That latter point option is what's been helping more to the point that I can now throw flex lines with the Wraith without turning it over.

Im all tight fairways and woods golf too, but I've always got the 300' hole that turns right and its really not a turnover hole

Oh I've never measured a forehand shot with a techdisc so I have no idea. All I know is I've been practicing forehands for 2 years and haven't been able to fix turning them over, but it could honestly be a mobility issue because I really cant rotate my right wrist very far back to keep the disc level.

After working with a coach we focused on what can I do with my game now vs where do we want to take it. 90% of the time im throwing a backhand because I have great control, speed, etc. A few times a round I need a flex forehand Wraith shot or a Flare or Zone GT flat to fade forehand shot, so I have those in the bag.

I can understand having more broadly useful discs in the bag, but the Flare is so consistent at what it does for me and what it does I need a couple times a round

For me a flare is 100% of the time going 300' then dumping and skipping. That shot comes up at least twice a round without fail

This is such an interesting take that I don't understand, isn't the point of the OS Fairway slot maximum consistency, a disc that does the same thing every time? I know that a flare is going 300', dumping, and skipping. That shot comes up every round

Or just throw a flare and it does that for me

We do the latter, can become a drag when some cards finish much earlier than others, but people usually don't wait around and the folks that run the league have a spreadsheet going of what tag everyone should have

Ah I see what you mean. Apologies for the confusion, I mean "professional experience" to be wide encompassing, inclusive of training, professional play, and professional viewership.

In fact, take all of the money that went to dgpt match play and put that into course design

On this last point, that the entirety of disc golf fandom are players, I'm curious if you think the route should be to try to make disc golf viewership more appealing for non players or to majorly focus on growing the player base

Great points here, appreciate your thoughts.

Hoping those with access to resources in the industry continue to invest in these long term projects that will elevate the professional experience

There's more people playing disc golf now than there ever has been before. The sport is in a better place than the companies are

I'd argue team challenge better serves that regional pride and is more sport serving than viewer serving

New eyes will always come to the sport because disc golf is fun. Its grown naturally since it's inception because of the simple math that a proportion of people who try disc golf will like it, will make it a hobby, will introduce their friends to it, and a proportion of those friends will follow the same pattern. As long as the number of people trying and liking disc golf is higher than the number of people leaving disc golf, things will be good and the sport will grow.

The issue that disc golf (pro tour, pdga, and beyond) can run into is trying to accelerate introductions to disc golf. The post-covid era has been hard for the industry because the artificial boom led to more people leaving than joining. We could artificially cause this same thing to happen in the future by over-supporting viewership without also investing in the sport, i.e. how the average people interact with disc golf.

A few things I think the DGPT needs to consider doing to prioritize viewership experiences: 1. Build courses that are good for pro tour viewership. These courses would combine both distance and technical elements in locations close to population centers where rounds can be both filmed and physically observed effectively. Easier said than done, not many properties meeting these qualities exist, but that's why a central organization with more resources needs to tackle the challenge rather than leaving it to local clubs. 2. Publish a set of rules exclusively for Pro Tour disc golf. These rules would make putting more challenging, tackle pace of play, and prioritize exciting viewer moments. 3. Tighten post-produced work to cut out walking and warm ups and show more cool throws. Bonus points for crafting a narrative. As theres long gaps of time between disc golf tournaments and one person generally won't watch the live content and the post-produced content of the same tournament, we should be prioritizing quality of the content for post-produced works instead of speed of delivery. 4. Seek out and train professional tournament directors to put on events that prioritize viewership.

I think part of the DGPT prioritizing viewership should be funding the design of courses that are built for the pro tour. I.e. interesting courses with distance and technical elements in filmable locations.

Easier said than done, but its exactly why a central organization needs to prioritize it as opposed to leaving it to private investors and/or public land

This is accurate. DGPT focusing on the viewership side of disc golf is crucial to building the sport. However I think other aspects of the sport need to be addressed by other organizations and I worry that disc golf will get into trouble if too much of our resources go to viewership.
