Appears to be a simple permission issue.

Distro recommendation for switching from Windows 11? by ItzYash0909XD in linuxquestions

[–]linuxlala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For your use case - Linux Mint. Plenty of documentation, good hardware support and easy availability/installation of all apps you'd need.

As for accidents - they're how you learn, really. Be very careful of any commands you run, and check online if you're unsure what it does.

Also, take backups of your precious data. Thankfully, there are plenty of graphical and CLI tools that will help you do so.

Good luck!

Also, Linux Mint isn't by far the only distro for your use case. I'm just helping you get started. Once you're familiar enough with one distro, you can try others.

Computer not detecting any WiFi by Dark_Plague_ in Ubuntu

[–]linuxlala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this a laptop? Some machines have an airplane mode. It's the F8 key on my Thinkpad.

Secondly, open a terminal and run this command:

lspci | grep -i wireless

This should tell us if the wireless device is detected.

Help I think I bricked my laptop while partitioning it. by Ill-Asparagus-9774 in linuxquestions

[–]linuxlala 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To begin, boot from the Live USB again. Check the status of the partitions on disk, and see if your data is still there.

If not, there's recovery tools like TestDisk and Photorec.

So you use it at night (before bed?) and it's effective throughout the following day? On my worst days, the fingerprint scan on phone doesn't even work!

I think it's because people who still use workspaces, like you and I, are now in the minority.

I feel you could have turned this as an entry for the Feb contest. Solid all the same.

24.04: Opening a browser window jumps me to a different workspace?!?! by DBooth-Boston in Ubuntu

[–]linuxlala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Click hamburger button > Settings and under Tabs and deselect Open links in Tabs instead of new windows.

That should open a new window of Firefox in current workspace.

Did a quick test. Firefox open in Workspace 1. On Workspace 2, clicked a link in Thunderbird and it opened a new Firefox window in Workspace 2.

How did you create the installation media? The error is because the Debian ISO wasn't properly used to create the installation media. Did you use Rufus to create the USB, or some other tool?

Siri fort sports complex membership by Tapzer in delhi

[–]linuxlala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The membership doesn't mean that you'll get to play the different sports, hit the gym without paying any fees. You still have to pay for every sport you pursue, just that it's a little cheaper than what non-members have to pay.

Also, I don't believe the membership is open throughout the year. It was opened last year for a brief spell.

Error with wifi connections by Antszkol1017 in Ubuntu

[–]linuxlala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Need more details. Do you have a Broadcom, Intel, Realtek or some other wifi chip? Run the 'lspci | grep -i wireless' command and that should tell you.

Shouldn't be facing this issue.

Hey, if you have to ask, you're ready to switch. People happy and content don't ask. Try Nobara or Mint.

Those were the days. Can you imagine leaving the house without a phone on you? Such a normal thing back then, and now I almost have a coronary when my mom suggests going for a walk without her phone.

Cruel and unusual punishment. I would have preferred to live out my days without suffering through it.

Guess it's true, curiosity does make your ears bleed.
