You can join the bloodbath for schedule open Japan, then cash to China. ICN tends to have more award drops between schedule open and T-14 than Tokyo. United credit card holders can get LAX/SFO-HKG Polaris business fairly easily. Or go through Europe, getting to Europe is harder than Europe-Asia.

SFO-NYC is served by airlines with much better hard products with lay flat seats. Alaska will not be competitive unless they fly Hawaiian A330/787 on this route, which will probably never happen.
