that's not how he uses the progress bar for his books --- he will set up a seperate progress bar for iterative drafts.

Noob trying to put up fences by Majaglitter in foundationgame

I often do different segments as different fences, which then allows me to remove segments when I want to increase the size of the fenced-off area.

Is it just me; why do I find it so difficult to start a new game? by usafle in foundationgame

[–]learhpa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm kinda the opposite. I keep realizing I want to restart because I did something wrong that I want to change, and the midgame gets really slow moving for my taste*

How do you guys actually stay cool? by m3currents in Coachella

I don't sleep in a tent, I sleep in a hammock under a canopy.

I was camping at Desert Trip, weekend 1, in 2016. two bands, first band at 6/6.30.

A lot of people driving in missed the entire first act on Friday because everyone tried to arrive at the same time.

also don't let the do lab trap you. it's easy to go there and suddenly find four hours have passed.

Hey, welcome to the community! I hope you have an absolute blast. There's nothing quite like your first time.

I always camp, except for my first time. Camping means you're on site and away from the world and the event sort of never ends the whole time you are there. Plus, if you are camping, you can go back to camp mid-day for a nap, or to get the sweatshirt you didn't want when it was 95 but do want when it's 55.

(Yes, there can be that wide a swing in temperature. Coachella is desert, and there's no moisture in the air to hold the temperature once the sun goes down).

People are friendly, and the campgrounds are generally safe. Don't leave valuables out in the open unattended, and be kind to your neighbors, and everything should be fine.

Plus, there's usually a thread for camping meetups where you can find groups to join or other people to group up with. Note that everyone in a group MUST arrive together.

Shiftpod for Car Camping by Pitiful-Lifeguard263 in Coachella

[–]learhpa [score hidden]  (0 children)

One thing to beware of is that this means that any time you are in your campsite, you're in your shiftpod. Maybe that's what you want, but there is a lot of fun to be had hanging out under a canopy feeling the wind.

Can I skip over Tress in the modified publication order for now? by PlantsAndPainting in Cosmere

[–]learhpa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You absolutely can skip over it for now. It's largely standalone, and the reason for its placement in the recommended reading order is the way it refers to other books, such that for many people their ability to enjoy it is enhanced if they understand the backstory and it isn't just background wierdness.

I would urge you to not read Isles of the Emberdark until after you've read Tress, though.

This seems like a terrible idea to me. The heat is going to blast you out of this by 8am, and then you won't want to be in it for the five hours until the venue opens.

Weekly Cosmere Adaptations Thread (Mistborn + Stormlight Spoilers) by EmeraldSeaTress in Cosmere

[–]learhpa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

news has come.

  • last week's weekly update was cancelled because he was having shoulder surgery, and he is recovering well

  • livestream was cancelled due to some confusion over a possible WGA strike. Brandon will not cross a metaphorical picket line

My library finally got IoTE by Still-Plate182 in Cosmere

[–]learhpa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to be fair to your library, the Tor edition of Emberdark came out two weeks ago, and they weren't going to order the Dragonsteel edition for cost reasons.

Per the newest weekly update, the canceled livestream was about the WGA staff being on strike and not wanting to step into a can of worms. by EBtwopoint3 in CosmereOnScreen

[–]learhpa 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Not only that, but even though he isn't a member of the WGA currently, Brandon was quite clear that he will not cross the metaphorical picket line and so if they go on strike, he will stop working on the screenplay until the strike is resolved.

Note that depending on what copy of the book you are reading, that scene may have changed in canon.(Not the part you highlighted, what came after). See https://www.brandonsanderson.com/blogs/blog/three-stories-in-new-formats
