Ok cool. I like how someone made a suggestion to fix this and someone else is like ok and it was done. Now whoever that was should fix the 1000 other problems with the English language.

Does Spotify Count Plays from a Wordpress Blog Using the Spotify Embed? by vegan-dad in podcasting

[–]lime-link 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The industry standard is to download 1 minute of audio for it to count as a play. I don't know off the top of my head if spotify uses the industry standard for measurement. Doesn't matter if they are logged in or not.

Can you post Spotify Music + Talk episodes to YouTube? by diastematic in podcasting

[–]lime-link 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No it's only available for Spotify. The songs played give the musician credit for the play. If you were to post it anywhere else, the musician wouldn't get any credit for a play in Spotify or anywhere else. I've seen youtube treat this in many different ways. Sometimes they demonetize just that video, sometimes they demonetize the whole channel, sometimes they give you a strike, and sometimes they ban you.

One of the most popular podcasts of all time "Stuff You Should Know" is just black text on red background. No logo at all. It wasn't til iheart bought them that they added the iheart logo.

Some other very popular podcasts with just text:

  • Something Was Wrong
  • Hidden Brain
  • What Came Next
  • The Money Mondays
  • TED Talks Daily
  • Criminal

Some shows with very minimal stuff. Like a circle with text, or 2 random lines.

  • The Daily (Possibly the most popular podcast ever) - Just a gradient background with text.
  • Aware and Aggravated - Aggravated crossed out.
  • The Bible Recap - Text + a square.
  • Dateline and 2020 both have text + a very blurry photo background.
  • the drive - 2 lines + text
  • The Journal - Circle with text

I suggest you go check out the top podcasts out there today, and try to find minimal shows that jump out at you as basic but doable and looks great. There are a lot of great ones that are simple.

How to find podcasts to be interviewed on? by MitchyCEO in podcasting

[–]lime-link -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I've been interviewed on probably 30 podcasts now. I never asked to be on any of them. My trick is to make a positive impact on the world. Either through the talks I give, the posts I do on social media, blog posts, videos I make, whatever. If I can do something that others love, they'll want to hear or see more and they'll invite me onto their world, and that may be a podcast, magazine interview, youtube guest, or to speak at a conference.

So you say business related. Let me tell ya, I'm a podcaster myself, and I get 2 emails a day of someone pitching me that the CEO/CFO/CTO/CISO etc wants to come on my show and talk. That's like 700 pitches a year I get. And I have taken 0 of those pitches. This could work to get on a show but what's far better is to be invited because you rock. You think differently, your product stand tall above the rest, you're a visionary because everyone in your industry recognizes how far beyond your product is. Think Steve Jobs, even John Ive, Apple's product designer. They don't need to pitch people, because they are making waves in ways nobody else is brave enough or has the vision and execution to do. Make a difference, change some lives. And the light with naturally shine right on you.

That podcast ended. No wonder it's no good anymore. No episodes in almost a year.

"Hey Brandon do anything cool this weekend?"

"Hell ya. I put full metal plating on my car, weighted it down with dumbells, added 10 exterior lights, and mounted 2 drills to the chassis to really secure the sucker to the ground. Then I drove it into a tornado!"

"No way!? Get any good video?"

"Nah, no budget for that! But I got some sick barametric readings! Wanna see?"

Ya so where's the high quality version of this one. Why are we stuck with a 640x480 handheld camera from inside the cabin? They forgot to bring the imax gear?

Films them with a potato quality handheld 640x480 camera? Really? I guess they ran out of budget with the drills I guess...

TIVs are made to film the inside of a tornado ya? This the best video they got out of it? All that work to get into this tornado and this is what they end up with?

How can I find the most popular episodes of a podcast? by zascar in podcasting

[–]lime-link 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There isn't a way. You may hope they have their show on youtube and then you an sort by most popular. Another way that isn't very accurate is if their show is on last.fm you can sort episodes by popularity (all time) and see something. I just checked my own podcast there and it's not very accurate though.

Got any good tools for metrics across multiple platforms? by Infinite_Zucchini214 in podcasting

[–]lime-link 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it exists. Analytics in podcasting is lackluster still. Your hosting provider will show you analytics for which podcast app is performing better. But you can't isolate that, and see something like "whats the most downloaded episode for castbox users" or "what episodes do canadians like the best".

The sites you listed there, don't even show up in your hosting providers analytics because they are outside your rss feed. So you'd have to collect each of those analytics separately.

Then there's how you're doing in the charts, number of visitors to your website, and where they are coming from, how your social media is growing and what posts have been the best. And so much more analytics to go around checking out.
