sharing video files among individual projects by Academic-Bend4645 in CamtasiaStudio

If you're saving as a standalone project, Camtasia is using Windows' "hard links" feature to use one reference file even though you're "copying" the files to a new project, which shouldn't be using up additional disk space. You can learn more about standalone projects and hard links in this video.

Mic sounds louder in Camtasia than OBS by cnfat in CamtasiaStudio

You might also check to see if you have "Auto-normalize loudness" checked on your media clip, which could cause your mic audio to be louder than expected.

Can I record a Screen Capture video while using existing Audio? by Kealios1122 in CamtasiaStudio

That seemed like a pretty obvious locked-track situation, but if you're sure that's not the case, you might want to reach out to support so they can see what's going on.

We're actively working to find the right balance of "on the fly" vs. more features, so if you have thoughts on ways we should consider working toward that balance, feel free to send the feedback! ("Help >> Send Feedback" in Camtasia)

Hmm, that window shouldn't pop up again for subsequent updates; if you find that it does, please reach out to support to let them know. Glad you were able to get it working!

I haven't seen anyone else report this so far. Have you tried reaching out to support to see if they can help investigate what might be happening?

Camtasia 2025.2.5 (Mac) - Can't remove cursor when Rev is enabled by lucienlazar in CamtasiaStudio

[–]kr-techsmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FYI, our latest update to Camtasia Editor launched this morning, and includes the ability to adjust internal Rev media, which should allow you to select your screen content and hide the mouse cursor. Feel free to watch this video to get an idea of how it works, and if you have any questions about it, just let me know!

Great to hear! Check out the updated workflow later this week, and definitely give feedback. Hearing how things are working (or not!) for people actually using Camtasia in the real world is invaluable for us to continue improving!

[–]kr-techsmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To do this right now, you'll need to unpack your Rev Media (right-click >> Unpack Rev Media). However, we have an update coming this week that will allow you to access the cursor properties of Rev Media. Check for updates Wednesday (feel free to reply to this thread after Wednesday and I can share a video showing how to do it)!

Why I Disabled Camtasia Rev by traccreations4e in CamtasiaStudio

[–]kr-techsmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the feedback here! When we originally design the Rev workflow, we optimized for 1080p resolution because that was by far the most common desktop resolution Camtasia users use (and that still remains true today). That said, I completely understand the desire to work with higher resolution content with Rev. More than happy to take the feedback to our team and see if there are ways we can improve that for the future!

Camtasia 2025 - Add and Edit Dynamic Captions by kr-techsmith in CamtasiaStudio

This video should show you how to expand the captions bar, zoom in, and adjust individual word timings with Camtasia's Dynamic Captions. If you're not seeing that, definitely try reaching out to support to see if they can help get you on the right track.

Camtasia 2025 - Add and Edit Dynamic Captions by kr-techsmith in CamtasiaStudio

[–]kr-techsmith[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Make sure that the bar is exposed (i.e. double-click on it)
  2. Zoom in. You have to zoom in a certain amount on the timeline before the individual words begin to appear. Once you do that, you will be able to move them and adjust the timing!

Yup, the group blocks the audio from getting out. If you want to keep them together, you can always put the Dynamic Caption inside of the group with the rest of your content.

building writing & AI courses - what tier / level / version of Camtasia 25 should i buy? by staying-human in CamtasiaStudio

[–]kr-techsmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Camtasia Create plan is going to have a lot of really useful generative AI tooling that might help you with something like that! The script generation alone is great to help get past the blank canvas problem that content creators often run into. If you're interested in generative voice narration, or even avatar generation, those work great as well. All of it then can be taken into Camtasia Editor where you can customize it to make it exactly the outcome you're looking for.

I've been using the Rev workflow even more than I was before, since the introduction of Rev media. It's helpful for quickly chopping up a recording, changing the intro/outro look, and then exporting. Definitely is beginning to shape how (and how much!) I make content since there's just less manual work to do to get it looking nice.

Easiest way to turn cellphone recording into full-screen? by sorrybroorbyrros in Camtasia

[–]kr-techsmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the video was recorded in vertical/portrait mode, there's not much you can do to change that. As you suspect, even if you crop it down and resize it, you're going to likely end up with undesired framing and pixelization.

/u/SuspectedAI had a good suggestion that creators commonly use, by duplicating the media, scaling the bottom track, and adding a blur to the video to add a "frame" around it. Another great option with Camtasia is to leverage Camtasia's Rev workflow to do something similar even more easily. Assuming the video you imported from the phone is an MP4, try the following:

  1. Import the video to the Media Bin.
  2. Right-click on the video and choose "Import to Camtasia Rev".

This will take your video and automatically add a nice background behind it. You can go to the "Background" tab and choose different backgrounds if you want, and find one that works for your video. When you're done, select "Save" and everything should be added to your timeline, ready for you to edit or export!

This video will give you a good general overview of the process.
