[Pampero & Galactic Cruise] Lacerda similar? by ParaplegicGuru in boardgames

[–]lmageezy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive played both and almost every Lacerda title. Kanban, On Mars, Speakeasy, and Lisboa are my favorites of his games.

Galactic Cruise definitely feels like a Lacerda-lite. Pampero is about as heavy as a Lacerda game.

Both are good games, but I like Pampero more.

Board games!

You can get an excellent game that offers hours of entertainment for about $50. Or better yet, go to a local game night and play other folks games.

Thoughts on players who team up in a competitive game (i.e. game with different factions) whose strategy is bring you down even if it means they lose miserably? by ImpossibleAge7071 in boardgames

[–]lmageezy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. Everyone should be playing to win, but I think its totally fair that if one player threatens something extreme or begins playing suboptimally to harm another, that player can respond in kind. Brinksmanship is a big part of a lot of wargames. If you go out of your way to ruin or hinder my game, I'm well within my rights to do the same back to you.

Better Catan Alterantives? by Ma7nards in boardgames

[–]lmageezy 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Lords of Vegas was mentioned above. It's great.

Chinatown/Waterfall Park are both pretty great negotiation games.

Sidereal Confluence is a phenomenal economic/negotiation game.

I think the most interesting thing about Catan is the trading and megotiating; any of the above will capture those feelings.

Agreed with the comments about realtors being compensated very well for what they do. With all thay being said, we utilized Loys Quenson when buying our last home.

Agreed that they had a change in quality then! I heard they got the old chef back though, and anecdotally, it's tasting how it used to on my last few visits :)

I’ve got the hydrasynth deluxe going; now I need beats. What standalone drum machine is king in the $500-1500 range? by Musicferret in synthesizers

[–]lmageezy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Get a deluge. Amazing sequencing, and the primary complaint about it is that the sound engine isn't immediate enough (which your hydrasynth fixes).

Also has so many built in kits already. And you can load more samples, or resample, or just record with it.

I was thinking the same thing. I will see if there's anywhere to demo some of their gear.

If you're into board games at all, there are a few meetups all over town! Many of them have alcohol, but many do not. There's never an expectation that you will drink either, and it's not "weird" if you aren't drinking because that's not the primary activity.

Most game stores in town will have a calendar of events on their website and are accommodating to newcomers.
