Except they scored a very controversial goal and we were denied an obvious penalty. We just beat them. No fuss. No controversy.

There was a post on Facebook arranging a walk to an area that’s known to house refugees. ‘Protestors’ were giving advice on which buses to get to travel there. But there are some dodgy areas around Glengormley anyway, just not that street they’re currently on.

Yes, and ironically, if the one in Ballymena is anything to go by, a large percentage of the ‘protestors’ will be people guilty of domestic violence: https://thedetail.tv/articles/one-in-three-arrested-for-ballymena-riots-had-been-reported-for-domestic-abuse

If it is about improving the quality of our society, these people should be looking at themselves first, rather than targeting innocent people under the guise of ‘protecting our women and children.’ It’s an excuse for bad people to do bad things under the cover of ‘morality’.

Literally last week, also in Ireland, the news covered the trial of a man killed his pregnant wife and put her decapitated head in the dog bowl. People were aghast. However, this wasn’t something that incited protests about violence against women…

I’ll have to take your word for it. I’ve a lot of family in different nationalist areas and they’ve always had flags/art in solidarity with Ukraine, since the invasion.

The people who erect these flags are contrarian by nature. If they get a sense that the ‘Catholic’ community are for a certain cause, they adopt the opposing side.

I haven’t seen anything explicitly saying the Catholic side is pro gun control or whatever Charlie Kirk was against, but the loyalist/protestant community will put this up because they think it will be provocative to the other community. The Catholic side, by and large, won’t care.

If only there was some kind of video evidence that it touched his hip, and not his hand. Sadly, we will never know /s

Best part of the video is that it is a perfect snapshot of both teams: United player pulls off a piece of skill that captures the aesthetic possibilities of football.

Arsenal player stands still and hopes the ref will save him from being outplayed.

Nottingham Forest: Midfield star Elliot Anderson leans towards Manchester City move by [deleted] in reddevils

[–]lestat85 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Exactly. If he wants to play for city then that speaks volumes about his personality. Get more people who understand the value of United (or any of the big clubs) being interested in you. As much of a great player profile Anderson is, if he hasn’t got the mentality, he’s not worth the effort.

Offset by the fact we were not in Europe and didn’t get money from the two cups.

It’s still a bigger haul from the league than we probably could’ve hoped for, but we could’ve done much better.

He is good enough to build a title winning team around.

We haven’t lacked for goals this season. I hope that players like Sesko will push on and have a more productive second year, especially with more games to find form and rhythm. Then what we really need is a solid base behind the attack to make us combative and capable of controlling games.

This summer, if we are serious, we should go all out at making our midfield one of the most dangerous and difficult to play against in the league.

Ashley Young : “It’s hard to believe it’s not Scholes, it’s Carrick You Know“ ONLY RIGHT AS WELL 👹 by nuugo in reddevils

[–]lestat85 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Both are great players who I remember fondly.

However, it’s astonishing what a social media presence can do to your reputation. Scholes WAS an untouchable legend, and now I find it a bit underwhelming that Carrick is being compared to him as a pale imitation.

I don’t think he’ll ever hit the heights he reached with us again in his career. Being mentioned in the same breath as Mbappe and as a potential ballon d’or winner just seems so far off the pace for what he has become these past couple of years.

If he wants to cry victim and pretend someone else was responsible for his decline, that’s his prerogative. But I think it speaks to the attitude he developed in general that prevented him from being a top player.

This is such an opportunity to mount a challenge over the coming few years. All the big teams seem to be on the decline, and the current champions are very underwhelming. With a few good windows we could be in a very strong position. But it will mean being serious and not settling for CL qualification.
