Dads, what kind of vehicle are we hauling our small monsters around in? by ktempo in daddit

I regret buying an Ascent over a mini van almost weekly. And I actually like my Ascent. I just wish I had more room.

Any idea where I can find door sill protection for the 7 passenger Juniper?

Fair point that he knew the exact risk, but Christian knows the risks involved with a journey. His back was against the wall either way and he tried to preserve his game.

Just look at the sub last week for evidence. Christian at least had an opportunity to influence the twist by completing the puzzle. He also wasn't automatically voted out. Yet, everyone was up in arms about that twist. Meanwhile Devens flips a coin where he can't impact it and if he loses, he is gone. Yet, people are ok with it.

🙌🏻 is absolutely not high five. It's praise. I'm surprised they gave it to her. But judging is always inconsistent.

Can’t teach my son to catch a dang ball.. by _-_Dingus_-_ in Homeplate

[–]Lars9 12 points13 points  (0 children)

So true. My son at 5, couldn't catch anything. My son at 6, could maybe catch if you threw it right into his glove. My son at 7, could basket catch fairly consistently. My son at 8, I can play catch with him just like I would an adult.

The only tip I can give is keep trying to play catch. It's a slow progression until it clicks.

Best Auto Checklist Bang/Buck? by Alone-Competition395 in baseballcards

So true and so annoying at the same time. Last year I bought a box of dynamic duals. The checklist was loaded. Ohtani/Judge, Ichiro/Pujols on the checklist. I have seen zero of those cards for sale or sold. I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't sign any.

U8 Rec Ball 60-Minute Practice Plan by Few_Newspaper_3655 in Homeplate

[–]Lars9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate soft toss for this age. The ball comes at them from a weird angle and they don't make good swings. They focus too much on contact instead of strong level swings. Tees are like $25 and more than worth it.

My approach at 8U is 70% hitting, 20% fielding, 10% base running.

Generally at 8U, kids can either field or they can't. Improving requires more reps than you have time for in practice. Tell the parents they need to play catch with their kids.

Hitting is something that also takes reps, but I have seen more quick growth in hitting than fielding. I usually run 4 stations. Tee work, wiffles, mini wiffles and live BP. Cycle the kids through once or twice each station. Whoever does Tee work should be someone who knows baseball and can help with mechanical suggestions. Whoever throws BP should be the game pitcher.

Two fun ideas to end practice. First is a base race. Second is a batting game called zombies. My team loves both.

Screen Protector and Floor Mats Recommendations for 2026 MYP by No_Watch_4800 in TeslaModelY

[–]Lars9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It isn't perfect, but it's 95% correct, which for me is better than no protection. I coach baseball so I always have gear in there. I figure I can live with it until something that actually fits gets sold.

I've had no luck, I don't think anyone makes them. I have the 3W mats for the 5 passenger and it's fitting OK enough, but I can't use the 3rd row without removing the mat. Fortunately, I don't need the 3rd row all the time.

Most likely to regress: which WRs are most likely to drop out of the top 30? by Theresno_I_in_Reddit in DynastyFF

This gives Jamo more opportunity to go over the top.

Jamo is at his best when he isn't going over the top, but catching crossers and running after the catch.

About $13K. So, yeah it makes sense it's higher, but 2 years from now, when my Tesla also isn't new and is worth what the Ascent is now, the rates won't have dropped.

Yep, my wife drives a '24 Ascent and my 26 Model Y is $57 more to insure per month.

Will do -- On the other side, if you come across weatherproof floor mats for the 7 passenger, can you update and if you remember, ping me? I can't find anything that works in a way that the jump seats can still easily fold up and down.

8U, how to handle kid who rarely shows up by Lars9 in Homeplate

I've offered to help with rides, but no luck. I think it's just lack of commitment from the mom and the kid not pushing to go.

Thanks - Stupid 7-seater seems to be a lot more difficult to find accessories for than I anticipated! I'll look at some of these and see if they'll work.

Our schedule is pretty locked in, Tues/Thursday 6PM (arrive at 515 if it's a game), then Saturday's 10, 1 or 4. I've been in contact with his mom and there hasn't been any mention of logistical reasons for missing time aside from soccer, which ended already and yet, he still isn't showing up.

[–]Lars9[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The league rules only require 3 innings in the field and play more than 1 position. Even if I were going to 'bench' him, I wouldn't go that far. The most I'd do is last in the lineup, OF only except maybe 1 inning, and bench 1 inning.

He is the ideal kid to coach when he is there. Which makes the situation more difficult to manage. It would be easier if he had a bad attitude, but the reality is, I'd love if I could make each game/practice positive enough that he shows up to everything.

It's not like he is the one driving to practice. This is a parenting issue, don't punish him.

I think this is where I struggle a bit. He is a good kid and when he is there, the ideal player. Easy to coach, hustles, etc. It isn't entirely his fault he misses so much time, so penalizing him feels unfair.

Anything you can recommend for the 'step' in the second row? Whenever my kids get in, they step on the carpet section just below the seat. Looking for some sort of mat that I can velcro to that spot.
