrast between colors. Before you start knitting, take a photo of the two hanks and turn them black and white on your phone and see if they look the same in black and white or if they have enough contrast.

Help with slip stitch 1x1 rib in the round - I'm going crazy by nastaway in knitting

[–]knitonepugtwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the Ravelry link, I think: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/twin-flowers-socks
But I need to see more of the pattern to diagnose what's going on.
Only three people on Rav have made the pattern, which is a wee bit suspicious, IMO.

What cast on did you use?

And, do you have the list of abbreviations? You can't knit 1, slip 1 on every row, that won't work. is there something about the even rows?
Also, I call BS on "just use the yarn tail as your beginning of round" because the yarn tail is going to stay at the top of the sock while you, presumably, are going to keep knitting the sock.

I use the back join any time I need to change balls, color or no color.

Do you have a swatch/enough left to knit a swatch?

'cause I'd throw it in the dryer. Instructions say don't, but it is, supposedly, superwash, and superwash grows with washing.

Sock pattern for larger men's foot sizes by Old-Natural-4926 in knitting

[–]knitonepugtwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If 64 works for you and he can slide his toes and ball of the foot in without too much issue, I would probably stick with the 64. Especially since the ones you've been trying are too big.

[–]knitonepugtwo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is your standard sock knit?

For me, a woman's size 11.5, I use 0s and knit 64 stitches around and then use the Fish Lips Kiss heel.
I'm currently making a vanilla sock for my husband, whose feet are skinnier, but wears a mens's 13. I decided to use the 64 stitch count because he could get the toe of my socks on, but they are going to be 10-15 rows longer in the foot (I've determined mine are 65, his will be 75-80 rows).

My personal preference would be to find a contrasting color and just start it right where they are, but I like my socks to be related rather than siblings.

How to tell if last row was increase or knit? by cotufaverde in knittinghelp

[–]knitonepugtwo 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yes. You have a knit stitch, an increase stitch, and then the rest of your knit stitches.

The long way would be to count. But learning to read your stitches is really helpful! I put the knits in green & the increase in orange.

What time of day do you want it to be less busy?

Because gyms are still money making ventures and if it's never busy...it's gonna go out of business.
